    I don’t think enough people talk about Kittie. I love them not just for their fashion, but their sound has resonated with me a lot. Their first (and only, I think) nu metal album was harsh and full of anger. Anger towards the struggles women face, from dealing with creeps to body image. That album really resonates with me. As their music career progressed, they cleaned up their sound a bit, Morgan lander’s clean vocals/ screams got even better, they dropped the rapping, etc etc, yet still produced heavy and powerful albums. I really look up to the members of Kittie, the band means a lot to me. Sorry if I kinda poured my heart out, I just really love Kittie lol

    Nu Metal is something that constantly evolves. It's a GIANT and very wide genre that basically means "Metal fused with any trending current genre", in my opinion. Modern Nu Metal to me is like Tallah, Fever 333, Tetrarch, and Falling in Reverse. These bands have all taken modern Pop music styles and production and mixed it with heavy-ass guitars, drums, bass, and vocals. Out of all the bands in this wide genre, Korn will always be my favorite and probably be the most game-changing band to me. They've experimented SO MUCH throughout their career that I can't not claim that they are the most influential Nu Metal band out their. But without a doubt, there are many, many other great bands as well, old and new.

  • @BradNolanVideography

    For a decade + people hated and called the nu metal era a joke. Nowwwww after the incredible Sick New World Festival, all of these bands reuniting and getting tons of cash thrown their way, people love it again. Why can't people just accept the greatness of this genre already? All that means is more big shows, and new music from these bands. You might as well just accept that it'll NEVER GO AWAY. Nu Metal for life!

    • @Horsediqdotmpeg
      @Horsediqdotmpeg ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Luna-dh6yt I would say a major thing missed is what was happening culturally. The labels made a formula they signed bands with that gets all the credit. It was the beginning of the internet and piracy. All the fan bases of all the various types of music found each other overnight. The rave scene was massive. All those fans also loved hip hop and metal. There was a celebration of music happening and festivals to match. Hip Hop also officially became mainstream. Every city had a new radio station and local clubs connected that wasn't there before. It was the true begging of hip hop becoming pop. So nu metal wasn't just a sound. It was the merging of all the counter cultures all getting into each others music and an explosion of shows that followed. As where before you had to go to a record store and take a chance blowing $20 at a time to maybe find something new. This is just the tip of the iceberg. I could go on and on for hours. Another thing would be the music industry collapsing itself and not piracy. The piracy was free promotion that expanded audiences across the board and there was more money to be made than ever but they got extremely greedy and put all their money pushing garbage. Everyone forgets they were starting to charge $29 for CD's with two tracks you would like. I'll stop there.

    Thanks for kicking off the week with this, Coach Finn! We shall get down with the fitness, Sports Fans!!! Ooo-ah-ah-ah! Last time I wrote down favorite nu-metal songs going from the basis of songs by bands considered to be nu-metal or metal songs with radio pop rock appeal with a rougher angsty edge ("Wish" by Alien Ant Farm), but thanks to a commenter wrote down this definition:
    "Must have at least 2 of these things at the same time: catchy chorus, low tuned guitars, rap or dj"
    And I remember you, Finn, considering "Blind" by KoRn the best nu-metal song...also, "Psychosocial" was the best Slipknot song which, I used to be a big Slipknot/Stone Sour fan basically a Corey Taylor fan as a kid memorizing every lyric, watching/reading every interview I could...I still have my signed guitar when I met him! But, fell off from Slipknot because of how dark and sacrilegious lyrics were, but I think Psychosocial might have been one where I thought the lyrics were fine having decent meaning (really liked your video on metal and vocals since vocals is my favorite instrument besides piano and violin) until it got to the "limits of the dead" chanting where I don't remember what was up with that. Alright, thanks for reading my life story. Stoked! Hope you enjoy your week!

    06:50 Having Morgan Lander on the podcast would be amazing 😅 Especially since they are playing shows again, have a new song and she is in Karkaos now, apparently making melodic death metal... I agree that as much as I loved their first record when it came out, it didn't age well at all. The two after that though were massive improvements, although somewhat of a departure from nu metal.
    Regarding the bass: Seems to be the same with all kinds of reggae. Used to work as a barkeeper on a ton of reggae & dancehall nights, and they often had like half a dozen music videos on mute running on repeat all night, always the same line-up. A $10 guitar, 4-piece-drumkit and a 5/6 string bass upwards of $2,000. The strings on those basses probably cost more than all the other instruments and the video combined.

    I don't remember how I found Hed P.E., but Truth Rising is a jam for sure lol.
