Mike CCPA is a double edged sword. Many companies here refuse to let you opt out if you don't support them your information. They literally ask for your name, phone number, email etc so they can clear you from their logs. Sounds to me like they are just going to sell your information anyways...

The truth is they do inform you in a very convoluted, legalese way that most people won't understand what's happened. Or they put a paragraph on page 13 of 52 to inform you.
What they put on paper has nothing to do with what they really do in reality. The companies lie and commit crimes all the time and they get away with it. One example: I bought something from a company and got it delivered home. Then I bought something else from them, more expensive. They said this time I need to be home, because they needed me to sign. I knew I couldn't be home, so I changed my delivery address to my work. Fast forward, this company started sending me junk mail at my work. I called them and asked them to stop sending me any mail. She quickly said: "It's not from us". Yes, it is. You are the only place where my name is associated with this address, because of the signature delivery. She went quite. So, you can make laws all you want, bacause companies couldn't care less.
I'm banned from Twitter and I can't delete my account/data because they make you (successfully) appeal your ban first. Any attempt at contacting them gets thrown into your old and already ignored request to have data deleted (that they call a request to appeal a ban.)
