Been learning for 45 years! I'll come 53 in November. I watched my grandfather and uncles from the time I was a child. I learned a lot from all that. You're doing a fine job there, fine tuning people, me included. Thanks! Keep up the good work!
Me too, as a pretty advanced player I still like coming to these types of vid to see if there's anything I missed out, usually at the very least I hear a riff I'd like to steal
I went in search of this lesson because of Thunderstruck. ON the recording Angus Young is double picking the riff, but in live performances (the music video especially) he is playing it one handed using hammer ons and pull offs. At this point in my guitar journey, that riff is almost a holy grail for me, lol. The guy in this video also played a riff from another song I wanted to learn from Led Zepplin so now I know the techniques used there as well. This guy at the least gets a sub just from me for the great lesson. Thanks bud
So easy to follow steps! Before this video I had trouble with my pull off technique, and the sounds weren’t equal in strength. Now I know what to do. Thank you!
great lesson, tony! fingers 1 and 3 work pretty well, but the pinky doesn't want so much to obey, especially when i do it in a combination with finger 2... it would be nice if you do a lesson especially for this matter, if possible.
Tony, You're really a good teacher. Thanks for pulling that technique apart for me! I can feel the exercise is pushing me to grow. I also love the real use example. I'm so inspired by that. I think that's important. I'm a songwriter, but when I hear a song I really love, I realize I need to learn more of other people's music to grow and get out of my simplicity slump. Thank you!
Could be technique or it also could be the instrument you are playing. I struggled with the pull-offs in Over The Hills And Far Away until I picked up a $2500 Taylor in Guitar Center. What a difference! Pull-offs were effortless with that guitar.
🚩 FINALLY..A PERFECT EXPLANATION! Thanks. Problem I was having, Reading Sheet music,No Where does it say I'm playing a EXTRA NOTE( open note) Now..not to be Sloppy. So far sounding Exaggerated. Well Done Tony I've missed ya. Only seeing Podcast,no lessons?? Or just not getting notification.
Day two of learning . Thanks for the heads up on slides and pull offs . between yesterday's class and this info - I've got plenty to start with in my practices . Thank you .
Good topic, explanation and examples. Something else I find helps is if you fret on your finger tips. If you fret back on your finger pads, you can't roll off as smoothly during the pull off.. it's like the pad of your finger gets "stuck" .
Thanks a ton for this lesson. A buddy of mine is a rock guitarists through and through. I'm sort of in the middle with fingerstyle acoustic and blues rock. He recommended some pull-off exercises for me to help build up finger dexterity/strength and I realized just how weak I was with pull-offs. Not that his exercises were tough but I was lacking the basic fundamentals of them. Your video cleared that right up for me.
my pull offs are weak when I pull of to a fretted note and not an open string and my pinky is weak too. Thanks for a great lesson, it helped me find where I was lacking. Now practice, practice, practice
Great tutorial. After completing the four finger pull off exercise you could reverse it with hammer on's before moving to the next string. Might help to incorporate the two movements.
Paused a Marty Swartz acoustic lesson of Midnight Rider to look for something about hammer ons and pull offs because I knew something wasn't right. You hooked me with that little bit of Over the Hills and Far Away. I can't wait to dig into your channel!
Hey Tony, TAC member here. You guys his acoustic training is awesome. If you thought this lesson was cool wait till you see what is inside the TAC course, and the course prices are so reasonable, I mean really reasonable. Plus Tony is an awesome teacher. Tony I just wanted to say I really dug this lesson. I had been working on hammer on's and slides but now I got another tool in this ole tool box to use. Thanks for the great lesson.
THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!! You have no idea how much this helped me!! I'm a beginner and I'm tryna learn some basic chords and techniques. My brother is good at guitar since he learned a few years ago, but he doesn't know how to pull off properly! So you taught me and him. Gained a new subscriber, God bless you and thanks!!
Thank you very much. Honestly. I'm learning and this explains a lot. While watching I'm asking some questions and right after you explain it. Every time I have a doubt I end up watching one of your videos. Very helpful.
anyone else here cuz it was a recommended video, said why not cuz it's Tony, made it thru the first couple minutes and ended up shedding "Oh Well" for a few hours? back to watching Tony as he always has a cool exercise that I need....
Love your tutorials Tony, i've had not only quick wins, but but have taken a whole new interest after a 40 year separation from the guitar. Learning fingerpicking now and having fun. Thanks guy!
thank u so much!!! i had the first problem where the notes after the first one would be really quiet if not inaudible & now i know what i’m doing wrong. thank u again
Thank you guitar jesus
There's a gun jesus and a guitar jesus?!
Muuuuseeee
Thats my favorite album 🙌
Blessed be the lute.
@Delmer Singleterry @Bernando Dobekshsjj fucking bots shut the fuck up.

Helpful for sure. As an older man, the lessons also stimulate my brain circuitry 🐸 and like anything, practice, practice, practice.
exercise at 6:30
Like my fingers don't bend that way😭😭😭
Great suggestion leaving the fingers in place and pulling off in sequence. Increases strength as well as helps the technique.
Hey sliding your finger off the string for the pulloff really adds that extra vibration you need!
Its perfect! Thank you!
Dude. Thank you. Beginner here, was struggling mightily to get those pull offs to sound even a little right.
Thanks for this!
Also shout out to this man because this really helped me 🤙😁
loved the Over the hills and far away in the begining
Seriously, the way you explained about the guitar running out of sound, it's like you were in my head! THANK YOU!!
the tip on pulling off as quick as you can alone literally made it sound so much better immediately. thank youuu.
So easy to follow steps! Before this video I had trouble with my pull off technique, and the sounds weren’t equal in strength. Now I know what to do. Thank you!
Very Informative. and well explained. Much Thanks. Now the hard part. Practice,Practice Practice.....

This was super helpful, I was tackling a song with them for the first time and was struggling, but now I understand how to do it a lot better
1:55 that what my hammer on and pull off sounds like actuallu HAHAHA

Dope, ive been having a ton of trouble with pulloffs and this helps a ton.
Thank you man, I was struggling a lot with pull-offs, and now I am much better! Thanks!
Great tips. Had no idea about relationship between energy absorption, speed, and volume.
Now I just need a "pull out" tutorial
Elijah Hurley it’s pull off

Tony everything I watch from you is outstanding. Thanks for explaining everything step by step.

Learning pull offs trying make them more sound thanks for the tips I’ll do it.
your examples and explanations are good - far better than reading typical encyclopaedia articles, on such topic -as they are confusing
Thank you.....I’m an old guy so everything.has to be as simple as possible....you’re a great teacher....thanks again
Really a good teacher. LIVE LONG
You are amazing. All the things that I have had trouble with just by watching you I learn how to fix that problem. Thank you so so so so much.

My guitar teacher taught this technique to me today. I really enjoyed how you explained it and look forward to performing the exercises.
Thanks. Have been struggling with pinky finger pull offs and this was very helpful!
Playing Here Comes the Sun. So helpful! Dig it. Thanks!!
Great tutorial. After completing the four finger pull off exercise you could reverse it with hammer on's before moving to the next string. Might help to incorporate the two movements.

Going from fretted to fretted was being a nightmare for me but this really helped out man! Thank you so much!
So helpful! Thank you Tony! The trick of dampening the bottom string is great.
Excellent lesson. Made immediate and intuitive sense and I will incorporate the exercise into my practice.
Excellent, I took lessons but needed a tune up. My instructor had me do the same exercises back in the day
I've struggled with pull offs as a beginner; this video really helped. Thank you
Really good video man, I learnt about 10 times as much technique and quality of play in half the time in this video over another video i watched.
Very nice explanation....step by step I was facing the same problems which are now cleared with the mechanics you teached...
Thank you so much for the tutorial :D I finally pulled one off successfully
Best advice (and I was trying to figure out pull offs on my baritone uke). Thank you sir!
Thanks. Love the 4 finger fretted serial pull-offs

Helped a lot, trying to learn thunderstruck and I had the exact same problem of running into other strings. This kinda made things better
Thank you! This was well explained and useful!
Probably the best video I’ve ran into on anything guitar related
Thanks for the tips Tony!
just what i was looking for ... can not thank you enough
Thanks great instruction. Ive been struggling .
Thank you alot man. This really helped me, i actually learned pull offs right of the bat from the first tip. Thanks again

Great tip man! Thanks so much. Could not do a pull of before this. Now it's so simple!!!! Thank you!!!
Great explanation. Thank you!
Great Lesson Tony! I realized during this vidio that I've already been doing this without really knowing. Just jamming along.
He has a cool teaching voice.
Thanks Tony! Being a lefty has always made learning a bit backwards for me but your explanations are perfectly clear and easy to follow!!
Thank you so much for this lesson, it has really helped me to understand pull offs.

Did you master it?
Thanks sir it clear my all doubt on pull off
the little tip of muting the string below with your picking hand was huge!

I wish someone would have shown me this years ago. Good stuff. Thanks.
Those 2 muting suggestions were golden. Thanks
Thanks it's nice to know what I'm doing wrong a great Lesson !
Solid lesson- Appreciate the exercise at the end
Great video, thanks it helps a lot to learn pull offs!
Never seen anyone explain guitar stuff so simple and easy.
Those tips are really helpful.
Thanks
Thank you😭😭😭 see I’m a beginner and before this video I literally had no idea what a pull of was so thank you for teaching me:)))
Thanks a lot! My fingers are a bit weake still, but I;m definitely applying these!
Never knew how to do a pull off just watched this video... I did it on my first try
I am gonna work on this today , thanks .
Thank you so much, now i know why the notes sound so weak. currently trying to learn breakdown by Tantric
10/10 explained and practiced!
Thanks! The tips really help.
rarely comment on TH-cam videos but Jesus this was crazy helpful and informative. Keep up great content brother🤘🏼
Like The Cars once said, this is just what I needed! Pull-offs make a heckuva lot more sense to me now. Thankee sai!
It's a good exercise. I'll give it a try.
It's a good exercise, I'll admit, but my fingertips really hurt now and are actually beginning to turn purple. I think I'll take a break.

If not, keep going until they bleed and then stop after another 45 minutes or so.

Ned Martin Umm... No it’s probably enough to practice until your fingers are sore. If you overdo it you won’t be able to practice for a while
Excellent explanation. Thanks you.
Thank you for this lesson. The areas on the tips of my fingers are sensitive because they have no callus. So this will take some time for me.
Thank you 👍. Excellent lesson
Use pull-offs a lot. This helps to clean them up and stop some lazy habits. Thanks Tony
I am glad to hear that this helps :-)
You beautiful genius. This was very helpful!
Great demo and explanation!
