Windows 95....Forever! I really enjoy your videos, and if an issue pops up you mostly do whatever it takes to get things working. Thanx Billy....Feel better soon!
Thanks for sharing I really enjoy the videos and I am glad you are on the mend. I have missed seeing new videos from TNM. Looking forward to the next in the series. I have a similar Gateway 2000 with the same tower case. It is a P5-100. I had similar problems changing out the cards that came with it. Some of these older PNP motherboards get their configuration data messed up. In my case I removed a telepath modem but I could not get the resources to release even in the BIOS. My BIOS did not have an option to clear the ESCD data but ont he Gateway 2000 System CD there should be a tool to reset the data. Once I did this in DOS all my issues resolved. I don't remember what the tool is called off hand, but it should be easy to find on the CD. Regarding those Ensoniq soundscape cards. The SoundBlaster emulation doesn't really like Win95 mode as it wants pure DOS mode. With the right drivers and the correct settings in DOS it can do a decent job on many games. The one area it shines is in the Wavetable support. Ensoniq was eventually bought by Creative and the Sound Blaster PCI 128 is basically an Ensoniq Audio PCI. Creative bought them for the emulation technology but it is not straight forward always, to get it working correctly .
Also the Ensoniq has some support for MPU-401 intelligent mode for the Roland MT-32. It's not full intelligent mode, more of a fake intelligent mode, but it works for a lot of games.
REQUEST: Try installing Windows Chicago Build 58s on one of your machines. It has a lot of differences from 95's RTM. Also, hope you have a quick recovery!
is the Windows 95 D Lite cd better then the windows 95 usb cd,, when i installed windows 98 se on my gateway 2000 p5 166xl ,, it found the drivers for the matrox pci video card and the ensonic isa sound card ,,your computer and video is cool
I have the regular gateway 2000 p5-166, same style tower. I wonder what the difference is in it compared to the xl model you have. I have no idea what happened to razorback. It is like it suddenly dropped off the face of the earth, which is really weird. Hopefully somebody knows something. Was looking forward to trying the official release of redtoast they were working on.
Hope you have a full and speedy recovery from your surgery. Get well soon!
Nice computer systems and peripherals. Succes with the healt of your shoulder. Greetings to you and your wife. From Steven from the Netherlands

I enjoy windows 95 and 98 games, a lot of the ones i like never got a release on gog
When Windows 95 is installed on a Gateway 2000 PC from 1995-1998, you need a Gateway System CD and drivers to install them before you use.

The old fashioned way huh?

Yuck! What horrible sound quality from ensonqie sound card... BARF
Which is strange because Ensoniq made some great synthesizers in the 80s. The SQ-80 and the Mirage sampler.
