American Shocks Jungle Village by Speaking Ancient Mayan Language

  • I've been living in Mexico recently where I've learned to speak the Yucatec Maya language, the indigenous language of the Yucatan peninsula which has been spoken in this region for thousands of years. In this video I wander around the jungle villages of Tulum and surrounding areas and try to speak to people in Maya. I'm not perfect in Maya but fortunately I can also speak some Spanish, and so we speak in a mixture of Spanish and Maya. Come back next week to see me order a whole bunch of food in Maya!
This is the platform that I used to become fluent in Spanish in 20 days:

The high majority of his viewers are really dumb and don't question what they see on the internet even though they probably think they do. In learning other tongues you begin to pick up mannerisms that hint at what somebody means and you can also breakdown the basic everyday chatting topics. So 100% understanding isn’t needed to get the gist of what they’re saying, but merely following the flow and adding in your knowledge becomes to work wonders.

The more I watch this channel the more I appreciate how cool it would be to be able to speak the languages of the places you travel to. I've noticed consistently in these videos how the dynamic instantly changes between our young hero and the people he meets once they realize he speaks their language. Even in some cases if he doesn't speak it well - the amount of respect he gets for the effort is amazing. Makes me wonder as I've travelled as a simple english speaking westerner how many interesting people I could get to know with a little more effort on my part to bridge the language barrier.

I love how you can pick up all these languages. I'm European from Hungary. It's the known as one of the hardest language in the world to learn. I'd love to see u give it a try and talk with you in Hungarian.

Learning a new language is a real challenge, but learning a new language while you already speak 10 others is crazy diffcult. Learning my 2nd and 3rd languages was okay, but my 4th and 5th were so much more challenging. I kept mixing words from different languages up, and to understand locals when they speak that language with an accent is soo difficult. Massive respect to this guy.
