  • Today on JD Cars we find out... does the sprint booster actually make your car faster? Or does it simply feel faster? I was rather impressed by the results. I also found the sprint booster made launches substantially easier and faster. I enjoy using the sprint booster on a daily basis and would recommend it. Thanks for watching. 0.5sec gain from a 0-60 run without adding power, gearing or tires is absolutely amazing. Tested this out on my 07 sport trac and it made it feel like it finally can live up to the "sport trac" name lol, needless to say I ordered mine and will get it within a week from now.

    This makes sense. It's like if someone takes 1 second to go from 0% to 100% throttle and another person taking 2 seconds and presses the throttle slower, taking 2 seconds to go from 0% to 100% throttle.

    You were supposed to turn the traction control completely off by holding the dtc button down for about 5 or 6 seconds and rev it at about 1500 to 2000 RPM. It should faster than 7.2 especially with a throttle booster. One question though are you above sea level , because that may be the confusion.

    • @JDCarsChannel
      @JDCarsChannel  6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Traction all the way off would've resulted in wheel spin (same with higher revs). The reason it is 7.2 is because this is a manual transmission.

    Footage in this video is really good quality, drone was a really cool idea. Nice video man.Have you ever considered a supercharger or turbocharger? I've been doing some research for my 2006 330i (N52) and it seems like not a lot of people end up boosting our cars. Also I'm running 0-60 in 6 sec flat with a little bit of wheel spin but it seems like the timings people are posting are all over the place. Lots of different factors guys.

    • @JDCarsChannel

      @@JDCarsChannel Got the Sprintbooster and it was everything you indicated it would be! The install on a Merc GLA was a bear - the plug on the accelerator is behind a plastic shield - I ended up using a bent screwdriver to apply pressure to pop it off, but it took over an hour with some scrapped knuckles! The result, however, is amazing! Changes the character of the car significantly and makes it a lot more fun to drive (it's a winter car, since I'm used to my summer sports car, it was pretty hard to make the transition the sprintbooster certainly helps!) turn off your DTC to get full power , with manual trans it works great

  • @oscarsalazar1956
    @oscarsalazar1956 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    You have to take off traction control completely off hold the dtc button until some circle comes out with a triangle in the middle ull have full power of the car then launch it at 2500 rpms u should be getting numbers under 7sec nd dont shift to 3rd, 2nd gear makes it to 60

    • @JDCarsChannel

      JD Cars i have a manual 07 328i stock nd i get better numbers than all u have to do is get a perfect launch little tire spin cause if u dont take traction off completely the car itself cuts power off u get less throttle response nd ur 0-60 times rnt ass good

    • @vroomgc
      @vroomgc 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So you missed the point its not about how fast this car can go 0-60 , its about what the device does which obviously with all things equal its faster when doing a straight acceleration test.

    • @Riv015
      @Riv015 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      JD Cars Unless you dump the clutch you’re not going to get wheel spin, I have an 08 328i 6spd and having the DTC/DSC completely off allows full TORQUE and almost instant throttle response to the wheels at low rpm. It’s a night and day difference. Try it out and maybe make a follow up video. Also try a rolling start at maybe 15mph if you’re doubting

    • @OakInch
      @OakInch 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What!? I gotta go try that now. I didn't know DTC had a double secret setting.
      EDIT: I 'm back. That helped a lot. I thought I was having boost lag issues after DIY FBO and tuning work. All my power was back end loaded. Not any more.

  • @m.7n6
    @m.7n6 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The afe power sprint booster is meant to help with throttle body lag, it helps give your electronic throttle body a faster response from the pedal. They are more worth it for the gasser ford super duty trucks and gm and dodge gasser heavy duty line of trucks because those are found to have throttle body lag, and will help with those more than a car.

      Yes it would definitely still make a difference. And it’s an Eonon screen installed in the car

    Shifts are very smooth, but a bit slow. You could probably knock a good full second off that 0-60 with quicker upshifts.

    (Please answer this) could you stack this on with a tune? Or would it be too dangerous for the engine?

    • @JDCarsChannel
      @JDCarsChannel  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could stack on a tune, but most tunes will have throttle remapping built in.

      JD Cars dang really? Would it still be beneficial to stack this product tho? Or not really?

    My best 0-60 was 6.53. 2011 328i bone stock. Not too sure why yours is over a half a second slower. I️ thought manuals were supposed to be faster?

      Andrew Greene computer vs human error. It's a losing battle with the manual

      Manual is more fun, but it will never be as fast as a computer.

    This is measuring from when the car moves. If you could measure from when you hit the gas, the results would be much more evident. I wish all auto reviewers would measure 0-60 from pedal press to 60mph. That's a better indicator of the experience of driving the car.

    I agree with others, you gotta learn how to launch. You keep saying you'll get wheel spin, well learn how to manage the throttle so you don't get wheel spin... Don't just floor it.

    I dont think the 0-60 on torque is as accurate as a stopwatch is it?

    • @JDCarsChannel
      @JDCarsChannel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's more accurate. A stopwatch will never be as accurate as an onboard timer.

      6** 5 seconds is 335i territory. A 328i isn't that fast even with the ess supercharger.

    • @N5XGarage
      @N5XGarage 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      0 to 60 on a 328i stock is 6 to 6.7 seconds. In the other hand on a 335i stock is 5.5 to 5.3 sec 0 to 60. Best times based on manual transmission.

    lol@"wheel spin". Your traction is destroying your launch. Manual Transmission is fast.
    My2011 Scion tC has a faster 0-60 than your BMW, and it was Manual Transmission too. But I made sure to turn off the traction control when I launched.
    With that said, great camera angles (Y)
