I use a piece of granite counter stone from a fabrication business as wider than the narrowest dimension of the part, 12 inches longer than the longest dimension, glue with contact cement sheets of wet dry sand paper edge to edge, use dye blue on the mating surface and then work it the case until all the blue is gone within reason.
You get uniform full contact with the mating surface unlike spot sanding. And it is much faster
It is a poor mans milling machine
