I've been watching your videos on head porting and I've done car heads and I tried my hand at a 212 predator I got and a gx 390 and using what you trying to show people my heads turned out awesome you are a very talented guy

great stuff .. If I just wanted to go springs, fw and gov nix can I get away with 22# springs instead of 18#?.. I already have S2 intake and exhaust ... I'm trying to boost power to make the most of a juggernaut style driver.. it's the hemi 212 head

Not sure. I don’t know stock parameters. We use longer valves, race cut seats that sit the valves at a lower height and cut our spring pockets. And with that setup I only use 37’s or dual coil 60’s. I knew but forgot most of the info on the lower springs ratings and clearances.

Hey Paul. You feel a completely polished chamber is better than a rough sand blasted finish? Have you tried a light sandblasted chamber. And have you tried golfballing the piston?

nice head but theres no quench pad

It’s a hemi chamber , so you’re right , not much only about a 1/4 around the full parameter. These heads are good for there angled port but I like to weld the chamber up and get that compression ratio up. Stock is about 25cc’s of chamber volume. And you can mill them to get some compression ratio up but you’re going to sacrifice lift by doing so. When you mill the head your bringing the valves closer to the piston. So my choice is a hemi head with a welded chamber , get compression up without milling it and can still run big lift. Also get some more quench in the process too.

Paul… what’s the biggest baddest small block you can build going to cost me?

I'm not paul but I think after 3 months of TH-cam research on small engines.
      About 10-20k.
For paul to do something real special 😅

Here is something only a few know, It's definitely not a true hemi head but, More of a Semi/Hemi head like the Automotive Small Block Ford aftermarket Hammer Hemi head. Look it up, Look at the Combustion Chamber? I'm willing to bet this Hemi head would greatly wake up if someone welded the combustion chamber up and designed like the Hammer Hemi head. Oh, Cut down those Rocker arm towers and drill and tap them For Gage aftermarket roller rockers. It eliminates the possibility of them breaking with high lift cams requiring high spring pressures

Here’s something a lot of people know, hemispherical heads have a hemispherical combustion chamber.... The degree the valves are canted or angled, it doesn’t matter what valve train your using. It’s the combustion shape in the head. There’s advantages to both. Non Hemi is easier to make compression with a smaller volume and or squish band, valves so they don’t get shrouded... Hemi can run larger valves and since they open onto the cylinder at an angle the more they open the less shrouded they become then valve timing and overlap become a problem... also why weld up a Hemi head ? Are you talking about welding it up to change port size, angle, the Combustion chamber For more compression that would just shroud the valves. I’m just curious how many race motors have you built in the last 40 years?
