Really old video of a plugin that I made in 2011. Prototyped in Python, rewritten with c , but was super buggy.

A short video illustrating how subject detection works with an adapted lens. See richardhaw.com for more details.

You are not camera or camera lens handy! Do something else.!
What paper do you use to clean the screen??
Thanks for the butane tip! I got a bad case of bayonet screw on my Nikon 135mm AI-S f/2 and I want to be careful I won't ruin the screw heads
How doable is this for someone to complete?
I am fascinated by the guts of these mechanical marvels and how they could engineer and build them so durable. I just recently re-acquired an FT2, an FT3, and an ELW, all in excellent condition. I am putting them through a test to determine how accurately they all still function. Thank you for this video.
No "hack" that was just as waste of time.
Shouldn’t a CLA include CLEANING? I thought the proper way would be to disassemble everything, clean every party and the lubricate them when putting them together, and not lubricating on top of old grease…
Hi sir, a srew has fallen inside the lens, and I want to disassembly the lens to take back the screw, do you have the instructions for that?
This could have been todays Ricoh...
Recently after a weekend of shooting punk shows and protests the mettering tab ring isnt not snapping back quickly. It does slowly move after aperture ring is rotated. My guess is some beer or some type fluid is sticky in there. How difficult is it to disassemble and clean metering probg ring for fe2?
Increíble manteniendo, es hermoso ver todo este video 🤙👏👍🇦🇷
a fine looking Nikkor Q 25cm for the rangefinder mount!
Hi, at the beginning you were talking about using glue to clean the camera. Is it any glue or some special type? Do you use it on any type of dirt? Would it also work on corrosion?
how the hell do you reinstall
Brilliant lens!
hey how are you i need to fix my nikon rangefinder let me know
Benzene?? Cancer! I'm looking for a N80 lubrication vid.....thanks
thank you!
45:02 With the little stick had me slow clapping. Deep bow and hats off.
still hoping for similar video on f2..
Thank you Richard! I followed your instructions and have successfully cleaned 4 Nikkors so far. One question: could you or someone tell me what size of flat head screwdriver should I get for the micro Nikkor-P 55mm f/3.5 pre-ai? It has the flat head screws on the bayonet mount. Thanks in advance!
The Wera driver you have is clearly marked PH0, presumably for Phillips, although I think they do make a JIS driver. Also i'm not sure why you use a torch to heat up a screw when you can use soldering iron to apply heat in a much more controlled manner, and nicer irons have adjustable temperatures too.
Thank you for your video. I can't find a way to digitize negatives AND use the electronic shutter AND focus peaking. Not having focus peaking makes focusing the negatives very difficult. And not having the electronic shutter means that you are wearing up the mechanical shutter. Did you find a way to have focus peaking and the electronic (or silent) shutter enabled? Thank you
1:08 That Wera driver is marked 'PH 0', so I assume it's a Philips Size 0, not a JIS Size 0. (edit: typo correction)
Richard, do you have a source for the shutter cords for this camera?
So cool. I love my Nikon F
So cool!!
This is such a pleasure to watch! I wish I knew what he was saying but it's still great. Thank you.
When you get home please don't forget to tell your F's, and F2's, that you love them! 😄😃🙂
You start in the MIDDLE. You MUMBLE. you take the damn camera obviously 90% APART, and put the knobs back on. If this is supposed to be instructional, you're failing miserably. If this is just a self-aggrandizing "Hey, look at cool me take stuff apart" WITHOUT making it understood to the viewers, just don;t post at all.
For those curious, these tend to be 00 JIS screws, not 0.
It depends: I just started working on my Nikkor 2.8 / 180 AF, and this lense definitely has JIS 0 screws holding the bajonet. JIS 00 ist way too small here (I own both drivers). Lenses of shorter focal length mostly have smaller screws here, which have JIS 00 heads.
If you make a mistake why not use some (insulation) tape to span the circumference from the 2 distant marks. Then you can re-assemble again rotated by the length of the tape.
Hi Richard, thanks for the fantastic video. And I CLA my contax IIa camera and adjust the shutter,But I have a problem:The 1/1250 speed is missing after I CLA my camera,The shutter can move but it can not open when its work by 1/1250 speed. Best regards
Hi, the focus on my lens is too loose (but the manual focus ring feels perfect). If I move the lens a bit, focus changes. What can I do? Thanks.
Watched the entire thing, can't speak a word of the language but what a great technician. I'll hug my Nikon F Apollo tonight. Thanks.
Wow you got to play with the Nikon DL system that never saw the light of day.
Good point on the clockwise turn first. Got my bayonet mount off
can i use just vinegar to cleanup fungus...will it work?
whats your hydrogen peroxide concentration %?
Big thanks for that film Richard.
Excellent video! I wish I'd seen it sooner, as, after watching two other videos before this one, I was no further along in removing the screws on the lens mount, and I'd come pretty close to mangling the screw heads, although I didn't ruin any of them - fortunately! I wish some of the other folks here on the 'tube had talked about the importance of using the proper tools - ie, JIS screwdrivers, rather than Phillips ones. Great channel!
Excellent website, Richard. Thank you very much. I'm working on a Nikkor-N 24mm 2.8 AI conversion and I found a soldering iron tip was useful here - 300C for 20-30seconds - following your advice. I doubt I'd have managed this successfully had I attempted to butcher the screws loose on my own volition.
thanks for a repair video of my favourite camera :-)
when reinstalling governor does the camera need to be in a particular setting?
Thumbs up o. The video. I have a Nikon f2 all the slow speeds are shooting fast. Any idea what’s going on?
怪物Niko Fを手際よく整備する、貴重なNikonの職人❗。 凄い動画をありがとうございました。
I just got a FT and a 50mm lens last night and I love it. It’s a bit quirky because it’s different, but I think it’s a great camera.
I think it is showing that you may be able to bring a "dead" selenium meter to life by shining a light onto the meter. I have an old Sekonic that I assumed was dead but i put it under a desk lamp and it showed life. Now I have to see if it will act consistently.
Hello, do you sell these? Wondering if it can be adapted to an L MOUNT
I like using a soldering iron tip to heat up the screws
How long and do you wait until it cools down before trying again?
