    I visited Croatia for the first time a few years ago, this region in fact although not Korcula. I didn't know what to expect but it completely blew me away. I think as far as the Mediterranean goes Croatia is the very best of It. It's paradise.

    I traveled all over Europe and actually missed the most beautiful part of it, which is in my home country - Croatia. For me personally it is Dalmatian islands, especially southern ones. I've been in St. Tropez, Nice, Cannes and all those places for me don't come close to the beauty of nature and small Mediterranean towns on Southern Dalmatian islands.

I have never been to Korzcula, but wouldn't be funny if in the future some body might say: "his house is here therefore Claudio was born here" hahaha ... I wish ! ... • @bryanbell8244
      @bryanbell8244 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It depends where in the world you live i think. Compared to the UK Hvar old town was expensive, eg two coffees and two cakes were about £15. In Stari Grad a similar treat was less than £8. We found Korcula to be good value as was Porec and Trogir. Dubrovnic is an absolute legend but, again, because of it's heritage, is a little more expensive on most items but relatively cheap on others. The view from the old fortress on top of the mountain is never to be forgotten. We have always felt at home in Croatia, very little street crime anywhere, no beggars, friendly locals and some excellent beers !

  • @sonja8282
    @sonja8282 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video Gabriel. Really enjoyed it. Croatia is expensive but it is mainly on the coast because of the tourism and because the season is so short (Jun -Sep). Food in Zagreb and other inland towns is much cheaper. Also, another thing is that you don’t have to tip in Croatia as much as we tip in US or Canada. I am Croatian, living in Canada for many years. I visited Croatia last year and my friends told me to just leave a small amount in cash for the waiter. They usually don’t share the tip with other staff (kitchen, hosts, etc.) so the tip can be smaller. If you pay by credit card do not leave a tip on the credit card because it will not go to the waiter/staff. So just leave a small amount in cash directly to waiter.

You will be surprised by our riviera beaches and even by the Adriatik beaches in north Albania with their sand and their blue water sea. Albania is a beautiful country I don't know why foreigners visit only well-known country in the Balkans such is Croatia and they still haven't seen the beauty of our mountains, rivers and beaches. I can only mention to you a few beautiful places you can check in the internet and find out their are marvelous: the Albanian Riviera ( in the Jon sea), the Rana e hedhun ( in the Adriatik sea ), our mountains in Valbona and Theth, the Shala river. And this are only few of them like I mention.

    I was hoping you would go through the village where my husband’s grandparents and the grandfather of my best friend came from, which is Lombarda. There are a lot of folks from there here in the San Francisco Bay Area; they even had a Lombarda Club at one time. The island looks so beautiful and idyllic that one can’t imagine why people would want to leave it! But, the older generation who left did so because of war, politics and for opportunities offered them in other countries. As for the Marco Polo story, Korcula and much of Croatia was part of Venice at one time, which means he could have been born in Korcula and still have been born in Venice! 🙃 Thank you for this lovely tour. I hope my husband and I make it there some day.

I've been watching your vids with a particular eye on the cost of day to day living expenses , I was aware of Croatia not being the cheapest of destination's especially in comparison to other countries in the region ,so I'm just wondering if there is much of a hostel / backpacking scene ? And also if it's a viable option to catch public transport ( buses ) etc on the islands ? Keep up the good work my man , really appreciate the time and effort that you go through to bring us these videos , and it definitely helps with my wanderlust ... Thanks again , happy and safe travels amigo 👍🍻

    Nice one Gabriel! Met you a few days ago in Vela Luka while you were at dinner. Did you end up going to Proizd or any other nearby island? :)
    P.S. If you are still on Korčula, go for Cukarin in Korčula town for sweets, top-notch stuff from local grandma!

      Howdy Ivan, nice to meet you. You're who I was referring to in the video when I said that someone had recommended the nearby islands. No I didn't end up going to Proizd though. Ran out of time editing videos. Have a good one!

    it wasn't a bad idea to go to Croatia during the pandemic. those areas are seriously busy with tourists normally. it's difficult to get a place without booking well ahead!

    Couldn't agree with you more about Croatia being a fantastic place to visit. Seems every which way you turn you've got something to film. I appreciated & replayed the blooper you left in - a car honking - Ha - something I constantly have in the background, in addition to sirens wailing, when I'm filming in NYC, so much so I just leave it in as part of the 'sound track' ;)

    Cool video! I hope you got to spend some time on the beautiful Pelješac peninsula, just across the sea from Korčula town. Another recommendation is Makarska riviera, a string of lovely beach towns around Makarska. Plus the Biokovo massif, a mile-high mountain right on the coast. Up north, Cres and Lošinj islands are both very beautiful, too.
