I love INdex mills. The quill speed is too fast for my taste. I like to slow it down more and take a wider cut ..like 0.100" and fine feed down. Slower quill speeds also reduce chatter if you take wider cuts. Very cool man.
YOu should use some parallels to flop the part on the table. As the mill table gets worn over the years of use, it will have a 'bow' on it - usually down the middle. So using parallels will lessen transferring the table imperfection to the part you are machining. - just saying.
