    Hi Richard, really good info to new people, who want's to go into the magic of repair lenses. And why it's so important to set small mark's where the helicoid get apart the thread's.

    If you make a mistake why not use some (insulation) tape to span the circumference from the 2 distant marks. Then you can re-assemble again rotated by the length of the tape.

    Hi Richard, thank you for sharing all of your experience with us. Hope you are doing ok there in Japan. Your post about Fujiya brought back memories. I found that shop in 2005 and over the years purchased several lenses from them including 24mm f2 AI-S, 35mm f1.4 AI-S, 35mm f2 AI-S, 85mm f1.8 AF-D, plus one or two others that escape me at the moment.     my 50 1.4 ai is is stripped down to component parts the lens groups are ok but i cant alighn the helicoids getting a bit frustrated

    Thanks that is useful to see. I have an old Pentacon lens that does not hit infinity, I look forward to giving this a go shortly to see if I can fix it.

    I'm trying to find helicoid that I can use for M39 enlarger lenses but use them for portraits and Landscapes not macro ebay is the circus finding a reputable dealer. Any suggestions
