    Imo, the most under appreciated guitarist in history. He chooses musical freedom over fame and fortune. His body of work is simply amazing. Flying V's forever

    When your 80 and you look back I hope you know how much you inspired probably every guitarist of our generation (I'm 59). Your heavy edged melodic leads, great writing, with what I feel is just the absolute perfect sound has always moved me and made me keep playing and you get better every day. You're my guitar hero and I'm glad finally everyone is recognizing what I, and all your fans, have always known. Thank you for playing and please keep going as you're the best.

    This guy has had such a charmed Life : the whole spectrum, being on top of the world, fame fortune etc.. and complete crash and burn , pawning guitars that guitar players would pay thousands for just because of it's sheer place in history (yes, he pawned the blck/white flying V when he was homeless for a short while in Az). Classic Rock owes a lot to Michael Schenker , hell.....Rock N Roll owes a lot to MS. His contribution can't be overstated.

      +MetallicBill I've been watching and reading interviews and articles about Michael the last few months - and one mentioned one guy in UFO - crew, not band, IIRC - who did speak some German. And that British is even more apparent in interviews during the earlier years - be interesting to see if he still says "A to Zed" after living in the US for a while.

His hands are gifts from God to us for him to play what we want to hear Beautiful, powerful, raw, melodic Rockin Roll. Thanks Michael for always giving us your best when you perform, with your band mates ,music that comes from your heart and soul and spirit. Michael really speeds along but covers his whole career here. What shocked me personally is that he said he was in Chicago w/Uli Roth and there are the guys w/the Dean guitar. Because of my disabilities and not getting help from House of Blues to get a seat, (They said they would) for a Frank Marino show in July 2000 I saw Uli and Michael in Milwaukee the day before in a little club named Shak Hall after a Spinal Tap reference and it was the last show I ever saw. So to here that dean was there for Michael the NEXT day is astounding to me. Talk about the end of an era...How stupid was Gibson not to name or develop a Fluing V guitar for Michael Schenker? Hendrix played it....others as well but when one sees the Flying V they think Michael Schenker. So glad he is happy. He has given joy to so many with his dedication...and yes, he is like a monk...plugged into and unaffected by the sounds around him. It is a gift. God bless .

  • @antrygis1
    @antrygis1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    How utterly foolish of Gibson guitars to NOT have offered Michael Schenker a signature Flying V guitar. He was and is synonymous with the Flying V. But Dean guitars stepped in and for the last 15 years it is Michael Schenker and Dean's Flying V guitar. I had a cane back then and Uli got me a seat at the Milwaukee show....Michael closed. I could've been at the HOB show in Chicago where I lived but the *%**&^%staff would not allow a cripple to sit before. No regrets. Uli and Michael. Both at 49 y/o and they both kicked ass. best show of my life and that is saying a lot. Keep rocking as God's will be done. Amen.

    Goddamn. Michael is modest - but I remember the years in between his "sightings" and he experienced some dark and trying times. It takes many people years upon years of therapy to heal from the kind of indulgences and the mental and emotional debris that those things leave in their wake. And here he is, one of the most positive, genuine, sincere, kind, and seemingly happy people/musicians around. Great guy.

      Kevin Kiso I've been only seeing him live for about 15 years - the first few, he would just play - never turned in a bad performance, always was "the Michael Schenker", but it didn't seem that he was enjoying himself. In the last 5 years, I think, whatever happened that got him sober also brough about a joy in playing on stage. I noticed it 3 or 4 years ago - that suddenly he was actually engaged with the audience on stage (before that, he would come out, sign autographs, talk to people - but after the show). He's really enjoying what he's doing, and who he's doing it with - but whenever he does one of his solos - that is what he is doing - he notches the guitar and magic comes out.

      Diana Gregory Yesss... You must be talking about the years when he'd wear hockey shorts and a hockey jersey onstage... Or when he died his hair black around '95, with UFO... He's also gone through a couple of really messy divorces, and thefts [one of the wives was his "manager" and apparently ripped off some treasured & priceless guitars & equipment]. I see exactly what you see; a man who's rekindled his love of his instrument and his music. A man who smiles and laughs. I remember finding UFO's "Force It" vinyl LP in my sister's collection of records in '76 or '77, I was 9-10, and I was just captivated and totally enthralled by this guys guitar playing and sound. Peace.

    Michael Schenker is such a genius that if he had joined someone like Ozzy that the brief and framework of darker abstract themes would have pushed Michael to test his abilities. I think it's a bit of a shame that he wouldn't be willing to play Randy's stuff as my understand was that Randy was a huge fan of his. Michael never went down the heavier route and that could have been an insane moment to have him flex as avante guarde as possible. Collaborations are created through some sort of friction of style. But Michael is literally at the height of his abilities now. I hope he considers Ozzy or some of the others for new horrizons as he's so underrated and insanely ahead of his time. Schenker said his music was a gift from the 70's to the 80's. Well why not outdo those that came before you and create the greatest opus ever?

    Michael Schenker is a great guitarist. In this video he looks like a homeless person or whatever. When he was with the Scorpions at first there was no fanfare. The Crow album reminded me of a bunch of yuppies on a Ski Resort high up in the Alps with a bunch of guys dressed in Turtle Neck sweaters circa 1968. When he joined UFO, his style improved immensely. UFO's albums "Light Out," "No Heavy Petting," "Obsession" And the ever famous live album, "Strangers In The Night" were outstanding.
