Best thing about solo sailing is: the food lasts longer. Nobody to complain about the cooking, weather, noisy engine etc... love your videos and you’ll always get a thumbs up 👍

Hi, I'm sure you may have already addressed the squeak, but if not, there is a quickick easy method- spray down the belt good with armour all. After drying or wet, either way,, works for me and others also. Fair Winds

I used the Lat Long and saw a beautiful "bay" or cove, with a river flowing into it and big mountains all around. Pretty much wilderness, no sign of people on the map.
I liked Andrew Richards' track - reminds me of Toumani Diabaté. If you like that listen to him play with Ali Farka Touré. Sam Mangwana's 'Suzanna' and Tshala Muana's 'Banda Yango' are anthems too.
Great video! Nice to see your hard work being rewarded. Random question... why don’t you use your staysail along with your Genoa for sailing to windward or reaching? Cutter rigged boats generally work really well using both headsails. Keep up the great work!

Nike.. love the videos,. Working my way slowly through them all. Tell me about 2 things. Drinking water and vaccinations. Do you drink the local water supplied whenever in a marina, or do you use only bottled? What vaccinations did you get before heading off.
Hey Garry, I drink whatever water is available in the marinas / docks or rainwater. I don't do bottled water, except for a couple of gallon jugs that I keep for emergency if I have to abandon ship or I get a leak in the tank or the water goes really bad. And I am pretty good on vaccinations as well. Got the usual...would have to look it up, but I got pretty much everything you need. Even had some rabies shots way back, but they are probably not working anymore since this was some 13 years ago ;).
Those calm solo all alone anchorages are why i bother this lifestyle And if i get solo waves surfing then it can wash away a entire years worth of bullshit.
I think if I was asked 'do you think this would make good video' Id say something like 'what?' but you know it is really interesting to watch someone elses routine to shove off you could consider giving us a tour of your boat some time, I cant remember much of it except when it was mouldy and stuff ... maybe more about that next week have a good one

Curious ... did you say that you have a switch that you can work the windlass from the cockpit? Or are you somehow locking it on and running up to the bow when you see the anchor coming up?
Not so unusual to have a windlass control at the helm - an electronic chain counter makes life even easier but you still have to go forward to secure the anchor for sea.
It sounded like she has an up/down switch in the cockpit, and a section of chain close to the anchor is painted. When she see's the paint she knows it's getting close so she shuts it off and goes up to the bow. Don't know if there's another switch on the bow or she just pulls up the last section and anchor by hand. That wouldn't surprise me.... :)
Gary Souza yeah I have a switch to lift the anchor close to my companion way. I usually flake the chain until 10m is left, then I go into the cockpit and wait until I see the large painted part of the chain coming up. Then I switch it off and lift the last bit by hand and secure the anchor 👍
steven k I guess that depends on your general water situation ☺️. I try to catch what I can to fill my tanks so I don’t have to worry about running low on water.

Belt squeak :- rub a little hard soap on the belt where you can get at it. But do this when the engine is STOPPED.
