I just wanted to point out that this system cost me £4,500 as I ordered back in June as an early adopter. If you price up the blue high end gear for a like for like spec, including cables, breakers, inverter, chargers, and your additional installation time then you’ll find it’s cheaper to buy this Ecoflow Power Kit. I won’t allow stupid comments and I won’t allow trolling here, if your comment is nasty it’ll be removed.
I like the idea of the distribution board. Very nice... 👍 Only thing they have missed I think is a rail between the positive and negative so you can cable tie or clamp the 12v wires so there's no strain on the connections 👍
It's a bit picky, but it's just what I thought too. Something ecoflo might do with an update unit to be like rj45, rj11 trays. 👍👍 For me, that wouldn't be a deal breaker for anyone wanting to go down this route.
That’s a real plug and play system, so simple to hook up, everything clearly indented and even individual indexing on the plugs to prevent wrong connections. As an ex aircraft electrician (and we can be very picky) I’d have preferred a bit more of a loop giving some small slack on those connections into the distribution board to prevent vibration pulling the wires out of the clip type connections. And maybe a couple of stick on cable tie blocks in the centre between the pos and neg connection strips to prevent the wires moving with vibration. But I realise this was only a demo connect up, final connections will be made when you’ve installed it properly. But this will be an incredibly neat installation. The way you’ve described it even a complete novice would be able to follow and have the confidence to do it themselves. This is going to be an epic system. Hope you had a good night out, not too many beers and burgers!
The modular controls are epic. Would love that. Recently had to swap my 14 year old obsolete fuse board for an updated Nordelettronica one when it fried itself. I looked at doing this upgrade, but without starting from scratch it would be a real labour of love to chase the wiring around in a fitted out Moho. This is a great upgrade and the reason to build it yourself.
You just couldn't wait to get that all up and running like a kid a Christmas ,the smile said it all. As you are about to start the furniture ,i actually leveled my van with chocks to the solid structure so i could use a spirit level to get things plumb and level and you do like a gadget so a laser level is right up your street and makes life a lot easier.
What an absolutely awesome setup. There's no doubt that this stuff is the future. Just need to sell my soul to afford it... ;-) Thanks for sharing, John. 🙂
Loving this build series. This is definitely the way to go with a new build, makes a lot of sense where you can design the layout to take the individual units ahead of actually fitting any of the furniture and fittings. Also it's removable if you swap vans or modify the arrangements. Still plenty of wiring work to do yet but so easy to hook up to the main distribution board. Great choice of system 👌 👋
Seriously impressed…. I’ve been an EcoFlow fan for a number of years mainly because of their impressive output and speedy charging and have had several of their power stations. The power kits look awesome and simple plug and play solutions. In the UK Power2Go do have some Black Friday deals on for EcoFlow at the moment through - I just bought the River for £250 which is a significant saving on RRP. I think this kind of installation is going to make existing van and boat setups seem underpowered and pretty redundant. Looking forward to seeing it installed and working on your travels 👍
Serious piece of kit actually thought it would be more expensive well worth it if your off grid living way things are going its only the price of a few electric bills
you have already answered above, i was going to say i guess this set up is quite expensive compared to buying all the bits like you did before, but having said that, its so simple to set up and for those that are 'scared' of the electrics, it looks a fantastic set up, and to remote control 6 items from phone if really good. and has saved a lot of time, cutting cables and crimping the ends and connecting to the batteries. i am impressed.
you look very happy and excited about the power system. i am happy for you John. my conversion will be to use minimal possible power. solar energy is a disappointment specially in uk, lithium batteries are expensive and do not last, even your power system will only last ten years. I guess you can sell the van before that happens or replace the batteries. not worth the hassle. everything will run on 12 VDC even my laptop. i will not be parked in the same place more than two days, my hot water is free from the calorifier heater connected to engine cooling matrix, the only thing i need is DC to DC charger. three AGM batteries, one split charge relay and Bob is your uncle. I will have a toilet, a shower, a TV, USB ports, lights, roof vents. a small portable picnic gas stove with canisters, a sink with hot and cold water. just the basics really. not having solar, inverter, shore power is easily doable, I had so much in my last conversion that i never needed. will save a lot of money. if you have the money yes why not. as for the Solway panels they look really nice, i am just wondering if they will have condensation on them, they should not really if properly insulated. it will be sometime but I do look forward to your one year after completion review.
Would be especially great for you both to go abroad. So much more economical to take trips you both want to do together. Hope Ecoflow are extremely grateful for your review John.
Very neat and looks very easy to set up. Looks like a great option if you want a good electrical set up with a decent amount of 12V & 240V for appliances and devices without paying an auto electrician to install it for you. Looking forward to seeing it all installed in the finished van.
A really nice plug and play system, I would be worried about a breakdown out of warranty costing a packet to get sorted, but if that doesn’t happen it’s seriously neat.

That is the absolute mutt's nut's! I said when I first heard about it I'd 100% be using it in any future build, the time it must save is huge not needing to mess about with the separate components and cable's. Can't wait to see the final installation 👍🏻
Love this kinds of videos. Love the Motorhome I have t the moment (Frankia) but in a few years time intend to do a self build and these vids are giving me some great ideas. Keep up the good work.
I think the only way this ‘system or setup’ could be bettered mate would be if Ecoflow 1. offered custom cable lengths to avoid the inevitable spaghetti and coiling up… 2. A higher power inverter about 5kw. Imagine being able to use that instant hot tap from your prev vid for a shower! 👌🏼 and cook at the same time That’s the only downsides for me as lots of 48v all in ones offer higher power inverters much cheaper. I get why it costs what it does, it’s very clever and either way it’s the future no doubt for gasless van builds and can’t wait to see it fully installed and tested 👍🏼👍🏼
Great video John I am a caravan man but interested in all types of camping out and van building, I have purchased a Ecoflow Delta Pro with a 400w panel as for its weight I shall place in the back of the car and charge and use when off grid .
Mate, this looks fantastic and so simple. I reckon even I’d be able to fit this…. And I’m a plasterer 😂😂 I know people will think it’s expensive but for someone like me who has no clue with electrical work it would take the worry out of it. Thanks for showing how simple it is to wire in your stuff (max fans) too🙌🙌☕️
Hi John This kit looks fab - I’ve got an ecoflow delta max 2000 - bought it a few months ago and I’m very pleased with it - I might have to look at installing your setup now though 😊 - nice work
It looks a very handy system and imagine it saves hours and hours on the install with it. Looks a neat idea with some clever features. Really enjoying your van conversion series as love the different ideas. Have a great rest of the weekend. All the best, David 👍
This could be an option for fitting to a house as a stand alone system over a drid tied system I've been looking at 12v system for my flat roof extension cos of cost saving being able to do it myself but this takes it to another level guessing just normal solar id what u would connect to it
That’s really good , well impressed . The future is her it seems lol . Just one question, so you can plug your solar on the roof you fitted straight into it (same adapter on your solar to fit straight on it?) great vid John 👍🏼
Great video. Really interesting. I had been looking at Victron so far for our truck but really love the simplicity of this. Was just wondering about their support service if you have an issue in the middle of no where or how easy is it to get repairs made. Also can you expand the 12v breaker board to give more outputs? Do they have a distributor in the UK that you can speak with? Sorry , a lot of questions now that it has got me thinking.
I’ve contacted support a couple of time to clarify some tech specs, they’re fast at getting back to you and provided good info. You can connect up another fuse box, but bear in mind the power limit of the entire board and individual ports.
We bought an Echo flow river, plus extra battery, plus solar panels a while back, but just had an email from Amazon to say Ecoflow product call back, they sent me a link but its all in German, have you heard of any recalls.
They aint cheap but I love these, takes the faff out of van builds😍😍 Also, easily transferable to another van in the event of the engine or gearbox ever sh***ing itself. @@GadgetJohn 🤔👍 Watching with interest, I want to upgrade van size and I can remember hating doing the electrics, had daily Amazon deliveries of all the bits I needed or forgot to order. Good luck with the build👍
Thanks for sharing this …. Very exciting. Just checked and all the kits are out of stock so that tells it’s own story. Two questions…. What is the max open voltage for this sort of kit for panels. Other question is how much do you estimate it saves on a gas install ( cost as well as space) as I expect this is another major benefit. Keep them coming
The spec for solar input is on the website, always best to check their system specs, I’ll be running a 48v solar system to match the internal 48v of the ecoflow power hub. I can well believe they’re out of stock given how great this system is.
Hi John, bit of advice please what are you planning regarding internet into the van. I have lots and lots of data on my phone but more and more we are getting very poor signal inside the motorhome when on campsites, do you have a vlog on this subject or anything you can recommend as I don’t really want another cost in the way of a SIM card. Cheers John can’t wait to see you out and about in your new baby ❤️ Cheers 🐧🐧
Your van is blocking your signal as it’s a metal box & more campsites are located in rural areas which means you’d need to have an external antenna to boost your signal, it’s illegal to boost phone signals in the UK, so the only solution is WiFi hotspot with external connections for the aforementioned antenna. I have a video all about it linked in the video description.
The software will let you decide how to handle that, basically you can trigger the smart alternator to keep running if you’re low on power & need a good charge.
Hi John Nothing to do with electrics but were you aware that the Chinese diesel heater will fit behind the wheel arch on the offside on an l 3 van theres a space for all the exhaust air and fuel pipes to exit underneath, its tight but I've done it . 😉 I bet you've already fitted it by the time you read this😂🤣
Did you choose this setup over others because of ease of setting up or is it more efficient. What you said about turning on your heating etc before going back to your van, threis a 5 block 240v extension lead that you can control each individual socket by Bluetooth which makes a cheaper alternative
If I could afford, I'd have this system installed in my house. Combined with existing solar array, I'd be net zero. I'm almost there using allpowers generators at the moment., with one powering my van. This manufactured crisis has played well for green initiatives but if anything long term, it may save me pennies on normal domestic energy. Well done, looking forward to installation. Would you consider selling any unused ecoflow items? If you are and price is good, I'd like to consider. In any event, in relation to building for 2, always build for one size up I say, that is planning ahead and gives better accommodation.
An absolute bargain at 4.5k GBP but it's certainly not that price now and from what I can see from the website it's more like 9k! My quality system is 5kw Lipo, 2kw blue smart inverter and a German made triple charger which comes in at well under half the 9k Ecoflow system price with all cables and fuses etc included. Obvs a lot more work involved to hook it all up but it's a learning experience I enjoy.
@@GadgetJohn Half?? 6kwh @9k GBP v 5kwh @4k GBP?? True my inverter is only 2kW but you don't need anything more as that powers my water heater (800w), a kettle (700w) and laptops etc simultaneously with capacity to spare!
Hi John, do you plan to use the 60 or 90 amp DC-DC and do you anticipate needing to upgrade the alternator on the van? Looking forward to seeing it all installed, looks awesome.
I think my alternator is 150A so for now I’ll use the 60A charger output, but in the future I can upgrade to a 250A alternator and then I’ll hookup the 2nd charger to get 90A
It looks like a no-brainer for a new installation…. Just wondering how much of a PITA it will be to upgrade / retrofit an existing van…. but this is clearly the way to go…
Hi John with all your High End Expensive Electrics and Electronics, Are you going to install an Alarm and Immobiliser ? Or are you going the Deadlock, Disklok route. Only ask as I have watched a few videos showing how easy it is to get around the Immobiliser, bit scary.
No matter what systems you out on your van it can be towed away if they want it, or they’ll break in and steal what they can within 2 minutes. I’ll be having the same security as I’ve had on all my previous vans.
john i took my ecoflow power kit back out my build and got rid. i decided to go with all seprates items again simply for the fact if the invertor or whatever broke your totaly screwed as you would be without power while you get it orted. dont get me wrong its an aweome bit of kit but jusst not for me.
Very tidy system if a little expensive sounding. I suppose if you just cost the batteries alone they are lithium and larger output than most people might require. Sargent really must make a change to their outdated system now surely!!?
I just wanted to point out that this system cost me £4,500 as I ordered back in June as an early adopter.

That’s actually not as bad as I though. Considering that’s about £3500 worth of batteries there. They are lifepo4 aren’t they?
Yes, actually newer spec so they’re LFP type.
@@GadgetJohn nice one. I’ve just installed a 2kw lifepo4 battery. Incredible
Good you cleared up the £ situation as that was my concern when you were presenting this... but for the money this is an amazing set up!!!
@@deanie557Look at all the comments, there is free speech galore. People are giving their different views, it’s all good.
The fact that I can stack those LFP batteries can save me a lot of precious space in my van.
The R&D that's gone into this EcoFlow Power kit is ridiculous. They should win awards for this stuff.
It’s very well developed, but that’s also ongoing too, so the additional features from software updates is cool.
Seems like the whole Power Kit is modular so I can fully customize the system to my space and needs.

Did you choose this setup over others because of ease of setting up or is it more efficient. What you said about turning on your heating etc before going back to your van, threis a 5 block 240v extension lead that you can control each individual socket by Bluetooth which makes a cheaper alternative
I chose this setup for the additional power & efficiency, but also because of the features and it’s cool AF too 😎
If I could afford, I'd have this system installed in my house.
I’ve only got products I’ve bought, I therefore need my ecoflow products.
So you paid half the price but only got half the power, try comparing spec for spec.
Did you have to install a resister to the mirror indicators
No
john i took my ecoflow power kit back out my build and got rid. i decided to go with all seprates items again simply for the fact
if the invertor or whatever broke your totaly screwed as you would be without power while you get it orted. dont get me wrong its an aweome bit of kit but jusst not for me.
That’s why I ordered the delta 2 as my backup
@@GadgetJohn good call
Not sure if I missed but went back and couldnt hear....Built in b2b john ? edit...just went back and seen 60a
Yes, I talk about that a lot in this video at the start
Very tidy system if a little expensive sounding. I suppose if you just cost the batteries alone they are lithium and larger output than most people might require. Sargent really must make a change to their outdated system now surely!!?
👍
This build is so exciting!
But the electrics are going to be the best bit # porn 🤣
It even looks expensive 😬
Amazing kit. It's this progress with suppliers that makes the undertaking of self builds possible for all 🚐😁
Great setup to keep you going off grid. I also don’t care if you bought it, sold your body to pay for it or got given it👍🏼🛠🚐🇦🇪🔋
👍
