The National, Aaron Dessner has been involved with Taylor's folklore and evermore projects during the pandemic, along with Jack Antonoff from The Bleachers, they both also worked with Taylor on her last album Midnights, her 10th studio album. Taylor has featured on a song called "Renegade" with The Big Red Machine, which is Aaron Dessner and Justin Vernon from Bon Iver. I saw that someone else requested Renegade, so I second the motion, please. Taylor does not have one specific sound, she is a genre-bender. Her Reputation album rocks. Great reaction, thank you.
😂 I know this song very well. There's a local indie/folk radio station in Maine that spins it a lot. I'm a sucker for a sad song, and Taylor's harmonies were beautiful. 🔥 Good to see ya Natalia! Great reaction everyone. 🤘
The way it happened is that she is a fan of the band and has been for a decade and she writes all her songs so is very interested in learning how others write songs. So she asked Aaron after a show maybe a long long time ago how they (the National) write songs. She remembered. So when pandemic hit, all her concert shows were cancelled and so she texted Aaron and asked if he was in a headspace where he’d want to write songs, him in NY and her in LA, remotely. So, he sent her some instrumental ideas he had in a folder for the National and she wrote the lyrics and melodies to all these songs. Jack Antonoff collaborated with her on some other tracks, all remotely. Due to pandemic, none of them had been in the same room together and she had never even met Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) until after they had already put out 2 albums. But she says she has found her musical soulmate. Aaron has joined her on her Eras tour several times. They have continued to work together writing music for her albums, the National’s albums, Big Red Machine, and her re-recorded albums (Aaron has produced some of the VAult tracks). They seem to have gotten to be great friends and they love working with her.
Aaron (the National) and Taylor wrote her 2 indie albums Foklore and Evermore together, and he is involved in many songs of her Midnights album as well. (Bryce and more from the National also made many of the instrumentals on those albums) and they are very close friends or as Aaron says "musical soulmates" and If you had more experience in listening to Taylor you would know she moves between different genres seamlessly therefore her albums are very different, but her music is very lyrics focused, regardless of what genre of music she has on her albums. Her Folklore album (AOTY at the grammys 2022) has a concertfilm on Disney + where Taylor, Aaron and Jack Antonoff (Bleachers) sit down and play the whole album in Aarons cottage studio and talk about the songs, higly recommend.
National is indi/alt music and Taylor is country/pop/folk music. I really like this song. Aaron Dessner and Taylor have been collaborating for 3 studio albums now, as well as her 3 re-recorded albums (produced some of her Vault tracks). This is a National song featuring Taylor. Taylor has a song called Coney Island that features the National. Aaron Dessner has another project called Big Red Machine with Bon Iver, and she is featured on 2 tracks including Renegade. Taylor also has 2 songs featuring Bon Iver called Exile and Evermore, 2 superior songs. I highly recommend both of these. They are arguably the best songs listed here.
I like the National song ok, I like it. The better songs in the National/Taylor/Bon Iver universe is Exile or Evermore. Before you give up, at least listen to those 2. They are Taylor songs featuring Bon Iver.
