Mrs Brown's Boys kinda reminds me of "When the Whistle Blows" in Extras. "Is he aving a laugh? Are you aving a laugh?!". Except one is a satire of that comedy genre.
I couldn't really get my head around it when Mrs Brown's Boys first aired on the BBC because, as you quite rightly pointed out, it looks like a sincere version of 'When the Whistle Blows' in Extras. I'm so glad that Mark found this totally unfunny, as it backs up the reaction of a cinema full of people who watched the trailer for it with me, (we were all waiting for Godzilla to start). Trailers are generally meant to show you the good stuff to get you to pay to see the film....If that's the case then it must be totally dire....Not one person in the Cinema laughed.....A sort of deathly miasma fell over us all. Not only that, but 'Mrs Brown' turned up again later in the adverts to plug something, and there were actually swear words being muttered around me about this horrendous character.....
You know we have programming with sign language overlaid, so that deaf people can watch too? Perhaps we could implement a similar thing for Mrs Brown programmes, but totally the opposite? Maybe we could overdub the sounds of genocide being committed, or superimpose imagery of decomposing corpses or something, just to make Mrs Brown more palatable for normal people. Just a thought.
There was no humour at all in that clip. Is that because the jokes were unfunny, or because there were no jokes in it full stop? Anyway, now we have Keith Lemon and Mrs Brown's Boys films, what we (don’t) need is a Michael McIntyre film to complete the Trilogy of No Laughs.
Someone once said in recommendation of Mrs Brown's Boys that it's very similar to Father Ted. I almost had an aneurysm at the sheer blasphemy of that statement (pun very much intended)

On the plane to hell they play this between Keith Lemon The Film and The Harry Hill Movie.
And Le Diner De Cons, The Village and Kevin And Perry Go Large as well. The music they probably play is non- stop Limp Bizkit. ;)
Mr. Veteran "Le Diner De Cons" thats Dinner for Shmucks? man that was bad..so disappointing even with the cast it had..
