I make my hummus in my Vitamix because it comes out super smooth which is the way I like it, the food processor leaves it to grainy for my taste.

Love this! We have about 250 varieties of ground chile pepper (I exaggerate. A little.) and a freezer full of ice cubes of paste from dried or roasted chiles. Also cilantro, parsley, bell peppers, etc. so when it’s time to make hummus it’s a seasoning freeforall. So fun. We spread on homemade toast and apples and vegs whatever sits still long enough. Sprinkle pumpkin seeds on top. Yikes am I hungry😏.

Same, Ann! A little cumin is ok. A lot is overpowering. "More lemon? ....more lemon." That was predictable. Love you both so much! I have every Esselstyn cookbook. Just ordered this one. You both warm my heart so so much!

Fabulous recipe!! However, I must need to sprout dry chick peas and then cook them, because I don’t seem to digest them well. I also have used northern white beans to make my hummus without any “side-effects” . You two are hilarious and really add a bright spot in my day!! Thanks

The liquid smoke is a game changer... for those who used to have a smoked meat product of some kind in your greens, green beans, pot of beans, split pea soup, etc... a splash / dash of liquid smoke brings all that lovely flavor back into mind. My only tip is add it slowly because like salt.... if you add too much you can't fix it easily. ☺ I try to find one that does not contain coloring etc - look for one that is just the condensed smoke flavoring. I like Lazy Kettle Brand All Natural Liquid Smoke (Hickory) that I find on Amazon if it is not in your local store. It lasts a long time if you are adding just a couple drops at a time.

??Did you catch the blooper? Ann secretly used the teaspoon to sneak a taste of the hummus while Jane wasn't looking. Then later, when Jane picked up the spoons because she needed a teaspoon of smoked paprika, she reached for the kitchen towel as well, because she noticed "there was some schmutz" on the teaspoon 🤣 Classic!! I'm going to chuckle each time I make this, LOL!!

I love your video's and your cookbooks! I have six of them! My wish is, that you could create an app, containing the names of all the recipes, with reference to the book and the page where we can find them. Why an app? An app can be augmented, should you write the next cookbook. That way, if I have e.g. beets, I can just check the app which recipes have beet in the title and choose from there. I think it could also sell more books, because if the app shows a fenomenal recipe title and lists it being in a book that they not have, people can reconsider buying that book as yet.

I made your Hummus almost everyday since getting the book, now I am taking a short break but I will pick it back up again, I totally got the hummus aqua ingredient. I've been adding hummus to baked potatoes, and as a side dish, or on toast with tomatoes. I just put it in glass jars, but it goes fast, and I am glad you mentioned how long it keeps (I think 4 days) And it is so good even better than store bought and no oil.
