This is just one of his classic articles that serve as an excuse to his actions. He did it so many times, he made a lot of video essays that were supposed to convince us for why the development is taking so long, or for why he prefers to work alone or not have a secretary that will help him with community feedback, or even a video that manipulativly claims that all the bad things that are said about him are purposfully spread false rumours and that he's just being bullied. That man has been manipulative and downright egotistical for a very very long time
I know at one point Tinybuild (Developers of Hello Neighbor) helped him out when things were getting a little rough, but that probably means he kicked them to the curb too?
Oh yeah he partnered with them at some point, they helped him financially and to also port Yandere Simulator from the old version of Unity that he was using to the newer one and that means they even fixed the code for him back then. But considering how the code is messy again and he's Patreon dependent only, yeah it's safe to say that they stopped working together. @@TheSoulGage

funny thing is, I only got wise to his bs because of one of his meltdowns. I only followed his dev blog and youtube so one day when he dropped some absolutely self-serving crap about the goblins trying to keep him down and that something insane like 70% of his dev time was spent handling emails (which he vitriolically refused to let anyone else manage).. I looked into the situation. And it was immediately obvious that he was the only one standing in his own way

Unfortunately those comments are probably real. I remember watching the stream from the admin of a certain New Zealand drama forum who ended up having to call the parents of an obsessed fan who was going crazy defending YandereDev on the forum. YanDev’s fan base is young and obsessive, which make the situation even more disturbing. It also means that there’s a 0% chance anyone else picks up the game because the rabid fan base will devour them like they did other competing games.
Really hope this isn’t an entrapment situation either. There’s a reason EDP walks free, and it’ll just give YanDev plausible deniability going forward.
But it wasn't even the fans who killed the other games it was yandev himself going after the other creators, he militarized his influence to kill other yan sim games

Known he was a nonce for a while. If I recall he came up with a "Sex license" concept that would allow kids to have sex with adults if they passed some "test" to acquire it. So this recent unfortunate grossness could definitely be seen coming miles away. He also got called out for that shit back then too and repeatedly over the years so he can't even use metal health making him into a "mistake machine." What he did is not a mistake. A mistake is something you do unintentionally, what he did was blatantly malisious intent. He intended to speak to his child fans inappropriately & I don't want that to be warped by him. The only "mistake" on his part is getting caught. What he did is part of a continuous pattern. I don't think he's gonna actually change, I think he's only saying any of this just to get people off his back. Give it a month & it'll be like he learned nothing.

I feel like Yandev's entire purpose is to be the exact opposite of a good indie game dev. Like take the pull stay guy, exact opposite. Only interacts with his audience as it relates to the game, but stays extremely transparent about his life and mistakes as well as dev progress. Prioritizes the essentials and only asked for money when he had a basically complete game but felt it wasn't finished anyway. Takes advice from his critics, improves and makes progress despite never having done game dev before. Doesn't get intimate (sexually or in a friends way) with any of his fans yet is incredibly friendly to all of them. Expresses his appreciation for his fans often.

If Yandere Simulator was set in a college rather than a high school, it'd be more acceptable. If YanDev knows what's good for him, he'll cut his losses now and either sell the project off or terminate it entirely. He just shouldn't be online anymore.

I always hate this tactic of offloading of agency (and thusly, responsibility) by using the mental health card, outside of a few disorders that cause psychosis/delusions, mental illnesses don’t involuntary disable a person’s morality. So many apologies involve this kind of distancing between themselves and the horrible things they’ve done to lower accountability and make themselves the “bigger victim” of everything that happened.
They’re self pity parties that focus only on their own emotional state to elicit sympathy and omit any focus on their victims well-being. Apology posts seem to only ever address the audience/followers they don’t want to lose, rather than a direct apology to the victims they wronged.

He can't cancel his game unless he's willing to get a real job - and I think we all know he's not willing to get a real job nor could he hold down a real job even if he was willing to get one.

He was given an out by collaborating with TinyBuild but was so blinded by his own mediocre coding that he wouldn't give the company enough room to breathe. A small modicum of props for the guy for owning up to it and not claiming to go try a girl's cupcakes, but for a guy with a massive ego he shouldn't have been looking for affection from a child. If he was so concerned with his mental health he should have just ended production, shipped out what he had and went outside to touch grass. If games like Garden of Ban Ban and Poppy Playtime are any indication, he wouldn't be the only one to ship out his game in segments if he wished to further development afterwards.

anyone wonder how this game even got popular in the first place? it's basically just fanmade Hitman with a Anime aesthetic made by an American. Not only that, all Assets are stolen/borrowed somewhere, there is no art direction nor even basic concept of lighting, the level design is bare bones, Models are also either stolen or borrowed for free, all the more talented Coders and animators either fired for touching his code or left because they can't stand him. How do so many people not see the writing on the wall?
It's like some mentally ill guy got a very creative idea, but we confuse his poorly built lego structure with pre set Figures he did not made as sound safe building made by a genius architecture with original unique characters on the very first day he release his game.

One thing that bothers me about this whole YanDev situation is that it took until this point for people to not want to support him anymore. Over the years he has shown time and time again that he is an absolute asshole man child, constantly having insane outbursts lashing out at fans, can't handle any level of criticism or advice, blaming his fans for being the reason he can't make progress on the game, telling people to *self delete* and then turning around and crying about his mental health, and so on, but he still gets tons of support. Even after this stuff has come out, he still has people supporting him which is insane.

Don't let yanderedev convince you that 9 years is a reasonable amount of time to spend on this game. This is 100% something that a small team of 3-4 competent developers and artists could make in under 6 months for less than $50k
50k is not enough. 4 devs say 2.5k per month each. including your countries taxes on wages for companies since a wage of 2.5k here would mean a total cost of 5k here for the company. So wages alone would result in about 120k for 6 months. Then you got costs for revenue taxes and things like assets and equipment. Most smaller companies don't have a dedicated sound guy so they outsource that. Anyway it's always more expensive than you think it is. Ofcourse a few devs doing it in their freetime without expecting a proper wage can surely do it. Ps. 2.5k is actually not a livable wage in a lot of places in america i think. Would only be a yearly wage of 30k.
I mean if he was making something akin to a triple a title literally by himself with no money and no other people helping him (like voice acting), then sure I'd say 9 years is closer to a reasonable amount of time, but a game like this? 3 - 5 years at most solely by himself would be a more reasonable amount of time, especially if he had actually rolled with the MAJOR improvements TinyBuild tried to help him implement (such as tidying up all of his code and actually making the game run efficiently.) Dude has literally no excuse
@@mayravixx25 9 years is still not reasonable even at that point. It wouldn't even be possible, even if YanDev was a competent dev. Triple A games are more than just looks. The budget and scale of development is taken into consideration as well.
6 months and 50k? With only 3-4 devs? I can tell you have no game dev experience, so here's something more feasible from a real dev.
Aside from beta-testers, lets say you have a dev team of 4 people. And lets say we discount the weeks or months that it will take for the 4 people to discuss, roadmap, and fully plan every aspect of the game, from form, function, direction, gameplay, features, etc. So we start from Ground 0 with nothing but plans, a dream, and whatever software they plan on using. It will still take at LEAST a year for the game to come anywhere near the Beta stage, and this is if all 4 devs are working on the game full-time with no long holidays in between.
A lot of people don't seem to understand that in game development, the feedback loop usually takes a long time. Beta testers test every stage of development, report bugs and issues which need to be addressed, rinse and repeat. This shit alone would take a few days, sometimes over a week depending on whether the testers are competent or free. There is also no such thing as a bug-free game. There is always going to some wrinkles that pop up that need fixing, no matter how good the devs are, and that shit will extend the deadline again.
And 50k $? Spilt that 4 ways and its less 12,500 $ per person + taxes. Nobody is going to want to work full-time for that little. 150k for 4 people would make more sense. Anything less and their annual salary would be a joke.

I was 12 when I started following this game, now I’m 21, and honestly it sickens me to think that I, as a minor, followed this creep and excused all the weird behavior he had. I was in his streams, I exchanged emails with him, I played the game and watched TH-camrs play it and followed his blog posts. As I got older I of course stopped most of that, but I still watched other TH-camrs play it from time to time, for the nostalgia. Still, it gives me a really sick feeling to think about.
I don't think anyone in history has blundered so much good will for so little in exchange as he did. Efialte levels of ingratitude and creepiness.

The concept of this game is freaking cool! But it was executed poorly and definitely will never be finished. It would’ve been cool if it did though. If YanDev was a normal ass person who let his volunteers give him a better goddamn script/code or whatever it’s called, then the game would run fine. And would’ve gotten this game completed a LONG TIME ago and would’ve been a HUGE success! And give the characters more age appropriate outfits n stuff.
