    Not only did he make this crazy awesome 8-bit synth, but he can play all of these game theme songs from memory. Freaking amazing.

      In response to OP: I would say that playing from sheet music is harder than playing from memory in most cases (including those portrayed in this video).

    Is it analogue or digital? Sorry for sounding stupid, but I just heard a bunch of analogue synths capable of sounding like 8bit or close to it.

    • @PTechnicalOriginal
      @PTechnicalOriginal 11 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      By definition, if it's 8bit it's digital. Basic pulse/noise waveform's generated by an 8bit processor, 1980's home computer style. These are modulated in various ways to produce effects, but if you notice - no filter. You can produce the same kind of tones with analog, with basic raw open filtered patches. If you're asking mate, shows you're not stupid...

    • @soylentgreenb
      @soylentgreenb 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      PTechnicalOriginal By definition, if it's outputing audible noise, there's some amount of analog circuitry involved. The voices, ring modulus and hard sync are digital, and the filter effects are analog (implementing a FIR filter or similar would have been much too expensive).

    • @PTechnicalOriginal
      @PTechnicalOriginal 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      soylentgreenb Analog circuitry involved in the output stages, yes I agree. As for the ring mod and hard sync, I must be missing something because I don't hear those effects here. Not quite with you friend, are we talking about this instrument?
