It can be hard to try to track where the player released the ball in the actual animation and at the same time remember how the meter behaved. From what I could tell from the video, the green window corelates pretty well with when the layup is open. Basically, if what's going on on the court looks like it should be a good time to release the shot, like in real life, it should be a green release. But of course, we'll have to see how it works in the actual game.

Just take the meter off at the very start. I’ve been using layup meter with the meter off since they’ve added it and it’s way easier to time them when you don’t have a meter distracting you since all animations have different timings. Just release just before you’re about to let the ball go but as it’s definitely still in your hands.

Another way to understand why it’s wideopen, the 3 green spots infront/under your player dictates wether there’s a contest. In the clips u showed, u can see the green spots turn red then go back green showing u if you’re getting contested or not. Really helpful for anyone tryna figure out if they’ve got an open shot with a defender who doesn’t use right stick (hands up).
Ok so basically that strength will matter to get to the bucket and have stamina and strength to go up uncontested or contested and layup. Should put big IQ in perspective this year

Someone asked what the point of all the new meters were for if there is such a heavy incentive for turning them off. Wang said "for the layups and dunk meters." Are you sure the boost is for layups?

In 2k23 you could have a 95 lay-up but if you had zéro Dunk you would not have enough badge to get last tier badge meaning no slithery Si i think this badge system is a Win for people that Wanna Slash without dunk

You do not get boost wat the meter off for lay ups an dunk keep the meter on and use pro touch for 20 percent boots for layups
