This video was filmed on June 19th, 2020. Things are changing daily with the coronavirus situation, so the information in this video might be outdated later in the year. The beaches in Playa del Carmen and elsewhere around the country could open at some point. Or else Mexico could go back into lockdown again if the virus gets worse. Check the latest news so you know what to expect if you decide to travel anywhere in the world. Here's an article that outlines which countries are planning to open up to tourism this year: www.cnbc.com/2020/06/12/which-countries-are-open-for-summer-travel-after-coronavirus.html And here's an interactive website that provides updated information on the travel restrictions for almost every country in the world: www.iatatravelcentre.com/international-travel-document-news/1580226297.htm In short, I don't really recommend traveling internationally right now, unless you're fully prepared for the unpredictable state of things. Especially if you're an American, and many other nationalities, then your options for countries you can travel to are very limited. Europe recently opened its borders to tourism for non-Europeans, but it's a short list of citizens from certain countries who can enter Europe and unfortunately American citizens didn't make the list. Think carefully about making any travel plans at this time and be prepared for possible disruptions to flights or circumstances changing at a moments notice.
Gabriel, the Yucatan is so magical and mysterious. Stay there for as long as you can because the wonders there are bountiful. its fabulous for hitchhiking, exploring, and the rural communities also offer so much. My biggest piece of advice is talk to locals. They can tell you places that are not on to tourist trail. There is big money in Yucatan because of tourism but most of the untapped gems are on private property. They are kept secret so the government wont interfere and sieze land. I love it there. please make more videos about mexico so i can live vicariously through you until such times as i can travel again.
this was the year we were planning to go especially to Guanajuato cities, but thanks to the Covid, your videos are the next best thing. I feel like i'm there, I just need my drink and a fan blowing in my face. thanks so much
Haven't been to Playa del Carmen since the late 90's when cyber cafes was the method of keeping in touch, plus a great place to meet people. People tell me I wouldn't like how things have turned out around there, but I sure enjoyed the amazing beaches, sand, and waters. This was before cruise line passengers arrival as most would stay in Cozumel. Don't mind the quiet, so this might be the perfect time to re visit the place!
Glad to see you're out traveling again and here in Mexico! Tomorrow I'm going over to Lagos de Moreno for a couple nights then over to Guanajuato for 3 nights where I got a really nice airbnb for $9 a night! It's discounted because of the lack of tourists right now because of the pandemic. Stay safe, Saludos!
Any chance you might do a brief video with the couple that produce Tangerine Travel. They live in the little seaside town of Puerto Morales near Cancun. They know the Mexican state of Quintana Roo very well.
A blessed good day sir Gabriel and with your friend ms.Ana Wowww nice very stunning Playa del.Carmen Yacutan Woww breathtaking swim and walk around water Cave experience a lot of artifacts and beautiful stalagmites stones thank u so much sir Gabe for your nice tour keep safe Godbless u from your solid fan viewer from the Philippines ,🇵🇭🙏👍👏👏🙂🙂🙂🙏🙏👍👍👏👍👍👍
Nice one Gabriel you make us jealous by still managing to get out for adventures and now jealous you are getting to meet up with all your female friends. Fair play I say! Happy next adventure where ever you are and that may be......
would like to know what your flight(s) from oregon to mexico were like-did you have to wear a mask? was carry on allowed? what kind of checks were done at airport when you arrived? you are lucky to also have canadian citizenship-it opens more doors to you than a U.S. passport these days-perhaps you have gone to europe. hopefully your videos will be more frequent. have the restrictions been a downer for your travels?
Yes masks were required in the airports and during the flights. But no health checks or even questions upon entering Mexico, everything was normal in that regard. All the restrictions are definitely a pain but it's to be expected, just have to roll with it.
Gabriel man you kick arse. There really is no stopping you. What an incredible man you are. A real inspiration to us all. Im just dreaming of traveling soon just dreaming ✋😎💞❣💖
The rest of Mexico is still in lockdown mode to the best of my knowledge. Cancun and the Yucatan area is okay to visit and I also heard that Cabo San Lucas on the Baja was opening up around this time, so you could look into that. But other areas of Mexico aren't really open to tourists. Perhaps that could change in the near future.
Gabriel you are correct to call it in the 'Yucatan Peninsula' because Yucatan is the name of the state and also of the peninsula, but you were in Quintana Roo state within the Yucatan Peninsula.
Absolutely fascinating- so glad you're back. I'm also pleased to see most other people making comments here share my enthusiasm and you're only getting a few of the '"deadly dangerous to travel" type comments. I have had to stop any comments from being made on my most recent videos after getting endless comments about masks, is this travel essential etc.
I got a lot of those comments under my recent video about where Americans can travel now. Was thinking about turning off comments myself, but I'll see how it goes with future videos.
I'm going to Mexico in October or November hopefully... I want to go to Puerto Vallarta and Mexico City. Perhaps even Oaxaca as well. I hope things are opened up by then... and hopefully masks aren't required by then.
Gabriel, I'm a HUGE fan of yours, having watched most of your amazing journeys! I live in New Jersey and backpack throughout the Northeast, mostly solo. Have you ever been to Saint Martin/Sint Maarten? It's a wonderful island to explore with volcanic mountains, hiking trails along the coastlines. Keep doing what you do and be safe out there! :-) ~Wanderlust~
Thank you for this video! It's good to see you are back to work! The Yucatan /Riviera Maya coast is one of my favorite areas to visit. Hopefully, you can have more access to different countries with your Canadian passport. Stay safe Gabriel Traveler!
@@GabrielTravelerVideos Cool. I will be staying in Tulum. All I really hope is that the restaurants and beaches stay open. From what I've read they are.
So did you hear bout the European Union ban on Americans Travelers. nd if u don't mind me asking, if u have a Canadian passport, would u use that one to get into Europe.
Yeah, what about the US travel ban on European travellers that's been in force since March and likely to continue for some time.🤔..it's not just Europe...
In this area of Mexico you can order takeout, as well as dine-in eating at lots of restaurants in Playa del Carmen and Cancun. Not sure about other towns on the Yucatan or elsewhere in the country, but from what I understand many parts of Mexico are still closed to tourism and under some sort of lockdown restrictions.
Good to see you back, Gabriel. You always get great results from that GoPro...your settings are really dialed in. Do you use a stick/etc or just handhold? Still carrying the 7?
Gabriel... I’m stranded in the Yucatan (Mérida) and surprised by your vid. Until very recently, it’s been under pretty strict lockdown. What are your next plans and where are you staying? Hotels here have been closed and only recently available to business travelers. Thanks!
Gabriel Traveler thank you for replying back and that’s great to hear. Also did you need any special documents when going through immigration at the airport? I’ve read that some countries are requiring documentation showing you that you have a negative test.
I have been in Mexico for the last 3 weeks I am looking for a new country to go to.. curious where you are now.. Belize I heard is open to Americans now or is opening soon.. I know most of not all the Caribbean islands are open to Americans
