The Orville is a breath of fresh air in the sci-fi genre, effortlessly blending humor, heart, and high-stakes space exploration. Seth MacFarlane's brainchild strikes the perfect balance between homage to classic space operas and a witty, contemporary narrative.
The show's strength lies in its characters, each one a unique and lovable addition to the diverse crew. The chemistry among the cast is palpable, making every moment, whether comedic or dramatic, resonate with authenticity. MacFarlane's Captain Ed Mercer leads with a perfect mix of charisma and vulnerability, creating a protagonist you can't help but root for.
The Orville's writing is a standout feature, weaving intricate plots with social commentary and clever humor. It fearlessly tackles relevant issues while maintaining a sense of optimism and hope, mirroring the best traditions of the sci-fi genre. The special effects are top-notch, creating visually stunning scenes that rival big-budget productions.
What sets The Orville apart is its ability to surprise and delight. It's not afraid to take risks, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats while delivering moments of genuine emotion. Whether you're a hardcore sci-fi fan or just looking for a captivating and entertaining series, The Orville is a journey worth taking. In a universe filled with options, The Orville stands out as a shining star in the vast expanse of television. Welcome to Talking The Orville! Where a fan can be a fan... ENJOY WHAT YOU LIKE.

So 1/2 of the book will just be crew logs? That almost sounds like a novel way of doing an episode guide. What about the real meat and potatoes of the universe of the Orville? They mention information on the ship, aliens and so forth but how much info? The previous guide was a significant disappointment in this arena; giving some cursory information on a few things and being really just a behind the scenes production kind of thing.
My concern is this will be more of the same. Just a little bit of information for each entry in contrast to pages of pictures and story anecdotes. Will the alien section really focus on the physiology, capabilities and societies of these aliens or just be a commentary on how they crew the ship? Will we get some meaningful data on the capabilities of the Orville and other ships (including alien ones) or just deck descriptions? Will technology be comprehensively covered (how a comscanner works, or the range and ammunition capacity of the PM-44 and Longbow)? Is dysonium explained? How about medical technology? Exotic/alien foods? Lots of stuff were seen and mentioned in the show. What about in this book?
Sorry for the rant, but The World of Orville felt like a let down ("Making of..." is a better description) with its lack of world building information. Considering the significant price tag I want to know exactly what I'm investing in.
