    2 things: firstly put some rubber surrounding in plastic where you put the wire (or glue it) or you will get moisture in your car. secondly you shouldn't put it to battery directly - use fuse for it.

      Shouldn't this be wired to 12v switched source instead of battery ?

    • @DordiHOTS
      @DordiHOTS 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No it's fine. The receiver circuit board drawls a minimal amount of current when the button on the remote is not being pushed. Something like the same amount of current that the LED to show you're in park that stays on when the car is off. So if you left your car for lets say weeks it would be a problem, but if you start it every couple days there will be absolutely no problem.

      What do you mean by “use a fuse for it” ??

    • @TTURBOVOLVO
      @TTURBOVOLVO 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      a fuse makes sure you dont burn down your car, if something fails. Google "fuse".

    I have a BMW 328i 2008 Automatic and I just paid a muffler shop $70 bucks to plasma cut my muffler pipe and TIG weld the exact same cutout in this video on. What they did was modify the pipe so that the cutout outlet has more ground clearance and faces away from any plastic lining on the bottom of the car. My car now feels like the sports car that it is. This is an awesome mod, so thank you so much for showing me how to do this. I spent $140 bucks and my car sounds so fucking amazing. Also the shop that I took it to said I would pass a smog test no problem. That's in California though, so i'm not sure about all other places.
    Some things I did differently:
    - cut the cutout pipe shorter so the flange just sticks off the side of the muffler pipe, this creates more ground clearance and angles the cutout exhaust away from any plastic that can melt
    - use epoxy and contact cement to seal the hole where the wire comes in to power the little 12v DC motor
    - glue the control box down to the plastic so that it doesn't shake around
    - wire a 12v fuse on the positive lead of the motor for short circuit and over-voltage protection.
    - further waterproofed the cutout motor by using left over oil o-rings, contact cement and super glue (i put one ring around the end of the motor seal and used contact cement/epoxy for a water-tight seal - and I put another larger ring on the base of the motor and super glued it into place)

      Did you also drill through the rear spare trunk area to run the wire to the battery terminal? Also, does a 12v fuse look like one of the glass ones or the 2 pronged style? Thanks in advance!

    • @DordiHOTS
      @DordiHOTS 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I drilled through the plastic in the rear trunk area and filled the hole with epoxy and contact cement. The fuse I used on the positive terminal to the cutoff motor was www.amazon.com/DIGITEN-5x20mm-Holder-Fast-blow-Assorted/dp/B01I2MNRWK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1521072122&sr=8-3&keywords=1+amp+car+fuse&dpID=512pYfR-kIL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch the 1 amp fuse from this kit.
      Preferably, you would like a 12v 1 amp fuse, one that would blow at anything over 1 amp which would probably fry the cutout motor. (This is assuming that the cutout motor drawls approx. .8 - .9 amps)
      Hope this helps and no problem :)

    This tutorial was helpful, but if you have an e46 325, the exhaust is dual all the way to the rear muffler. I installed a dual cutout before the second resonator if I remember correctly. Ground clearance wasnt an issue. Sounds pretty good too, I wish mine was a simple as this. I had to weld the cut out while the exhaust was on the car. pain in the ass, but doable. If anyones got any questions abiut lmk. And great job on the install, very well put. I stole your idea of drilling through the spare tire area. Wasnt comfortable running the little control brick off the battery as its a DC. Ive ran other little boxes like that with a DC and that would always crap out. so for now im sticking with the the cigerette lighter plugin. Ran the switch in the car, all wiring underthe carpet and under the rear seat. Wanted it to look at neat as possible. just like your install.

    After you cut the cigarette lighter plug off, and put the eyelets on the ends of the cable, did you add an inline fuse similar to the one inside the cigarette plug? If that motor shorts it’s going to melt those cables right to your battery.

  • @esgworks
    @esgworks 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Wow, this is insane ! Doesn't it hang to low and scrape? I'd be concerned about that. I just sold my BMW Performance exhaust and did a muffler delete w/ burnt tips a few days back 👌

    • @JDCarsChannel
      @JDCarsChannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ESG I was concerned about that...however it is pretty much inline with the rear wheels, therefor it moves up with the wheels whenever going over a speed bump or whatever. It's actually only 1/2" lower than the lowest point on the car...so it's not a huge concern. I love the sound of the muffler delete though!

    i'm not sure what i want to do, i was thinking whether a resonator delete + muffler but idk if that will be too loud. are you satisfied with the way it sounds open?

    • @JDCarsChannel
      @JDCarsChannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I'm pretty satisfied with how sporty it sounds open!

      What's the drone like during normal cruising? Surely there must be some... I love the way muffler deletes sound on the e90 but I'm sure there must be at least some drone at some RPM without that bigass muffler we have

    • @JDCarsChannel
      @JDCarsChannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Corbin Haynes The drone all depends on the RPM...so if you keep the revs low it's not too bad. However the whole point of this electric valve was that I could "turn off" the muffler delete when I don't want to hear the drone, or just when I want it to be quiet. That being said I don't experience droning unless highway cruising.

      If this were a turbo car it would add HP, but this is just for sound.

    I have a very similar device in my Subaru, but I would never put a direct connection to batt without a 10 AMP fuse, it could be dangerous.

    • @JDCarsChannel
      @JDCarsChannel  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have since added a fuse. Also...not that dangerous with this low gauge wire.

      Yes- a fuse is a good idea.

    • @rskrks
      @rskrks 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I chased down the USPS truck today to get the cutoff and installed it same way u did to the battery and added a 10amp inline fuse. Just mine is towards the middle where the resonator was. TALK ABOUT DRONE. but sounds real good, on ds every time I take my foot off the gas it pops and grugles. I drove 4 hours for no reason.

    hey mate, what were those ring terminals you used? what size were they?
    Is it definitely safe to hook the cutouts directly to the battery?

    • @JDCarsChannel
      @JDCarsChannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do not know the size of the ring terminals...maybe 1/4"? It should be completely safe to hook it up directly to the battery.
