To make it play easier in OBS you can convert the QuickTime file to a Webm file. There’s codecs for programs. There are also online converters. It should be possible to retain the alpha transparency! Converting to webm will make the file much smaller & will be a breeze to play in OBS.
@@alangodinez5487 I use Shutter Encoder to convert to .webm (In drop down in that program you select VP9, then in advanced features there is a check box to Enable Alpha Channel). You can probably use other programs as well.
I've learned so much from you, it helps make my video passable LOL!! Have you done a video about zooming and highlighting on text? If so, I can't find it. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Casey ! You are saviour! Your videos are comprehensive, now I could make some basic video editing from zero knowledge after watched your video. Your videos are easy to understand for totally beginner, which is so great! Unlike any other tutorial that expecting us do have some editing background, so hard for us to learn. Hope to see your great videos again and again !
I'm getting a new laptop (replacing my 2014) so that I can edit videos better, and now thanks to you I'll be spending way too much time trying stuff like this 😂 but thankfully you explain this so well! Thank you!
Cassie, I literally just did this! I have learned much from you sir, thank you! I made a neon flashing light of my name and a scroller for all my socials. 😊
Thanks for the great tutorials. I've used some of the fusion goodies I've learned into the introductions of a few of my recent videos! Kudos for the great content you've been putting out! Thank you once again!
Hey Casey, this give me so much ideas what I can do for my streams. I have one question. Is there an option to render an overlay with sound and transperentcy? For an example the subscribe button. So I can use it as a clip and the "clicking sound" is always within. Thx for your great tutorials. Best Regards, Patrick
Dude your tutorials are so fun and make struggling with editing a blast. I'm struggling with trying to move a title from one project to another. In the new project it says my media is offline, but I basically pointed to the same source folder. I think it's the effects I have on the clip that weren't transferred over. Do I need to merge them into a VFX connect clip or whatever? I still want to be able to edit the text in the new project. Been trying to scour youtube for answers... if it's something you've covered before I'd love to know.
I do not understand, when I apply rectangle mask on merge 2.. the mask is inverted by default.. i understand it's supposed to only show the white background.. but mine shows the blue background.. so i need to click "invert" so that I could produce the white highlight.. problem is, when i decrease blend in merge 2.. it decreases the blend of the blue border instead because the mask is inverted.. is this some sort of bug?
Between you and mralextech I am learning a lot about fusion thank you very much from a person with learning difficulties yall do a monkey see monkey do type of instruction that works for me
Hi Casey can you please do a tutorial on how to highlight a certain part of a paragraph, or blur out a paragraph leaving just a sentence unblurred so that part of the sentence can be focused on
You could also just convert the file to webm, which will run smoother too . Anyway I have request, could you plaease do a stinger transition for OBS using matte for the new stinger function in OBS 27? For some reason I have tried to but it gets semitransparent and both scenes shine through
these look awesome I have however noticed it does affect cpu usage makes it very high I have a 5800x so my cpu shouldn't be an issue when using it streaming
I noticed, you used quite a difficult format for a video with green screen. There is a cool way to make a very lightweight video with a transparent background in DaVinci Resolve for OBS and completely forget about green screens for such overlays. The solution is the VP9 format. VP9 uses WebM video container. It was created by Google. It is not very popular in video editing software, but it is very popular in web technologies, because it allows to create super lightweight video files, it supports alpha channel and it uses lossless compression. This format is widely used by Google and TH-cam. Just a few facts to understand. Overlay videos using H.264 format can weigh several megabytes while VP9-encoded overlays can weigh about 100 kilobytes. The difference in size may be 10, 20 or even 50 times. Moreover, VP9 animation, just like the old PNG image format, uses lossless compression. This makes WebM movies portable and reusable in future. Lossless technologies are the future. To make a VP9 WebM video in DaVinci Resolve you need to export your project as a sequence of images using a format which supports transparency. The best format is TIFF with alpha channel, PNG format with alpha channel can also be used. After you export your animation as a sequence of images, you need to assemble a WebM movie from them. For this purpose you can use the free and open-source FFmpeg tool with a very simple script. More information about converting TIFF images into the WebM can be found in Google's search. The simpliest command to convert TIFF images into a WebM video would be following: ffmpeg -framerate 60 -i frame_%05d.tif -pix_fmt yuva420p -an output.webm
@@GerritKPunkt Yeah, it used FFmpeg and of course you can mess with it and do it yourself, but I remember there was a script somewhere that people would use, saw many videos where people would show it
To sort the filesize out, you may be able to also convert it to .webm, which keeps the transparency, but makes the filesize like 1/8th of it's original.. (random guess on the actual size, but it's smaller)
Thanks Kyle. This made a world of difference to me. I'm trying to do editing/creating on a laptop. @@MattHeere Hi Matt. First I must tell you I am strictly an amateur so I don't know if this is the sort of method you want but I simply used www.aconvert.com/video/. There is a check box to save with transparency. Whilst it took a while to convert it the result seemed to be great. However, like I say, I'm no professional user so you may need a 'better' solution. Anyway, I hope this helps a bit. I hope you and yours are well and keeping safe. Cheers. Dave
is it just me... or can you not do really kewl effects like you can on AE... i would REALLY like to see recreations of, lets say, video copilot done with resolve... i just don't see how it can be done and i really want to use this program and not have to pay a monthly subscription to adobe just to use all my saved AE projects.
Yikes! You are so good at this… But I’m telling you you could do this in after affects in half the time half the trouble half the layers. And it would be just as good if not better using shapes. Fusion is definitely an interesting animal… But it’s so convoluted. Merge this to merge that and merge this to merge that… You have to go to medical school to figure out how to do all this.
Render in .mov is the worst thing you could do, OBS gets really slow if you make transitions and stuff like the ones you are showing using .mov, the trick here is to render in webm, takes a lot less resources. webm videos look awful in any program except the streaming apps, idk why.
Alpha video files will usually be huge and eat processor resources. You could do the green screen key out, but a clean alpha file is FAR better. What you could do is convert the .MOV file to .WEBM and like magic your alpha video is at a manageable size. Here are 2 places your can convert your .MOV alpha video files to .WEBM: Aconvert www.aconvert.com/video (Web Based) Shutter Encoder www.shutterencoder.com/en/ (Install/Standalone)
for anyone else having trouble after adding the 3rd mask to create the spinning highlight affect, but the colours are the wrong way around, open the inspector for that third mask and click invert
