Though it's not confirmed, I feel like the prison of Akira's Velvet room is, to some degree, appropriate. Akira is imprisoned by society and the pressure of the masses. Hence, in Royal, once he enters the thrid semester where he works with Lavenza and the real Igor, he is still in prison. That is, until later when his cell is open and he's in his clothing that represents a "spirit of rebellion". I do think it may have manifested as something else, but because of Yaldabaoth's "Game", the general masses' oppression was made all the more prevolent, so as to form the prison in Akira's Velvet Room. So I think, while Yaldabaoth inevitably influenced the formation of Akira's Velvet room, the prison truly was a reflection of Akira's heart as "Spirits of Rebellion" and "Being chained down by the power of the masses" is a central theme in persona 5
also the fact arsene lupin was arrested for helping a woman in need and got sent to a prison with the exact dimensions (4m x 2.5m x 3m) and sectors (14) as jokers velvet room/cell, this pretty much secures the fact this Is his velvet room
For the Velvet room's color, it always reminded me of the blue from an old computer's debugging/default screen. The room acts like a command prompt for the collective unconscious with music/tarot reading as the input rather than keystrokes. Even with the ability to do a lot in the Velvet Room it needs the actions of a living user to do anything and even then what it can do is limited to that user's knowledge. Persona 5 even proved it was possible to infect it and cause problems for an unwitting user but it cannot be destroyed (because that would take down the entire system with it)
The computer theme also works, as the smt equivalent to the velvet room is the cathedral of shadows, which converts your demons back into data and fuses them.

You know what's interesting? People tend to make their own versions of the Room and it's kinda nice to see what they can come up with, considering that it's a place that changes shape. For instance. there's one version from a fanfic I read weeks ago. This version is shaped like a Classroom and contains some doors that contains branchs. And the outside looks like a landscape devastated by fire. As the protagonist progresses, the flames are put out. BTW, the protagonist is Female Hakuno from the Fate Series. Yes, it was a crossover. Another version took shape of an Airport. There isn't much else I know. My personal favorite is from another fanfic. In it, it looks like a fancy Science Lab. The walls are littered with monitors, tubes and all things related to Science. There are windows that allow us to see outside, which is outer space. Oh, and it has it's OC Attendant. The other ones had characters we already know. The first one I mentioned had Caroline and Justine (for some reason) and the second one had Margaret. This one has an OC character that, obviously, dresses like a Scientist and his Compendium takes shape of a Tablet. His name is Victor. I believe that figuring out the reference it's a no-brainer. I'll be looking forward to see how many people can make their customized Velvet Rooms and how interesting they may look.

It's still absolutely fucking crazy to me how yabbadabbadoo (not even gonna try spelling it) was able to not only break into the velvet room uninvited but defeat Igor and split Lavenza in two, when they are probably some of the strongest beings in the entire damn multiverse
in reality the assistants are not so powerful, they are a little below the level of the protagonist on duty and igor is nothing more than an assistant to a much more powerful entity I'm not surprised that something like the Jaldabaot could easily take them on, as it is impossible for the protagonist to defeat him alone, needing MUCH EXTRA HELP

Igor did create Morgana last second and he could really be a shadow, as there have been shadow characters in the past games (ryoji and Teddie) What I think(this will be wrong, sorry Edit:meant long, not wrong) When humanity unconsciously desired for a ruler, mementos was created and Yaldy takes root in the depths as the treasure. I guess Igor and Lavenza(maybe some more attendants) head down to the depths and battle. Why a trickster wasn't found beforehand, idk they might've been taking auditions still Obv, they lose. Lavenza splits, Igor is taken over and Morgana is created. But my theory is(and this could be totally wrong): Igor creates Morgana. He also appears in another David Lynch movie "Mulholland Dr." in a bit of a different, but still dream induced role. He influenced the creators of Persona 1 and they just kept the theme going. A reasonable thought but Joker's heart was free because he was able to summon a Persona. It was a prison because the God of Control was trying to keep tabs on him so Joker would not beat him in the end.

I started with 5 when it came out, but couldn't get around to playing it after my bf took the ps4 with him to school, so I was stuck with his ps2 and my roommates psp. So I played p3 and p3p through out this past winter and p4 this past spring. I actually was able to finish 5 with my bf this summer! They were all fun and while I must say 3 is my fav, they all have their magic to them that make each one special. I hope to find the psp ver. of Revelations Persona (aka Persona 1) to play it and also find Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment (the two Persona 2 games). I'm super excited that I became a fan right as the most recent game released and was blessed to play the other cult classics, and I hope everyone who is interested looks into the series!

Honestly, I feel like Atlus should have done more with her character. Like, have her interact with the group outside of her Social Link, and have them react to her tsundere personality negatively at first, before warming up to her as the story goes on. For example, after Yu introduces her to the group after Yukiko's catle is finished, she would make an insult aimed at either Yosuke, Chie or Yukiko, or all three to get under their skin. She then gets either dumbfounded or shocked at their negative reaction, then during her social link, Yu tries to explain the situation and her behavior to them while they hang out

You know what's interesting? People tend to make their own versions of the Room and it's kinda nice to see what they can come up with, considering that it's a place that changes shape.
For instance. there's one version from a fanfic I read weeks ago. This version is shaped like a Classroom and contains some doors that contains branchs. And the outside looks like a landscape devastated by fire. As the protagonist progresses, the flames are put out. BTW, the protagonist is Female Hakuno from the Fate Series. Yes, it was a crossover.
Another version took shape of an Airport. There isn't much else I know.
My personal favorite is from another fanfic. In it, it looks like a fancy Science Lab. The walls are littered with monitors, tubes and all things related to Science. There are windows that allow us to see outside, which is outer space. Oh, and it has it's OC Attendant. The other ones had characters we already know. The first one I mentioned had Caroline and Justine (for some reason) and the second one had Margaret. This one has an OC character that, obviously, dresses like a Scientist and his Compendium takes shape of a Tablet. His name is Victor. I believe that figuring out the reference it's a no-brainer.
I'll be looking forward to see how many people can make their customized Velvet Rooms and how interesting they may look.

It's still absolutely fucking crazy to me how yabbadabbadoo (not even gonna try spelling it) was able to not only break into the velvet room uninvited but defeat Igor and split Lavenza in two, when they are probably some of the strongest beings in the entire damn multiverse
in reality the assistants are not so powerful, they are a little below the level of the protagonist on duty and igor is nothing more than an assistant to a much more powerful entity
I'm not surprised that something like the Jaldabaot could easily take them on, as it is impossible for the protagonist to defeat him alone, needing MUCH EXTRA HELP

Obv, they lose. Lavenza splits, Igor is taken over and Morgana is created. But my theory is(and this could be totally wrong):
Igor creates Morgana. He is created by those black and red sludge effect thing, and since Igor and gang were fighting Yaldy, it explains why the background is mementos. Perhaps Igor was inflicted with Distorted Wrath, but could resist it well enough. Morgana was created with Wrath affecting him, but Igor healed him, gave him Zorro(?) and told him to find the trickster, and disappeared. That's maybe why morg's eyes are yellow bc awakening and stuff

Akira's Velvet Room would still have been a prison due to what happened to him but the "Holy Grail" still had a huge part in it still. Plus, if you talk to Lavenza on the last day of the game, P5/P5R, she'll end up giving him the key for his cell and is told that the key would have been given to the Trickster upon the first visit.

He also appears in another David Lynch movie "Mulholland Dr." in a bit of a different, but still dream induced role. He influenced the creators of Persona 1 and they just kept the theme going. My headcanon is that nameless and belladona are always hidden in the velvet room, in angles where the camera can´t spot them.
Now that I’m thinking about it in every game that doesn’t show them physically there is a way that the music can be played. In p3 there’s the elevator speakers. In p4 there’s the car radio. And in p5 there’s the speakers hanging from the ceiling.
I thought yalba mentioned that the room takes the form of someone’s heart and that akira truly felt imprisoned in his heart.
I assumed that the reason he broke out later in the game was because his heart was freed.
A reasonable thought but Joker's heart was free because he was able to summon a Persona. It was a prison because the God of Control was trying to keep tabs on him so Joker would not beat him in the end.

If you ever get the opportunity, then I say do it!! I started with 5 when it came out, but couldn't get around to playing it after my bf took the ps4 with him to school, so I was stuck with his ps2 and my roommates psp. So I played p3 and p3p through out this past winter and p4 this past spring. I actually was able to finish 5 with my bf this summer! They were all fun and while I must say 3 is my fav, they all have their magic to them that make each one special. I hope to find the psp ver. of Revelations Persona (aka Persona 1) to play it and also find Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment (the two Persona 2 games). I'm super excited that I became a fan right as the most recent game released and was blessed to play the other cult classics, and I hope everyone who is interested looks into the series!

Honestly, I feel like Atlus should have done more with her character. Like, have her interact with the group outside of her Social Link, and have them react to her tsundere personality negatively at first, before warming up to her as the story goes on. For example, after Yu introduces her to the group after Yukiko's catle is finished, she would make an insult aimed at either Yosuke, Chie or Yukiko, or all three to get under their skin. She then gets either dumbfounded or shocked at their negative reaction, then during her social link, Yu tries to explain the situation and her behavior to them while they hang out

Appalled by the sinful creation she made she locked Yaldabaoth outside of the Qliphort and surrounded him with impenetrable fog.
Yaldabaoth awoke to a formless world and only saw itself and thus concluded it was the god of existence. Using a fraction of the power he inherited from Sophia he created everything we know in the material realm, including the angels, demon, and humans.
Nyarlathotep is a deceiver and shapeshifter. Sort of the one True existing creature (From my knowledge, correct me if I am wrong). Yaldabaoth is more powerful than Nyarlathotep in more ways than one. Eventually, Satanael, the ultimate judge, managed to put an end to Yaldabaoth. But only after the immense trials of Persona 5.

I mean, Yaldabaoth is the Demiurge, the malevolent God that created the materials realm that we exist in, according to Gnostic mythology, while Sophia is the true God. I know Nyarlathotep can do a whole lot of things but Yaldabaoth should be near Yog'Sothoth levels. Then again, that's not the Persona lore.
