While his grandpa gets involved in more and more outrageous behaviour, Jason tries to keep on the straight and narrow ahead of his upcoming wedding.

Wow... I clicked on this because I was convinced I was gonna get a classic Mark Kermode Rant. But he's not even angry or even disappointed... he sounds just depressed. Like the movie emotionally hurt him. I don't think I've ever seen a movie do that to him.

Man. Simon tried to spark him up at the end by dropping "Entourage" and Mark just couldn't get there with him. Kermode seems utterly broken by watching this movie. I'm kind of sad he had to see it for us.

I like Mark, I find him quite fair. He judges films on their merits and keeps his mind open. He doesn't have an agenda, and you can see that he tries desperately to remain objective and to rate films based on their merits, rather than a dislike of a particular actor/director/writer/subject matter etc...
He acknowledges his own failings and even in films he is not keen on, he looks for the positives. He also acknowledges what I have long believed; that films are not just 'films', they can have a very strong cultural impact, and one that Hollywood does not take seriously enough.
I see him as a really good judge of films, and as a critic that is willing to challenge himself and question himself. Unlike most other critics, I trust his opinion.
