Jane & Anne, this is the MOST delicious and nutritious oats recipe I have EVER come across. I made it today and I swear I was thanking you for this blessing with each spoonful. Thank you so very much 🤍
Certainly different than what i eat for breakfast. I'm 87 and a new Adventist. Havent really got into the food things. I would probably feel better. I will continue watching you. Thank you
I was skeptical about this concoction, but I"ve had it two mornings in a row, and I'm a convert! It's so filling and satisfying. Yesterday was the first day in a long time that I didn't spend the rest of the day planning my next snack. Thanks, Ann!
Ann, I tried your “scary” savory oatmeal today with what I have on hand. Used a packet of frozen creamed spinach, a container of baby bella mushrooms, 1/2 c oats, 1 TBS each of amla powder, nutritional yeast, and mixed seeds; onion, garlic powders, pepper, hot sauce; 2 c hot H2O. Amazing!!! Delicious!!! My mouth, taste buds, tummy, intestines, brain, whole being ALL say YES, MORE, please! Next, I’m going for kale, shiitake, ginger, tumeric! I love watching you and Jane, thanks for inspiring me to experiment with food for good health!
This recipe is awesome. Delicious and super healthy. Mother and daughter team are national treasures! So far I’ve made this twice. I’ve been thinking of adding goji berries or tart cherries to it from time to time. The possibilities are endless. Bravo Ann and Jane. What a gifted family!
Dr. Esselstyn and Mrs. Esselstyn are so generous with their knowledge and experience and I am grateful! How wonderful that they have this legacy for the children to continue
Love the tip about freezing sliced mushrooms to make it convenient to always have some on hand for breakfast! Also loved learning about amla powder. Thank you Ann and Jane!!
Nice I'm gonna go pick up a $5 synergy kombucha with ginger in it, those are the best for not adding to much sugar like others, just enough for the for mentation and it's cane
Oh my goodness and I do mean goodness! As I mixed up this recipe I thought there's no way I would like this. Well, I LOVED IT! It's like a full meal I could eat any time of the day. Thank you ladies! You've got a new fan in me :)
So glad you popped up today. For some reason I haven't seen any of your videos come up on TH-cam lately. Nice to see you ladies again, you are so much fun!
Jane and Ann, so glad to see a savory oats recipe. I love savory oats. As an Indian, I can’t get behind the sugary breakfast except for oats. Also I highly approve the use of turmeric and amla. They both are integral to our ancient medicine system of Ayurveda and our everyday cooking. Regarding amla powder, it is usually ground up dried amla fruit. Also people make hair masks to prevent or reverse hair greying.
Hey people … here’s a tip. If you get the Cheese Sauce Mix from Well Your World (obviously no cheese in it) it contains nutritional yeast, onion, garlic, mustard seed, turmeric, paprika, cumin, and black pepper. So you can just put a spoonful of that in. So easy!!🙌🏼
That looks so good. Savory oats (oat groats--where have they been all my life?) has been a game-changer for me. Love adding kale. I'll have to try adding mushrooms and artichoke hearts. I've been adding blueberries to otherwise all-savory salads lately (with balsamic)--amazing. How delightful it is to experiment with different foods in the mix. You are such a beautiful family, and just pure treasure. Thanks for all you do.
I’ve made Anne’s “original” warrior oats recipe daily now, for a year or two. This new version looks great too, and I’ll definitely try it, But to her older version I’ve been adding dried cranberries- because this breakfast is savory, and the added cranberries add fun, pleasant tart/sweet surprise in each bite.
You two are the best. My husband and I attended plants stock during Covid. We've been vegan for 12 years but I like your cameraman ate a lot of junk. After making this recipe today… I don't generally cook Jason does… He actually owns a vegan cooking business…I am going full tilt. Thank you for everything.
This recipe is almost identical to the Smokey Oats in your other book. I love the variations you've added. And now with the addition of artichoke hearts (yum!) and Amla powder-- brilliant! I can't wait to try this in my Instant Pot.
looks delicious and very happy to say I eat almost identical savory oats every morning. I do it a little differently to make it easier on myself. I batch cook the steel cut oatmeal in the instant pot for the week and just cook the veggies each day also in the instant pot which only takes a few minutes, in thst way i mix up the veggie mix depending what I have but often use mushrooms and greens and artichoke hearts, just makes it easier for me. Otherwise also add the flax and chia (and lately adding vegan protein powder for the fun of it jic it helps now that I’ve increased my muscle building regime.). Thanks for the great video and all the work you do.
I’ve tried that but I don’t like all the hard seeds in the berries. I’ve been planning to try cooking down the frozen berries and then using a sieve to remove the seeds before putting them in my oats.
@@amaliarc575 you have to love savory, which I do. I really look forward to my savory oatmeal every morning. Ann’s latest addition of artichoke doesn’t do it for me though 🙂
These are SO GOOD and very comforting!! Thank you, Ann, ❤for sharing your delicious recipe with us! I’m also going to try to do this every morning!! (Gotta stock up on mushrooms 🍄). I made exactly as you did except I added in the mushroom broth from the dried porcinis I soaked them in. Wow… I was a little skeptical as savory oats are something new to me but this is going in my permanent rotation as I want to be as strong, vibrant and healthy as you!!!❤❤🎉
I think I’d put a sprinkling of Ceylon cinnamon on top for me! Looks delish. I’m going to get my copy of your book out and make this tomorrow morning. 🇨🇦
I ordered AMLA because another channel recommended using it. Should get it on Saturday so I am going to have to try this.Just got your cookbook last week too. By the way I was diagnosed with a lung disease I had never heard of in January.never smoked...maybe autoimmune related.. I decided a month ago to go plant based and no salt to help my heart too.. I cook from scratch 95% of the time now. The heart and lungs effect each other..My LDL dropped 32 points...and the other 3 indicators were profoundly better! Ratio HDL, Triglycerides are all now in normal range..and that's in just in one month I do use soy milk but no cheese, eggs or meat. My yogurt is made with soy milk...My NP was pleased. THANKS LADIES.
I love this - and have just ordered some Amla powder! Thank you so much!! Apart from loving your recipes, the two of you always make me smile! I have been watching your programs for a few years now. By the way, I soak the flax seeds and chia seeds overnight before I use them because it allows you to absorb more of the nutrients. Much love from Sweden.
I've been having this nearly every day since y'all posted it and it is AMAZING! I make it spicy af and put it in a thermos for after my run and it, with decaf coffee is so energizing! Been adding Sambar powder to it and wow! Since adding the Amla I've stopped taking my low dose statin. I'll see what the effect is when I get my quarterly bloodwork. Thank you Thank you Thank you!
Ordered Amla and can’t wait to try this! As I was penciling in the additions to the recipe, I noticed the initials on the spoon on Page 58 of the book. Love it!!!! ❤
Lately, I've been eating oat bran. I will have to try them like this - I like that they're a bit more soupy...kind of like a curry breakfast soup. I can't wait to try it.
I make a batch of old fashioned oats in my instant pot, subbing ¼ the oats with lentils. I also make a batch of tofu scramble, and mix them together with a handful of greens in my non-stick skillet, adding freshly ground flax, chia, and hemp, and extra nutritional yeast. It's so good! I used to put egg and curry and cheese in my oatmeal, before I went vegan over 10 years ago. I'm glad Ann's oats reminded me of them.
This is very inspired. I'll have to try it! 😃 What I eat first in the morning is an apple with peanut butter and hot tea. I add my own custom blend of spices to the peanut butter that include the ones you use. (So I'm inspired to share.) Spice mix: turmeric, black pepper, ginger, garlic, onion, amla, and cayenne - equal quantity of each, except for the cayenne, just half quantity. This blend keeps well in a spice jar. Apple: Gala, Envy, Pink Lady, or Honey Crisp, Gala being a favorite. Tea: English Breakfast, or East Frisian BOP from Upton Tea Imports. It's kept the doctor away. 😃
we've been making this for years. we do it with curry, collard greens, topped with cooked black beluga lentils and some good balsamic. we throw walnuts and flax on it. also try naked oats if you can find them.
As always- LOVE this cute, funny video of you two together!!❤. I got your cookbook and can’t wait to make this! 😋 Jane, please will you share where you got your adorable pink 👚 shirt ?!! I’d love to get one just like it!! ❤
Does the AMLA have a strong flavor? Also, Ms. Ann I just love watching how excited you are to share your knowledge with us. This recipe looks really good to me. I love oats and am always looking for ways to eat them
Amla is a slightly bitter, earthy flavor with a bit of astringent feeling. A small amount would not really register and you should not find it overwhelming. Start off small and then add more as you see fit.
Great recipe, one caveat is that Flax and Chia should be ground just before use as they start oxidizing immediately after grinding so grinding them and storing them is not recommended.
I have your wonderful book and look at it every or in! I get inspired! Love this recipe and thanks for the Alma recommendation but what brand on Amazon would you recommend as there is so many? I wish the book had a suggested menus plan for one week…I have a hard time picking recipes for the week…anyhow thanks again, love you both! Your mom is a firecracker and I can only be truly blessed to live as healthy and long as Anne! ❤
Jane said "it's like eating a compost pile" haha, that the best thing I have heard in a while regarding food. Lol, I'm going to have to use that saying.
As a pre-diabetic, I think you understand the limitations we deal with. No grains, rice, potatoes, and oats, as a few examples. I'm working hard to eat more veg.

I just ate this! I do the original recipe from your first video just the kale and mushrooms. It's my favorite breakfast!! You should see ppls faces when I tell them I put Sriracha in my oatmeal😅
Can this be made in a batch and refrigerated for use throughout the week? How long do you think a batch would last refrigerated? I'm a man and have this cookbook and have given my daughter and lady friends this cookbook.
Thank you for sharing this interesting recipe. Unable to find artichoke hearts except for fresh. Need to find a way to use the leaves and get to the heart of each artichoke. Or I can use some Brussels sprouts that I have cut in half and zip locked and put in the freezer. Curry is another spice that can be used, just be careful with whatever you pair it with. It can get hotter than chili. I tear up my kale and ziplock it and put in the freezer. One ziplock will be plenty for this. Since I already spent most of my Social Security for this month, just enough left to keep me in bananas, I will make sure to budget for the new cookbook next month. I need new recipes! Since moving to Oklahoma, I have found that many plant-based items are not available. I'm thinking of making some orders online from Sprouts and Thrive next month, instead of going out shopping. My son isn't plant-based, but he likes a lot of my food. This makes it hard for me to batch cook anything. I miss being able to have donuts. I just don't like the icky sweet flavor. I better stop babbling on. Have a Buch of stuff to take care of this morning. Again thank you!
Love your video! I made this from your video and I’m ordering your book. Do you eat all of this each day? I could not eat all of that and saved half for the next day.
I can’t wait to try Ann’s Warrior Oats! I love using all the spices such as coriander. turmeric, etc. It seems like yellow curry powder would work well in the mix. Has anyone tried it?
I was told to eat protein with oats to help with diabetes glucose spikes. Any thoughts on that information? Love watching these two women cook together.
I meal prep my oats for the week as I usually eat with fresh fruit. I would like to try the savory. Do you think it would be okay to prep this in advance? I maybe would have to thin it if it tends to congeal. Thanks
Hi ladies! I am wondering if there is a reason that the chia is not cooked in the oats. (I have been cooking them) Is it better not to heat them? Maybe it would be good to grind them? Thanks!
Ann, you are a national treasure! ❤
I love your recipes and videos 😊
Have you considered doing a "What i eat in a day" video? Maybe vlog style? I'd love to see that from both of you 💛
