I actually think Geif's changes are super unique. He was insanely reliant on his drive and super meter in order to get combos and non SPD damage. You'd spend 4-5 bars to get any real damage. Rather than make him less reliant on that (which they still did), they just jacked his meter gain. Spend it dumb, you die, spend it smart, you get refunded. It's super dope.
an observation another comment made on another video is that they upped his drive chip immensely since gief has no safe special moves he can cancel into on block, so now his head does all the chip damage
Buffed, for sure. Top tier? I dunno, sounds a bit like a case of "oh wait my man Gief is not rock bottom now?" I don't mind either way as I've mained him forever anyway. I welcome buffs instead of nerfs to any character anyway, that's how you make things fun (but feel free to disagree, I'm am old timer after all) Also my lariat still can't hit in the back like it always did so I'm still sad ;)

Lariat will be a super strong move if it can hit in the back since all you need to do is pressed *two punch button* . No character can cross-up Gief if they make Lariat hit in the back. Heck, Gief already has air SPD that makes him scary to jump.
Come on, people, don't start with the "Zangief is top tier." He's not, and likely never will be. Saying he's top tier is just a way to get him nerfed faster, which he absolutely doesn't need.
My most biased fighting game take is that grapplers will never not be the easiest characters in the game, and with these buffs it’s really proving my point

You need to buffer behind something. Whiff button, blockstun, after jumping, after blocking. If you are fast enough, you can buffer behind 1 dash.

@@Vanderfate buffering behind a dash is like, you will need to use 1 or 2% of the time. Majority of games, you just buffer behind something.
