  • Epic Kayak Dry Dock Launch on Summersville Pond and the Scantic River - There's a new dry dock kayak launch on Summersville Pond which made launching and docking so much easier. Enjoy our unloading the kayaks, launching from the new dock, and a beautiful paddle from Summersville Pond up the Scantic River.

Beautiful day for a paddle! That dock looks perfect for folks like me! Looks like a nice pond! How cool you got to see the turtle up close.

@@sueb860 It was a nice day on the pond and river. That turtle was huge! Keep us in prayer, we are stuck in Seattle due to the computer glitch and canceled flights.

@@sueb860 We switched airlines Saturday and are currently scheduled for a Tuesday night direct flight to JFK. Thankfully we did not keep our flight with Delta for tonight (Monday) as it was canceled. That would have been 6 cancels in a row.

@@bestillonthetrail234Wow! That is crazy. Was just in NY yesterday with my Granddaughter. She wanted to go to the city. Definitely not my scene. The things we do for those we love. 😊 Will be praying for safe travels for you and Sue!

Well, that dry dock kayak launch was cool! Wow. That's impressive. We have Wilderness Systems kayaks and love them. We have the Aspire 10.5. We need to get out on the water really soon. Haven't had time all summer and it's already August! 😆 Looks like y'all had a nice, calm and peaceful day on the pond! Lovely! 💖

We love the Tsunami 140. It tracks really well and is fairly comfortable. Have spent whole days paddling in them. We also need to get back out again.

That was a HUGE turtle. I just got back from a weeklong camping/canoeing/fishing trip. I went with a friend. He uses a kayak and I have a 12' pointed canoe. For the most part, we were on lakes and there were powerboats speeding by creating waves. There was also a pretty good wind one day so it was not easy to paddle back the mile or so that I went with the wind. I use a kayak paddle to paddle the canoe. It's much easier. I sit in the front seat facing the back and that puts the center of gravity about right. John (OSAT) from MI

Thanks John! We have done a lot of canoeing and kayaking. Do you know the J stroke. Used to love canoeing by myself using that stroke and paddling on one side. Tough to do in the wind though.

@@bestillonthetrail234 No I don't know the J stroke but the kayak paddle works great. When I have 2 people, we use the normal canoe paddles.
