  • Let's dig into Max-Leveling/Under-Leveling, 5-5-5/5-5-1, 3 Max Method.
    Here I combine the core methods that will make your build as efficient (i.e. POWERFUL) as possible.
    My character personally uses Under Leveling to 25, Efficient Leveling, 5-5-5, and 3 (Major Skills) Max(xed out). All but 2 attributes are 100- leaving Personality at 60 and Luck at base 50.

    Efficient levelling is what I’ve been doing. Right now, I’m currently slogging through the middle levels of heavy armour and the nightmare that is 70 Armorer, but I’ve got a good build and I’m pretty confident it will work out for me.
    If I had any advice for anyone, it’s that Restoration is STUPID good, for nearly any build. It is at bare minimum a useful skill for any class, and if you build correctly it can turn you into a beast very quickly.

    • @NerdyGamerGal
      @NerdyGamerGal  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Wow, 70 Armorer sounds intense! It's funny how you can spam some skills while others require so much time investment.
      And I'd have to agree- Restoration is amazing! My favorite spell is Heal Other because I always get attached to my horse.

      NerdyGamerGal 70 is training every level by five levels. It’s major in my build, because I’m rushing Endurance. The only sticky part is getting to 71. After you accomplish that, you can talk to your trainers about finding the argonian, who can take you to 76. Once you do that, you use conjuration to summon a weapon (or armour piece) and then restore it to 125 percent.

    • @brandelgastfergandill1757
      @brandelgastfergandill1757 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Armor and block skills are easy to level, just get the staff of everscamp. Also good for weapon skills, hand-to-hand, destruction, restoration, basically any targeted magic, as well as armorer. Punch the scamps or cast fury on them and just stand there and let em hit you

    • @zebatov
      @zebatov 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You should have done heavy armour for your endurance major.
      I picked blade, heavy armour, conjuration, illusion, restoration, acrobatics and marksman, because you can control all of them, and they’re relatively quick, except marksman. I maybe should have picked sneak for the agility major because you can rubber-band your controller to level it.

      +5 to all attributes is a bit broken in its own way - for example it makes no sense if you're levelling up from using combat skills and get +5 to willpower or intelligence as a reward.
      There's a significantly more balanced mod out there that simply carries over unspent points to the next level up. With that mod you only get bonuses in attributes you're actually using and levelling, so it's much more sane and far more in the spirit of the game, but you don't ever feel like you've had any progress stripped away just because you levelled up. It's also very easy to achieve a 5-5-5 with just a little thought, with none of the risk of overdoing or underdoing it by not keeping exact count of what skill increases you've had.
      Also I'd recommend using a retroactive health from endurance mod, because health scaling is completely broken... but that's a whole other thing lol

(That also assumes you are taking race and sign into consideration) I like that you called out David's video as well as he breaks it down well too. THe only thing I typically decide on when I make a new character is whether I am going to get my 5-5-5 first then use my major skills as the ones I want to use or the opposite play the game normally then when I have 5-5-5 use other skills to get 10 for the level.

    I've found the best place to train combat for leveling is in Rosentia's house in leyawiin. You can get the 4 scamps agro onto you and turn the difficulty down and train block, light, or heavy armour pretty afk. You can train attack skills on them too ofc. Most of my time spent efficient level is done in her house.
    Edit - 4 scamps. Not 3

    • @justinbailey2347
      @justinbailey2347 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love doing this and thinking about it from the perspective of it happening within in the narrative. Rosentia is like "I'm cursed with this staff that makes these smelly noisy monsters follow me around and now there's this person barging in here and punching them to death for hours"
      If the hero could tell others after enough people start showing up she realizes she can charge for time but instead the hero just switches to using fireballs.
      They could form a relationship like Squidward and Spongebob with Hero constantly returning with zeal and Rosentia having a double view of them as both another nuisance and her only source of friendship in her isolation.

  • @FiveSeVIIen
    @FiveSeVIIen 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a cool trick to get all attributes to 100 including luck, you just have to do the +5+5+5 method until you get endurance/strength/intelligence to 100, then you do the +5+5+1 method for your next 2 attributes and on the last 2, you just gotta do a bit of math and not level your 2 attributes by 5 each time, everyone says its impossible to get luck to 100 but they forget you can level attributes by 1/2/3/4/5 if you need to, and you do, it just takes liike 3 minutes of math, and also dont waste any major skill points after you get their respective attributes to 100, it helps to make your major skills all passive skills you dont use when adventuring. Thief sign helps, but its not really needed.

    I've tried every way and decided picking skills you won't use is best in the tutorial/sewers and staying level 1 is optimal until you reach 75 on your minors that you use.
    Eg if you want to be a mage, give your guy armour and weapons as major skills, then never equip weapons or armour and only use magic, but also use something like armourer for a major skill so when you want to rank up you can go and repair a bunch of armour you looted before selling it. Important to use some major skills that are tied to endurance so when you rank up you can put 5 points into endurance every level until maxed out. Always make your class creation the opposite of what you want to be
    For a mage, intelligence and endurance until maxed then willpower then speed.
    If you do this strategy make sure you don't have any mod on which auto levels you up even while awake otherwise you'll accidentally level up.

    • @NerdyGamerGal
      @NerdyGamerGal  ปีที่แล้ว

      Essentially staying a level 1 pure until 75 minors...... that makes so much sense. A couple lower minor skills made things a bit difficult as I sped through leveling

    (I know this is an old video, so no expectation for an answer)
    I feel like oblivions leveling system is really interesting, but unintentionally unintuitive. Like, needing to put your major skills into things you don't plan on doing. So the whole idea of character classes gets put on its head, where your major skills are your least used skills.
    Plus, needing to manage not gaining skill points when you dont want them.
    If the system was designed around efficient leveling and thus less counterproductive, it would have been a really cool way to level a character. As it stand, it just causes too much stress (for me) to fight the system so much.
    Still, if I decide to give efficient leveling a try, I'll go back to this video again ❤

    I usually play a mage type and 5-5-5 max Endurance, Intelligence and Willpower by level 10, by then, I can max all of my Intelligence skills (Alchemy, Conjuration and Mysticism) then I max my Willpower skills (Destruction, Alteration and Restoration) under Endurance I max my Armorer and I am good to go, first thing I do is go to Cheydinhal after that mage quest, go to Dark Fissure and create my black soul gem, bank it for later. Then after getting a few more grand soul gems, back to the Dark Fissure, create more dark soul gems, fill them near the Imperial City at Vilverin and the Well Spring cave about 10 filled per few days, use the Chironasium to fortify Luck to 100, Strength to 100 then I am free to work Speed and Agility 5-5 and 1 to Personality (as a dump stat).

    I noticed in Oblivion that doing these 5-5-1 techniques for leveling are what make playing the game on hard possible. If I accidentally increase the skill in one thing too many times it can totally screw up my build, and this vidya really helped explain how the leveling it works and why it's so important to not screw it up so thank you :)
    I looked at the sub count and wondered why do you not have more subscribers? I thought about this and I think it's because it specifically says 'NerdyGamerGal".
    Not that ppl don't want to subscribe because you're a gal, I think it's because it comes off as part of what your channel is about. Ppl don't really care whether someone is a guy or girl if they do things well/entertaining/are informative, which this video shows has all of these things; these are technical vidyas in a way, specifically the type of people who are clicking this vidya only care about how helpful/cool the information is. If someone is sexist they really won't care so long as the video is informative, but when they see the channel name it probably irks them as being related to identity politics or something like that. Not saying you should cater yourself for them, but you catch more flies with honey. You'd be surprised how ppl can change their minds when given the chance.
    I think people get turned off if you make your own personal attributes part of the channel/content. From this video, you don't mention anything related to identity. But it says it upfront in the channel name.
    Idk if this makes sense or not, but I hope you get what I mean. You're clearly not some identity hinged person from what I can tell from this really informative vidya, so why make it part of the channel's name?

    • @NerdyGamerGal
      @NerdyGamerGal  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm definitely to blame for not keeping up with a good schedule so I think that's a large part of it.... but that's actually a really interesting point. I made the channel page a bit before actually posting videos; the name definitely felt a little corny but something clear and to the point. I think I kept it generic so I'd have flexibility. (I was actually originally thinking of being "Geeky Gamer Gal" as G³ seemed a bit catchy and easy to remember, but if I'm being a stickler on definitions Nerdy seemed more accurate).
      Women definitely have the privilege of standing out solely because of their gender so it's a bit of a cheap shot and may come off wrong as you described. I want to think this through as rebranding/renaming across platforms can be difficult. I hadn't really considered any other titles 🤔

    With each video I watch about leveling an Oblivion character, it becomes increasingly obvious that: if you understand how this system works, you are absolutely unable explain it to someone who doesn't.
    It's like someone who is good at math thinking "oh, it's so easy you just bink boink and flim flam, isn't it great?!" While everyone else around you is confused. In order to explain how this works, you have to get why most people think it's broken from THEIR point of view, and be able to explain it how THEY would understand it, not how YOU understand it.

    • @NerdyGamerGal
      @NerdyGamerGal  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is SO TRUE!!! My current videos are aimed at people who already kinda understand the system but I really want to make an in depth beginner's guide... Needless to say I haven't been brave enough to tackle that one yet 😅 if I do it at all I want it to be good!
      It took watching videos and reading certain articles too many times to count to finally get it to click and it's a lot for me to remember all at once

      2 years late but ... I think most people think it's broken from THEIR point of view because they think Major skills are the ones you use. They think it's better to buff up at the start of the game and this game really lets you experiment with builds. When they level they can put 2 or 3 points in any attribute but they can't get +5s and eventually, enemies outpace them. If you change the name to Leveling skills, efficient leveling can make sense. Pick 7 skills that you don't need. Make sure 2 skills are Endurance skills and use those to level. Play the game with your minor skills.

    Oblivions leveling system is almost the same as in Morrowind, slightly simplified. but I didn´t heard any complaints about that in Morrowind. There must be something else. I guess the enemy levelscaling in Oblivion was harder and unforgiving. If you face a troll instead a wolf that´s a sudden spike in difficulty.

    I love these videos, but this is why although Skyrim get's a lot of annoyance from fans because it ditched a traditional level system in favor of a more streamlined one - it is the superior system.
    I am A HUGE fan of these games and Morrowind is my favorite in terms of scope and story, Skyrim is the better experience overall. Traditionally, You are in a constant "meta" game with the mechanics to get the best character available to you. Tagging skills and working out how to best overcome the mechanics. This leads less to you "Roleplaying" a character and just playing a spreadsheet. The game is asking you to roleplay a character and come at it as a sandbox, but in reality unless you use some form of magic, or cheese it's systems you have to make compromises and you end up having to plan your skills and attributes rather than just play the game. Not to say the systems are completely useless, far from it. Without them completely you are just playing a block of wood. But RPG Stat mechanics are a replacement for real world mechanics to simulate skills before computers had the power to just perform them. Now they have become MAth problems to solve so you can MIN MAX and cheat the system rather than ROLEPLAY as a character. Like Diablo, or MMOs

    • @joegrimes9232
      @joegrimes9232 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      An Example: Acrobatics. Now that skill is immensely useful in a traditional Turn-Based mechanic as seen in JRPGs as it directly affects your Evade chances. So the opponent needs to roll a higher number to actually hit you before calculating damage numbers. So you can say play a circus performer that uses ranged abilities to hit the back row and stay alive. But in a 3d Action Rpg, you can literally just move out of range with the tap of a button or push of a thumbstick so... its essentially useless. Sure it might unlock a backflip or something, but its entirely situational and has little function. You can add it in to please the Stat Crunching lovers, but in a modern game, you don't need to simulate the acrobatics with data, you just push "Roll" and your character rolls.
      Kingdom Come Deliverance is the most obvious case of trying to balance traditional Skills Mechanics and the Player's controls. The Combat requires a lot of input and realtime situational awareness to be able to actually fight, but... There's a skill system working alongside that leads to the opponent teleporting to block blows or just straight up make mincemeat of you. It disengages you from the game. Sorry, but it does. Some like the challenge, but in reality? Most players will switch off.
      If it was turn based, people will grind and do all kinds of stuff within the stat mechanic to see what works, but a 3d Action game, people swing a sword and expect it to deal damage and move forward. Sure there may be tricky bosses and
      monsters, but there are other ways to beat them. Such as Witcher 3.

    I kind of wish I never started looking into exactly how leveling and level scaling works. Now that I do it's hard to not always just tear through content until I have spellmaking and just break the game over my knee. I guess a good compromise would be to use restraint and gradually step up the BS you use in response to the game's escalation. That way you can play the game like a normal person and not have to conform to the ass backward logic the game systems push you toward.

    I think this whole efficient leveling thing is a bunch of nonsense. I just focused on the major skills and attributes I used the most and just played the game. I explored caves, mines, forts, etc, did side quests in between, and never touched the main story until my character's attributes and skill were maxed. I ended up doing fine by the end game. I have done this with a mage, rogue archer, and two handed warrior. I did the efficient leveling method before, and all it did for me was make me erase the game due to frustration of constantly min and maxing my character perfectly. I'm not trashing your video. Please don't take my comment as me targeting your video. I thought it was excellent! I just think the whole efficient leveling thing, when it comes to Oblivion, is a bit over exaggerated.

      +5 is the max bonus you can receive in your attributes so you leveled perfectly!
      Here is the bonus point layout (uesp wiki):
      0 skill points grants a +1 bonus
      1-4 skill points grants a +2 bonus
      5-7 skill points grants a +3 bonus
      8-9 skill points grants a +4 bonus

    You know after playing oblivion for 7+ years now. I think it's kinda stupid to come up with the effective leveling tactics. Not against anyone who recommended it, but isn't the whole point of level scaling is to make enemies infinitely more challenging as you level? The reason I ask this is because I know it's possible to play through normal means without number crunching for what attributes to level up next, especially earnin' XP into skills you don't often/never use as major... even with the difficulty slider is set to it's default. Maybe not with premade classes, but definitely with custom classes. The game does give you time to prepare gear from level 1. I can't really show any example with explanation alone, but feel free to take my word from it😊. I'm fine with the idea of effective leveling, however I find it gets real boring after a while. Especially when you got yourself overpowered to a point where most foes fall with a few blows. I could just turn up the difficulty slider, but I haven't really played with it enough to find that cheese. Just my opinion though, I am open to hear your thoughts, whoever answers.

    • @NerdyGamerGal
      @NerdyGamerGal  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I totally feel that and I think that's the problem with Oblivion. My character is about as "perfect" as you can get and it's really not overpowered. If anything I feel like I'm barely keeping in step with tougher enemies.
      -Someone pointed out that this may be because of my neglect of magic based combat. Also I have not really gotten into enchanting and potion use. Maybe those three things would make me stupid op and risk making the game boring.-
      Imho there's more risk of becoming underpowered than overpowered, but I agree- leveling like this is a bit ridiculous! I want to make a guide on more casual EL or as you called it "effective leveling" for people who simply want to make a both viable and realistic character. I have admitted that this form of leveling is kind of obsessive compulsive on my part and more about perfecting the puzzle instead of making a reasonable character. My goal was to give all of the methods I used and then people could pick what they liked and not necessarily use all of them.
      Ultimately, for that best Oblivion experience I think you should mostly play normally and enjoy the story..... or try out a leveling mod. Sadly, I've never gotten to do this since I only have the game on Xbox. *sigh* one day... 😊

      •Level up 2 attributes with minor skills (10 per att)
      •Level up another attribute with a major skill (10 times)
      Then rest and level up to receive the max of +5 bonus pts to 3 different attributes. You can totally mix and match the minor/major/attribute situation but it can get confusing fast and it's easy to mess up.
