Congratulations to Garrett on the new detector. Adding wireless with headphones, back light and additional features at a reasonable price is great. I don't think there is any doubt that this new AT Max will sell very well. We just really hope that it works well in salt water and highly mineralized soil.
Wow would love to use this but I can even afford the at pro . I live in West Virginia and take care of my mom and finding a job here is very hard to do. But I do have a cheap detector and go every chance that I have and detect . Awesome machines and garrett is top of the line. Great luck to everyone and happy hunting.
I've been detecting for 27 years so I know you don't find that much good stuff ! I do dig it all though as you can never be certain. late last year I had a right crackly signal that turned out to be a 9ct gold bracelet - thin and light but still treasure to me . . .
LyudmilaRGVK ....that would be me. And my AT Pro has a wild and wacky falsing problem, it's unusable. I thought it was just me at first. But today is only the second time out and it's worse. I'll be sending it back. I wonder if the AT Max is better than the Pro.
I can't wait to see the comparison on this to the market leaders right now... the AT Pro, XP Deus, CTX 3030, and that beautiful new Nokta Impact to name my favorites. The pricing on this fits between the AT Pro and all the other detectors listed, so it might have a valid spot in the lineup. I'm bummed that you can't change the tones, especially on the iron audio signals. Being able to lower iron sounds so you can still tell it's there, but it's not so loud, is amazing. My daughter's Fisher F22 can do that for $200 so really not happy that the new AT Max can't as well. I like the backlight. Definitely don't like that they kept the same shaft design. A straight shaft that drops the weight and balance below the wrist is so much more comfortable. Anyway, not trying to bash it at all. Just very excited to see when it gets released to see what it can really do.
nice true all metal and a threshold. finally a backlight. bout the same depth probably just includes everything they left off the first one. like to compare it against my f75.
For this moment i own 3 Garrett machines ( 400i, AT Pro and AT Gold) ; i had a lots of fun with those very reliable and great machines. Also my favourite pointer on the market is the AT carrot Propointer : i love it. I became a Garrett products fan ! I think than you can believe in the Garrett products. In the next months i will try to save money and buy the AT Max. Happy Hunting and All the best to Everyone.
Time for a new design and its still got that breakable arm cup. Also the location of the arm cup is still only good for short armed people or for a few hours detecting. I do like the new features but it's still way behind newer machines out on the market.
I would love one..The Hoover boys said to give it a look..I have a Bounty Hunter 1V, Don't laugh I found a old English coin yesterday..Yes it was shallow..Cheers..
humm my comment removed ?? CrazyCressy7 3 days ago Well glad i just bought a CTX 3030, dont get me wrong i found some great finds with my AT PRO ,but i was fed up of finding coke ,our permissions are full of coke and coke rings out the same as small Roman coins ,this new AT MAX will still find coke ,well done Garrett for doing a few upgrades but still not a VW ;p
Wish i has seen this AT MAX before I got My New AT PRO, I will have to wait till I Learn how to use this for 3 or 4 Years and Then I can get something from Garrett again , Blessings and Good Hunting , from BOB
Good video of why I need an ATMAX. I have some new spots where we hunted last time, and your iron/notch discrimination should open up lots of CS buttons and artifacts despite the modern trash on the surface. Let me know when, as this time the walking will be on almost level land throughout the site! Hint: this is close to where I found the Memphis medalion.
I often use the submersible headphones in all metal mode and notice that i gain an extra 2-3 inches in depth, I've proved this to myself by going over ground I've already grid-detected and noticed I've found things that beforehand I couldn't detect. I've done this in all weather conditions and seasons to test for the change of ground conductivity. happy hunting my friend
Until I get my hands on one to test there's no compelling reason to replace my Pro. Useful features that should have been on the original, also the nose heavy balance should have been addressed. Well the ATPro has its place as one of my tools. In turf I pack my V3i, F75 LTD and ATPro so I've got all the features needed and more. I want to depth test and salt beach test the new Max. Time to watch the shake out of the Max on the forums.
wow very nice! I have a quick question, I just got an at pro, and I'm dying to take in to the creeks. is there anything I need to do to the machine before submerging it in water? do I need to silicone any plug outlets or anything? I know it's water proof but I've been reluctant before taking it to the water
Jeremiah Frazier make sure your connections are tight every time you enter the water. And tether it to ya so it doesn't float away. Watch some aquachigger videos.
Get some silicone underwater lubricant from a dive Shop for your O rings on the battery compartment and Headphone and Coil connections .that divers use on their Regulators..If you read your instructions carefully I think it says to do that, also on your pro pointer AT Carrot if you have one,and always check your connections before entering the water. On my AT Pro one of the connectors kept backing it self off and getting loose. Also be sure to tie your AT Pro and your Pro Pointer AT to your detecting belt so they dont float away while you are trying to recover your Targets. You can make a Lanyard for your Pro Pointer AT using a 9 inch Bungee Ball and some zippy ties. I have been using Paracord to tie the AT Pro to my detecting belt, its pretty tough. Also watch Beau's aquachdigger Videos for great how to and equipment Videos.
How can it detect as small of gold as the AT Gold at only 13.6 mhz? The Pro is 15mhz ND THE gOLD IS 18MHZ? Why would you lower it on the Max. Is it better then Gold? Will it be more sensative to small gold then the AT Gold? I was just at the buying point of the Gold but now you guys launch this and confuse me more on which is the better all around detector. Help me out here please... Will it detect as small of gold as the Gold bug 2?
Thanks for the reply, I live in North Georgia where the gold here is very small, maybe even too small for the AT Gold to pick up in the first place. I like a lot of the features on the new Max but I was under the impression that the higher the khz the more sensitive the device will be. I am looking for a good detector for all around use, maybe even the salt water on beaches and I did hear the AT Gold is no good for beaches. But I also do a lot of gold prospecting and wanted one good for finding black sand and even small gold flakes. Can you give me advise on which of the 3 Garrett AT's you would buy the AT Gold, AT Pro or wait for the AT Max to become able to purchase and get it? I defiantly want an AT due to the fact it is totally waterproof. Thanks again for your suggestions or anybody elses that would like to give me advise
Thanks detectorist for your reply. I am no pro at this however I do my homework and it sure sounds to me that Garrett went backwards here on this release of the AT Max. To start the AT Pro operates at 15khz where the Max is only like 13.6Khz. Second the AT Gold is running at 18 Khz and I heard him say in the video that the Max is the best of both the Pro and Gold, how can this be when you downgrading the performance and are charging at least 200.00 dollars more? I agree the back light and wireless headset is nice but I just don't understand why you would launch a new machine that obviously don't have the standards that most metal detecting hobbyist are looking for in a detector. OK that is my rant, I am over it. So to answer your question about my area and what I am looking for in a detector is this. I live in North Georgia and have recently got struck by the gold bug and finding very small gold in the rivers in my area. I want a detector that has the ability to detect very small gold in the bedrock and black-sands of the river but being greedy I also want my meter to be great at coins, Civil War relics, be able to use on beaches and salt water and also a most is that I can go under water with it. I originally was sold on the Fisher Gold Bug 2 at 71khz or maybe better I cant remember but then learned it wasn't good at picking through iron nor did it like salt water so I then focused my attention on the Garrett AT Gold at 18khz. Once again I was reading some reviews that it is not to fond of saltwater. I like the Iron audio, true all metal mode with adjustable threshold and the ground balance window on the AT Gold but I am not sure that at only 18khz it will pick up the smaller gold. I got excited when I seen the Max video launch and then I watched it and was like well damn what a waste so I am really confused now on what route to take. I want 1 detector to do all my wants but then again people in hell want a glass of water as well. Any advise that you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Oh I almost forgot to mention the wife and I travel a lot in our RV so I will be taking my hobby to all kinds of ground so a unit with good ground balance trac would be nice as well. Again thanks.
0 disc mode sounds good. I really don't understand why anyone uses disc anymore, its just an outdated hangover from single tone machines, you're FAR less likely to dig large and misshapen ferrous if you can hear the low tone AROUND the high.
when would be avalible in Europe l will buy first!!!! how l can see machine is very nice. l use at pro, SHm2, pinpointer (carrot). garett is best and simpliest machine but mine at pro have backlight( as original - done with el foil)
omg omg omg Garrett you've answered our prayers this is amazing I wish I could afford one but things are kinda tough at the moment but someday AT MAX you will be mine 😁😁😁👍👍
Audio is brilliant but why old bulky housing again? This is nose overweight for water. AT PRO was worst ergonomy machine in my metal detecting world! I have many heavier machines... but well balanced!
I agree, I got rid of my AT Pro because of how much of a pain it was to swing. I even ran the coil backwards. Hands down it is the most idiot proof detector I've used and had one of the most solid locking VDIs I've used but I hated swinging it. I've contemplated buying another and rigging up a new straight chassis for it with the unit ontop of the handle. We will see how cheap ATPs get now.
Green Meanie my mx sport works fine in salt water......and they set this up the same way. I bet it will do ok, not great but ok in salt. still think the mx sport seems like a better machine
Had a mx sport and sold it didn't work good for me in salt but I never thought it would. Many vids on youtube saying the same just no depth when in the salt water but in dry sand it is good. I agree this looks like garrets MX SPORT but I think whites copied their at pro with the sport same target market. Pretty similar machines.
I was digging musket balls at 12 inchs deep in a tidal area a few weeks ago. You just need to know how to set up and use your machine. Plus mxsport took that market garrett created and just did it better in every way. Better hold balance in water, better depth, better target seperation, more tones, back lit screen that's much easier to read, all metal mode, incredible battery life, and salt water capabilities(not the best in salt water but does well,if your going salt you should just get pulse). I'm sure I missed something else but you get the point that whites just did a better job. It did come at a cost though so the at pro still holds importance at that price range. Unless this thing kills the mx sport in depth and several other categorie, it sends like a pointless update to the garrett line. They missed their chance to gain a foot hold and produce something truly amazing. Instead they just setteled on changing some guts and tossing into the market.
I will look forward to seeing a video of you digging those 12 musket balls 12" deep in salt water. I doubt my CTX will even hit a 12" musket ball in salt.
In Parks and Beaches the Excalibur is just so much slower recovery speed and is vulnerable to MASKING. Excaliburs can only deal with so much mineral. I feel Garrett's enhancements are worth taking a look at but I would not get rid of my AT Pro.
Interesting new model if you haven't got an AT Pro take a test drive :o) But please Garrett please get rid of this video 'music track' , it's totally horrendous !!
maybe if i said plated plastic....but i just said plastic....so that means its not plated plastic....its just plastic.....like plastic plastic..the kind thats not plated plastic!!!!!
Great, now I won't sleep for a week. I've been driving myself crazy over the AT Pro.... Now I get to dream of this bad boy. If the sweepstakes gods are listening, I would desperately love one of these. Maybe I should list a kidney for sale on Craigslist.
Looks like the same crap design with the same housing issues. The wireless headphones are nice, the increased depth is nice, but I was expecting something groundbreaking. Not just a combination of existing machines. How much depth? Nothing is said about that. I like the price point. I know the other machines, even with their vast faults, are still dollar for dollar one of the best deals in detecting. I'll buy this one as I buy all Minelab and Garrett products, but it better actually have a noticeable improvement or I'm just sticking with my CTX, GPZ, and the soon to be released Gold Monster.
Common Garrett... The announcement was announced the 6th.. How about some more videos on hunting and demonstrations. My money is burning a hole in my pocket. Will it be Garrett? Or something else.
Congratulations to Garrett on the new detector. Adding wireless with headphones, back light and additional features at a reasonable price is great. I don't think there is any doubt that this new AT Max will sell very well. We just really hope that it works well in salt water and highly mineralized soil.
Was expecting more for six years
AT PRO Y AT GOLD en uno!! increible! son grandes maquinas! congratulations GARRETT! and tanks!
nos esperan muchos tesoros por descubrir!!!
very nice. I think that their should be a standard version where the international/ US features and read outs can be changed as needed on the machine
I am in love! So stoked to get my hands on one! To think I was going to pony up for a Minelab CTX 3030 this year LOL... This has changed my mind!
Desert Detective 💙❤
It wont touch a CTX so bad decision.
Its a great choice if you dont have a detector, but not enough for me to change my at pro. Love the backlight though.
Does Garrett ever answer anyone's questions on their own TH-cam Channel?
Very good. Send for me
I can't see the point in upgrading my AT Pro. This won't detect deeper and Kurt says dig it all anyway !
I've been detecting for 27 years so I know you don't find that much good stuff ! I do dig it all though as you can never be certain. late last year I had a right crackly signal that turned out to be a 9ct gold bracelet - thin and light but still treasure to me . . .
great.....a new Garrett machine that makes the AT pro/ gold obsolete......I'll stick with my scorpion thank you
How many detectorist just recently purchased an AT Pro.and or the Z-link ? .Woops! Thats gotta hurt.
LyudmilaRGVK
....that would be me.
And my AT Pro has a wild and wacky falsing problem, it's unusable. I thought it was just me at first.
But today is only the second time out and it's worse.
I'll be sending it back.
I wonder if the AT Max is better than the Pro.

I love my AT Pro and do quite well with it. This has some nice features that would cool too have ... now I just need to have a lottery hit. 😎
yerdigginit metal detecting 😂😂😂😂
I hope ya got the coils fixed. Been a lot of issues with the DD coils.
nice true all metal and a threshold. finally a backlight. bout the same depth probably just includes everything they left off the first one. like to compare it against my f75.

How does this compare to my Playskool Treasure Sniffer Jr.?
looks good that i like the back light option although not sure what that would do to battery power if on a long hunt :))
By my calculations it will use up around 25% of the total time so 8 hours would become 6 ;-)
that's not to bad really i wouldn't use the light all the time just when i got a signal :))
So all the time then lol
volume change ?? i wil searching without headphones
aw man.. I just bought my AT pro last September. I guess I'll wait a while to get this one.
Wish i has seen this AT MAX before I got My New AT PRO, I will have to wait till I Learn how to use this for 3 or 4 Years and Then I can get something from Garrett again , Blessings and Good Hunting , from BOB

Reggie Simmons ide check out the mxsport first
I´d really like to see how this performs in salt water and wet sand!
Don't get your hopes up.
За беспроводные наушники, подсветку дисплея, частоту 13.6кГц. и ALL-METAL 10+! AT-GOLD+
i use the garrett ace 400 and the max blows my mind!
i neeeeeeed it
Will your current Nel coil(s) for ATPro work with this machine?
Zen B someone on the facebook page asked if the current nel coils will work on the new max, the answer was NO ,
I was really looking forward to this machine, but I am not looking forward to purchasing new coils. I think that I will pass on this one.
What about the weight? Do the extra features make it heavier ???
I was sure looking forward to a multi frequency machine. Bummer...
Looks good. Would love the chance to test it out.
for that price should have threw in the smaller coil would have made the package a whole lot better
I'm happy to stick with my AT PRO I'd be interested in this new machine possibly if there was a depth increase...but no.
I often use the submersible headphones in all metal mode and notice that i gain an extra 2-3 inches in depth, I've proved this to myself by going over ground I've already grid-detected and noticed I've found things that beforehand I couldn't detect. thanku my friend if u need some luck back just let me know lol
OOUUUYEAAAH ! verry nice good Technologis !

How long will the headphones run on one charge ?
Durrington Dave if you modify them and add a big lithium polymer battery pack they will last day and night
*-Hi!, Which is better to find gold between AT MAX and AT GOLD? Why?.
just wow !!!! its on my wish list !!!!
How do u charge headphones and how long battery lasts?
Nice unit . 👍
OMG Steve How Much Are they going to be and when are they coming out
wow very nice! The used AT-Pro market just exploded.
No, not really, thats a disappointment
Hola!!!

is there any word on a release in australia, ive put a large deposit down at my local dealer for one?
Great!

freaking awesome I bet it cost alot though.
Price?
$850.00
$720.00 available for preorder
I'll take one. Like, right yesterday!!
But how deep will the price be in wallets?
When and where can I get one?

hi,have you seen the anderson shaft for the atp,its what garrett should have done with the new max, atb hh gl
Another additional payment. No way.
So it can be used in salt water
No way in hell they are lying to you. MAX 3 inches depth if you are lucky.
Green Meanie my mx sport works fine in salt water......and they set this up the same way. I bet it will do ok, not great but ok in salt. still think the mx sport seems like a better machine

NICE!
really are you serious OMG after 6 years only same machine with a little different . i will buy Excalibur machine better than this machine .
In Parks and Beaches the Excalibur is just so much slower recovery speed and is vulnerable to MASKING. Excaliburs can only deal with so much mineral. I feel Garrett's enhancements are worth taking a look at but I would not get rid of my AT Pro.
disappointing, Ill stick with my AT Gold and xterra 705, time to invest in some xterra coils
Hey Garrett send me one i'll do a review :)
Would love to be able to afford one of those!!!!!
Interesting new model if you haven't got an AT Pro take a test drive :o)
But please Garrett please get rid of this video 'music track' , it's totally horrendous !!
wow it has all metal mode!!! i guess thats so it wont pickup arrowheads and plastic like they do ALL THE TIME!
Plastic? Are we talking about plated plastic? Wouldn't a true all metal mode still pick up plated plastic?
maybe if i said plated plastic....but i just said plastic....so that means its not plated plastic....its just plastic.....like plastic plastic..the kind thats not plated plastic!!!!!
👍
Great, now I won't sleep for a week. I've been driving myself crazy over the AT Pro.... Now I get to dream of this bad boy. If the sweepstakes gods are listening, I would desperately love one of these. Maybe I should list a kidney for sale on Craigslist.
Please send me one and I will demo for you.Thank you sir.
Take my money!!
Well let's see the set up and some one in the salt water ,not just in wet sand please
show us the sounds you get on the beach, salt water
if we didnt have thoose ridiculous laws in Sweden i might have bought this one..
If anyone is throwing out their pro or gold I'll take it.
looks like a machine just for garrett enthusiast, people that actually use the ace250 (a lot of ppl). I was waiting something better... shame
I just want the hat.....
Common Garrett... The announcement was announced the 6th.. How about some more videos on hunting and demonstrations. My money is burning a hole in my pocket. Will it be Garrett? Or something else.
