    When Mike was laying on the garage floor it was obvious that he just wasn't getting the sleep he needs! That problem can be solved - get an old carpet and cut a piece about 4' X 6' to slide under the car. Sure is great to wake up and see that the oil pan really is completed drained!

    Sweet! I gotta do that on my second gen over on my channel. I’ve got the 273s with the one wheel peel. Thinking about 373 with the Eaton true trac. Someday......

    Remember 10 thousandths back lash as well as the pattern being correct and I honed out the old pinion bearing to use to set depth etc then pressed the new one on and tightened it up w the new crush sleeve

    I know old vid but for price should have gone 30. And also had 8.5” in my race car , but welded tubes to center for more strength.

    Love the charcoal grey color, beautiful. Did you guys discuss welding the axle tubes to the rearend?

      You do that once weight is on the car

    Any particular reason you guys didn't replace the rear axle bearings and seals? Just curious. Love'n it man! Get's so much closer to the finish line of the build!

    • @Lethalgarage
      @Lethalgarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t record it, but the bearings looked fairly new still outside of the seals being caked up.

    Holy shit look how small that ring gear is what ratio is that really steep that's a 373:1 mine was a bigger ring gear than that maybe I'm wrong idk

    I'm curious about the choice of an Auburn POSI carrier versus a Yukon or Eaton? And since you were buying a new carrier, new axles, bearings etc. why not go with 30 spline just because you could? Aren't the axles just about the same price whether its 28 or 30 spline? Great Videos BTW, and I'm gonna look for more info on Mike's '68.

    • @Lethalgarage
      @Lethalgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Came down to trusted / suggested brands my mechanic who helped me build it likes. I trust what he has done over the years. For what we’re doing, 28 spline should be just fine. If I was racing the car, we probably would have gotten even better parts. But budgets are budgets.

      @@Lethalgarage but going 30 spline wouldn’t cost any more.

    • @Lethalgarage
      @Lethalgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@matt6951 but it would, have to buy all 30 spline items which at the time was not available.

    • @matt6951
      @matt6951 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Lethalgarage you’re right, it would be more but < $100 more for piece of mind and future proofing your build is worth that for pretty much everyone I would think. If it wasn’t available, and you needed parts now, that’s a different story. But the cost difference is negligible.

    • @Lethalgarage
      @Lethalgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@matt6951 I just don’t see needing it for what this car will be used for regardless.

    Is that rhino liner on the undercarriage?

      Basically, yes. raptor liner over an epoxy. Did a wet on wet application.
