i just recently discovered this song and its so good i have it on repeat. when taylor comes in with "tell me which side on you on, dear?" i instantly disassociate its so heavenly. taylor doesn't feature a lot but this definitely has to be one of, if not one my favorites she brings so much to this track and matt did so well on his own

i personally like the possiblity of "read my sentence out loud" referring to punishment. because earlier in the song matt says, "how many times will i do this, and you still believe" and while taylor is singing background in the call and response she says, "did my love aid and abet you?" aid and abet means to assist someone in a crime. so like, taylor's love aid and abetted him into constantly meeting at the alcott. because even though she's starting to move on onto someone new, he gives her hope/the belief that they can get back together idk if that makes any sense i struggled to write this
