This is an update video about a product i recommended in a previous video. I realized it wasn’t great quality and had several messages that others had bad luck with it too. Amazon is sending me a free replacement but it sounds like it’s usually no good. I will show a few alternatives. Stay tuned for amazon part 2 where I’ll show these better washi tapes in action!

I work at Amazon. Basically it is just a collection of independent vendors and Amazon has its own lines as well. Most if that stuff, like washi, comes from Chinese vendors and none of that is quality checked by Amazon. It is just a marketplace basically. It is the same you would get of Ali or Wish, just comes faster since it is already in the states. However Amazon has killer customer service. The customer is the universe to them. They are really really good at helping with issues if they can. Also perforated Washi, I have found in personal experience, tends to be difficult.

I have the same postage stamp washi. I’ve had it in my cart forever and finally gave in.
It was hard to get it started, but once I did, I put a piece of the wasted backing from double-sided tape under the end so I wouldn’t have to pick at it the next time. It also keeps it from losing it’s stick from too much handling. I pull very slowly and pay special attention to the edges because those are where the problems start. If the scallops get to looking too messy, I just trim them off with scissors. The images are the best part anyway. Lastly, I cut down the middle of the perf to separate the ‘stamps’ instead of tearing. This way it’s easier to catch the end to put the release paper under it before it gets stuck back down on the roll.
Another thing I do is store it in a way that protects the edges. It’s more hassle than most washi, but it’s so pretty that I don’t mind. If all washi was like this, I wouldn’t use it.
I never warm up my washi, but contrary, i let it in the fridge for a few hours. Because warmth and humility make the glue to become more fluid, which causes the tearing. In the summer months i keep my favourites washi in the fridge constantly, otherwise i can't use them anymore.

I have that washi from Amazon too. Same problem. Some of the rolls seem better after you get past the first few layers on the roll. I love the imagines but would not re-purchase. Thanks for this helpful video.

I have that same tape (don't remember if I got it from Amazon, but it's the exact same images) and have the same problem with it tearing on the edges. Pain in the butt.

Oh my, just saw this video , on the other hand, my order for this stamp washi tape is still on shipping~ and i buy like 5 of them cos i want to use em like a stickers~ too bad it’s so hard to be used~ well just have to accept it, thank God it’s pretty cheap (like a dollar something) so i dont feel too bad about it
I got mines from AliExpress, same problem but they are great and were cheaper.

I have some like those perforated washis and they are from a subscription and mine still tears like this too . It's sooo cute but yes, it easily tears 😭 I also have to add glue to have it stick better .
I always had sticking problems with wasim tape but I found some at Dollar tree that sticks great that was a shock

But I ordered the same postage washi tape and it worked fine tho? Honestly my favorite purchase so far. for anyone who wanted to buy this. I'd say just buy it. cuz it's literally sooo pretty. and I personally have 0 problem with it.
and you said that it's hard to pull a lot altogether? I mean make sense? since it has like cutting part on it already?😭But honestly it's not that hard really...and of course it is different with the other washi you compare... this one has much more prints and art on it so it's cheaper compared to the basic grid types....

Oh good im glad it worked for you! For mine, it was splitting down the middle and not allowing me to have a full stamp if that makes sense. Maybe mine was defective
I have those, I got mine from a company in Shanghai.Mine doesn't tear like that. I do have issues with the edges not sticking down. I just run a fine line of glitter glue. Problem solved

Just my 3¢.... BUT... wanted to mention a few things ... 1. As many products can be made multiple places by one company or by different companies that qualify or issues could be all over the place .. So moving forward to save you from alot of headache. Just speaking about the quality of the products you have currently and that could be different for anyone currently or anytime in the future. Rather then saying I have this kind and I know it's good quality, thus very possibly makeing someone think that if they buy it they are going to get good quality product with no issue . I hope that makes sense .. And please know it's not me trying to be mean or nasty .. But just thoughts of how you might talk about things in ways that you don't have alot of people saying they had issues with something that you said is good quality etc !!
2. In regards to Washi tape or generally any kind of tape they can have issues with the adhesive as they get older some just more then others or sooner then others. But I have always had pretty decent luck just useing a blow-dryer or heat tool to warm them up a bit so the layers seperate easily if I find they are sticking and causing the paper to rip.
3. In regards to any issue of the Washi tape not staying down. The purpose of it and the adhesive being very low tack and repositionable or temporary. So it's not meant to actually stay in place like a sticker or regular tape. But to help make it more permanent or just stay in place i started a long time ago to just always run a bit if glue stick on it before I put it down always no matter what . So I just keep from having any issues at all regardless or the Washi tape I'm useing. If I am putting it down to stay in the place I'm putting it then I do it all the time every time .

I got mine today. After I watched this, I was like “😩aw man!!” and ran in my studio and tried to see if this would happen.
First I warmed it up with my hands, I peeled it off REAL slow and since I wasn’t having any problems, I went ahead and peeled long rows off and stuck them on left over sticker paper. I only did 1 roll. But it looks like it will be ok.

Oh yay I’m soooooo glad! I’m certain I had very similar postage stamp washy less than a year ago and it worked totally fine. I even shared a bunch of it in penpal mail and had no problems.

I've have heard that washi goes bad after awhile.
Amazon never checks the quality of their merch as far as I can see.
I have that postage stamp washi and it is horrible. It doesn’t stick, the perforated edges rip, etc. The images are pretty but the tape is awful.
