Two of the greats and I am proud to say they never in my experience working arenas did they ever treat even the lowest stage hand with anything but respect. Thanks for a wonderful time in life!!!
I hit it all very very hard from 1982 until 2016. Now I occasionally brew up a few days worth of clean white lightnin, practice my acoustic and singing until I snap a string, and watch concert videos.
I get that this video is meant to represent Rob and I love him but I’ve just got to say that Sammy is and has always been one of the absolute greatest rock artists to ever take command of a stage. Thank you Sammy
Saw Priest in the 80’s for the first time in Philly and I still go see them. He’s an amazing singer and the Metal God! I read his book what a life and career. So glad he’s still doing it.
@@kencoleman5007 That’s good your a caring person. 😂 But he meant that he don’t have any problems with Rob being gay. But yeah, the way he wrote the first sentence made him sound like a prick, but when I read the rest of it, it made more sense. Alls that matters is JUDAS PRIEST KICKS ASS! 🤟🏼 ✌🏼
@sixstringhans-tone5574 Indeed. I've just seen so many comments from people who support Halford's being gay as long his in-song sexuality is plausibly straight. For Josh Kiszka (of Greta Van Fleet) and Lzzy Hale, their target demographics seem more receptive to songs that can be explicitly gay.
We're the same age. When I was growing up, at least in my little pocket of the world, calling someone gay was the hugest insult. Fight-starting words. When Rob came out as gay, it changed my whole perspective. I thought, "Well jeez, he's just as awesome as he ever was. Maybe even more so now for having the guts to announce that. I guess the gay thing doesn't matter so much after all."
@mp-kq3vc It was definitely a big step for musicians when he came out. Whitney Houston's bisexuality was a tightly guarded secret until a few years ago. The next step is freedom to be able to release songs where the musician isn't necessarily playing a role in hetero dynamic. Rebel Girl (by Bikini Kill) was very Sapphic, but like the ladies of tATu, Kathleen Hanna was playing it lez for the sake of being a provocateur. Joan Jett's covering the song adds more authenticity. Etheridge's "Come to My Window" and Fletcher's "Becky's so Hot" take that authenticity up a level because the LGBTQ songwriting isn't performance. I saw the S Club reunion tour, and (now out) Jon Lee got so much audience support when he was able to finally adapt the lyrics so that "Sunshine" was about a guy.
Way back in 1983, Judas Priest came to my little town of Beaumont Texas and played at the Beaumont Civic Center. A friend of mine‘s older sister won backstage passes from the local radio station. The next day at school, she told us that Rob Halford was gay. We told her she was crazy. And she was like, no really he’s gay. 😆
I saw Priest in 1990 for the painkiller tour in Albuquerque at Tingly and they where spot on, you could not tell he had any issues with drugs or alcohol. Rob is a beast!!!
Gotta love and respect Rob Halford, he's still kicking ass with JP ! Ok rock tune in the end, but you dont have the great and awesome Steve Stevens on stage just to play rhythm guitar ! He's a true legend and kicks Duffy's butt, solo wise, any day of the week !
JP's live concert(s) in seminole Florida from about 2009 are amongst their best and u can find them on utube. they played british steel from front to back and they sound phenomenal....
Halford is the best. I think it's clear that getting sober made a difference, that Dallas show from 86 is amazing, better than the screaming for vengeance tour for sure. It's also crazy that he still sounds amazing after all these years.
Love PRIEST!!! Love Sammy too!! Rob Halford is the Greatest MeTal Singer!! We are all Lucky to have heard him Scream for Vengeance!!! Keep Rocking Rob & Sammy!!! What song is Sammy playing here>>
Honestly, I don't think Halford caught LSD. He has always been a smart team player, both in JP and in solo projects. For real LSD, look at Ronnie Dio, Axl Rose etc.
Sammy doesn’t shut up, always gotta try to insert his own stories into the convo … robs trying to get out what he wants to say , and Sammy has to add his tidbits, instead of letting rob finish what he started… no wonder Al and Eddie got sick of him
Ummmmm, didn't hear the comment on his sobriety having a big impact. Unless it was 3 seconds long & I missed it in the interview. I'm going to go back & listen again. If I don't hear it clearly...CLICKBAIT!!!
Really wish Sammy would shut up and let him talk, I watched a video of him and Maynard James Keenan and he just kept talking over him. Just stop talking damn
He's just an excitable boy! I couldn't stand him either, but that didn't stop me from loving every note he sang with Montrose. "Red "weren't too shabby either!!!😂😁😎
Just saw him. He still sings better than most who are half his age! Unbelievable singer! Halford is the metal king!
God*
God
Sammy Hagar: "I'll do a line. But not while i'm singing......!!!" ...........CLASSIC!!!

72 and 76 and these guys are still touring! Credit to them and ALSO the MUSIC of the time!
⚡️🎸⚡️🎸⚡️🎸⚡️🎸🎤🎤
Yeah….. Sammy always impressed me as being pretty fit. Perhaps it is genes too.
Rob is 73
@@platypus2141 BUTTNUT when I posted it 2 months ago he was 72…. Turned 73 on august 25th… GET A LIFE!!!!
l too quit in 86. lf not l would be dead! Grateful and glad that l watched this interview :)

I saw the mighty Judas Priest on tour in 83 and 84...............phenomenal.

Never cared about him being gay. I love this guy, he's a precious jewel for our Metal community. I'm 50 now, still a Priest fan!! 🤘
Did you care about him being out about his true self and not closeted away?

I got clean and sober in 88. Still a Judas Priest fan. The Hell Bent for Leather still gets weekly play.
Saw both these legends live many times!!! I Love them!!!
awesome interview Halford rocks!!!!!
I’m coming on 3 years and totally identify with that euphoric feeling he is speaking on!!!!

Billy Duffy: As out of control on stage as ever. 🤣👌
He was AWESOME!!!
Wow loved that jam! Duffy & Stevens with Mikey are you kidding???

When he said Motörhead I was so happy!

BLOOD RED SKIIIIIIIIIES 🙌🏻🔮💯
The Metal God ..has a Chargers bolt..on his head!? Yesss!
He used to live here in San Diego, part-time. Don't know if he still does.
Love Rob Halford. He successfully made the leather daddy aesthetic appeal to heterosexual men lol
Yeah even tho he's far from being heterosexual
@@butterfinger4393 Exactly!
Love this guy
Rob has a amazing voice for metal he's amazing
Jani Lane never thought too much of Rob Halford, I can tell you that.😈
AXS! how about some new material??
Who is that on solo guitar at the end live performance?
“Sad Wings of Destiny” - enough said
I LOVE ROCK&ROLL LOUD!!!😁🤩😎

Matt Sorum is a friggin clock! RESPECT!
Now that he's not putting miles of snow up his nose.
The Metal God!
Did he diddle Jani or not?
We all know the roots.
There's so much new talent and music out there,
how about giving them a platform?
Who is playing guitar?
I useta drink liquid honey during sets. Really helped
I'm like 80 years old and I still drink a fifth of Jack Daniels every day keeps the doctor away.. what's an apple in the morning
Keeps your blood thin, that's the "secret".
In my top 5 metal singers..& my favorite Gay singer.. haha... He can still sing like he's 30... can't wait to go to Denver in October to see Priest...
Lets talk about JANI LANE...
British steel was pure 🔥
I have two words for Rob Halford: Jani Lane.
How old is this interview? Rob has had a full beard for years.
Maybe get got sober after taking Jani lanes cherry pie...
Little Bummed they didn't sing together
He has fond memories of slipping Jaine a mickey then proceeding pump and dump...lol
Ask Rob what he did to Jani Lane from Warrant. Despicable human
ODAAT
I was a fan until I heard horrible rape stories about him and his manager in the early 80’s
Honestly, I don't think Halford caught LSD. He has always been a smart team player, both in JP and in solo projects.

Everyone knew he was gay. He’s from the uk.😂
Would have been a much better interview if Hagar would have shut up once in a while.
Hagar interupts too much.
Not a fan
Has he found Jesus Christ yet? . I don’t think so. I’ll pray for him though.
Sammy shouldve KNOWN Rob was a screamer...Rob wrote screaming for vengence!...Duh..
No he's not gay don't tell me that.. call Brian Oliver's records😅
