Would like to see a Depth test and also nail board test with Rusty Square Nails. 👍
Give him a little bit of time but I bet IffySignals will be doing this test soon enough.
We will have one done on here soon. I didn’t want to do what every other tester does and bore everyone to tears with random tests. The field is where a machine proves itself so that’s where I put it 😎
Hi! Great video and I'm looking forward to getting my vortex. I was reading the getting started manual and it has an option called high resolution iron discrimination. I've never seen anything like that before. What does it do and how do we set it?
Thank you and I'm looking forward too some in depth videos on the operation of this machine.
I really wanted to like the Vortex, but the sound is way too jarring and stressful to me, so that ends my interest in the Vortex, I'm done.
The Minelab detectors are so much better sounding and I'm really enjoying using the Manticore with the M9 coil, which is amazing. I just found an iPhone at 18 inches in the wet sand.
Too each their own but for me I don’t like Moreland tones.
It's repurposed crap. I really enjoy your dump digging videos, Brandon, but Garrett makes mediocre machines, except for the Axiom. I run an Xterra Pro, XLT, and F75. I'll be getting an Xterra Elite soon. Garrett rocks when it comes to marketing garbage.
Snaffle bit.
Can you submerge yourself in water without headphones? Or do you need the headphones, greetings, I am a new subscriber, what is the price? In shop
You can but the speaker will be muffled so headphones are needed for functionality.
If the screen and handle was foldable, that would be cool..
That would remind me of a transformer
I could see that being handy.
I want to see it in salt water.
Me too!
I’ll have it in salt soon 😎
Good video.
Thanks!
looks alot like the apex at least you can got in to the water like AT PRO
Been pounded and you find all these targets..hmmmmmmm!!!!!😊
I wonder why they didn't go wire-less with the Vortex, I use a wire-less machine relic hunting, you don't have to worry about getting tangled up in the brambles, and when the machine is collapsed you don't have a wad of wire around the shaft.
What day of the week is the best day for an Adventure Archaeology video? Only the days that end in Y (mondaY, tuesdaY. etc. for those of you without kids or grandkids to hear silly jokes from) :o)
Haha you’re awesome
Couldn’t imagine a better person than you doing this thanks for clearly explaining and showing us what it’s all about 💪 Great Job. Garrett Rocks and have fun in Virginia.
Thanks Herbert! Looking forward to seeing you in Arkansas in the Fall!
Looks like a nice machine 😎👍...
These were test models I was using and I was blown away by them!
@@adventurearchaeology
Lol, I still swing the old Spectrum xlt....It's all I have ever used 🤣👍
I still have my 150, they gotta get away from using steel round tube for their frames to get them to fold down more compact.
How does it stack up against the other multi IQ machines like the Manticore and Deus 2?
I think if it did they would charge accordingly. Hopefully I’m wrong
@AdventureArchaeology4 No way, what did I win?
Garrett really needs to improve the tones, sounds terrible!
Any chance Garrett will add vibration to the handle for hard of hearing and diving?
Looks like a good one. 😊
Awesome detector. Like the color, blue is a lot better than the yellow of the Ace series 😅
Have fun with it
I liked the Ace Apex yellow, not the Ace 300 yellow.
Francis I've been metal detecting of 62 years old are you go prospecting metal detecting always stuck with Garrett My first machine on Charles Garrett tune-ups and picked up everything I had a whites but not a good idea but if you want to come to Hagerstown Maryland I've been taking down at the AT pro laying down six feet deep it's crazy over here all civil war the whole the whole city the whole state over here in Hagerstown Maryland got a big battle in the civil war battle and I did my yard asked my landlord metal detect I found my first copper in my yard boy scout Buffalo 4 1/2 ft deep that's old fire station first one built in town mission to metal detect that next door without down 6 ft 7 ft with the AT pro metal detector a lot of artifacts Indian pottery my buddy found the old ink bottle The voice text smell detector I like very much I watched your video how much that what's the price on the voice text I do gopending too we give a go pants Garrett go pants I found Golden Hagerstown Maryland I found Golden nuggets can you go nuggets I go to the schoolyard a mile and a half of the road and I found so much stuff there unreal a lot of change Father gold butterfly to the store and the guy tested it you'll go real gold so you didn't touch me on I talked to Rusty I get metal detectors I told my father I've been taking down with the itchy pro you couldn't believe it wow I did have a h250 I found out of that pay for itself an auntie pro about that 2020 pay for itself in 2 days in West Virginia My buddy at the house went back 1920 and well I'm dimes and I dug down about two three and a half feet and I found all Mercury dimes in a bottle formation Mason jars I read my microphone to talk I can't text oh you come to Hagerstown Maryland and help me and I'll show you how deep I've been digging over the fire station and have a cell phone number I'll give you let me know if my cowboy been hell with the homeless people in 2022 and Hagerstown Maryland Plus made me a team member and a health mental healthy January 1st 3rd 2024 . This looks like a great new unit, Brandon! And yes, that was half of a horse bit you found.❤
I do like the blue. With a brighter color it would be easier to spot it in the woods if you set your machine down. The camo one I would be afraid it would get lost.
Haha I’ve done that with the camo apex a couple times lol
Your not fat brother
Should’ve seen me putting that wet suit on……. Not sure you’d agree then 😂😂😂😂🤷♂️
Would like to see depth on coins on land and beach.
I like blue on a water machine. First time I saw it was Teknetics S/T IN the late 80’s early 90’s
Nice!
Most of the lamps I find being from N.J. are P&A Mfg Co. Plume & Atwood Waterbury, Conn.
Looks like a good machine maybe it will put the company on top again 😂
Don't hold your breath
Happy belated Father's Day Brandon. The new detector looks great, I luv the color and the lightweight feature is a huge plus. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us all in your TH-cam family.
Awesome! Never been a Garrett guy, but looks like another great machine!
This is a good one. Should be a game changer moving forward for Garrett users.
How much is it selling for? I can't find that info on garrett site or kellyco. So apparently they really don't want me to buy one.
I was also wondering 🤔
$599 for the one with all the features. Vx9 I believe.
$4-600 for the 3 models. Screaming price for sure
That is an old horse bit.
Super cool you got to test it out.
What other machines have you used, how does the Vortex compare in depth?
I’ve used pretty much everything on the Market. Today while in Virginia I was hitting signals a ctx30/30 was missing. Time will tell and I’m sure there will be a ton of comparison videos coming out once the machines launch.
Was it bad ground, high iron or? If it goes as deep as the 3030, it will be a winner, and I may buy my first Garrett since the AT pro, lol. QUESTION; does it have a noise cancel? Thanks
@@jerrytalley802no. It doesn’t have an automatic noise cancel.
Why is it giving such a large signal on such a small target? Confusing
Because there is square nails all the way around it.
THANK YOU 👍🙏>>>💚
That unit looks good and functions great. The Blue is ok too,
Good luck out there.
Cheers
It wasn't even turned on underwater.
@@СЕРЖПОТЁМКИН-н2ш Yes it was. It had a protective screen cover on that didn’t show the numbers due to it being a prototype model.
Awesome
I like the blue and collapsible ability!
Blue is fine
I plan on buying this new Vortex. Nokta has just come out with the triple score for less money as well. It will be interesting to see how it performs against my Legend & Nox800. Thanks for the great video.
I have garrett 400 and no complaints. I seriously thinking about this one. Great video
I think it would be a big upgrade for you!
@@adventurearchaeology I would love to get my hands on it. It would be a serious upgrade. Ty for the video . If you ever want to get rid of it, wink, I'll take it.
Thank you Brandon for the information on this detector !
You bet!
Totally awesome
I like that new machine! Wonder if the new arm rest would work on my at pro? It’s broken completely off just like you said. Think truck bed got it. Enjoyed the video!
I do not like Garrett but LOVE your videos ...
Glad you love your videos but Im unsure as to why you wouldn’t like Garrett?
@@adventurearchaeology I hate Garrett because they are very slow with technology.
I’m just glad to be a good enough treasure hunter to not depend on technology 🤷♂️
@@adventurearchaeologyunless you have x-ray vision then you have to rely on technology. What ever detector you are using is classified as modern technology. If you do not depend on technology then don’t even take a detector with you.
@@lancemcilwainoutcastmetald5398 A lot of times I don’t take a detector with me🤷♂️
I get their price points are low on this $600 for the vx9 but I don’t see carbon fiber and are the wireless headphones extra ? Based on the launch it seems like everything is extra so it adds up , curious how you see the iron bars as anything different than etrac
The MS3 headphones from previous models will work with the Vortex so no added cost if you have a Garrett Machine using them Already. The carbon fiber shaft would be nice but it saves quite literally ozs of weight for quite a higher price. The iron bars would be better compared to the manticore in my opinion but flipped and of course for less than 1/2 the price. The downloadable upgrades will definitely be how the detector market moves forward I have no doubt. Software is the difference maker.
@@adventurearchaeology the thing is they are t targeting at max buyers here they are targeting Minelab and Nokta so the accessories are not there
I wouldn't mention the Manticore and this machine in the same sentence. They are nothing close to the same. The Manticore comes with headphones, the Manticore has cam locks, the Manticore has 10X the settings for adjustment. All that being said, I really wanted to buy and support an American company. The dealbreaker for me was no headphones and "thin mode." Which was specifically mentioned as being for gold coins and hammered coins in Europe. I live in the U.S.A. and I could pull up multiple videos of gold coins found with Minelab and XP machines. The last machine I bought without headphones cost me $269, not $450. My Bounty Hunter Tracker 4 that I started out with had this type of locks on it. I have a Manticore and what I've seen of those iron bars, no that is nothing like a Manticore.
@@adventurearchaeology manticore graph is more complex than vortex iron bars.
Hey Brandon. Greadings from Rochester, New York. Excellent video. I’m very excited about the new Vortex. I have been a Garrett user for about seven years now I was using whites before that. I really like the Apex machine that’s basically my go to machine. The AT Pro is for my water hunting. I always said if they could take the Apex and make it waterproof it would be the perfect machine. Looking forward to future videos.
Great video!😊
Love the blue
Dang Brandon, that beard is full on. Stop talking negatively about yourself like that either 🫵❤
Color does not make the machine. Finding things is the main thing. Great video. I live close to Garrett headquarters.
Looks just like my gordan detector same design and color I just bought plus my vanquish 540 and my gordon both have the same type of arm rest
It would be nice if the control box and screen could fold down as well for easier storage when traveling. None of the detector manufactures have thought of this yet and it would be a winning feature for experienced metal detectorists to have a detector that fits easily in small back pack and still leave room for a little more gear. Or a carry on travel bag on an airplane.
Defn. need this can't carry much for very long since going on chemo.
Thanks for sharing this test unit video. How does the water proof headphones connected, is it threaded or just like ordinary 1/8” jack?
It’s a regular 1/8” jack.
@@adventurearchaeology oh, that’s a good waterproofing done there but need to tie the hp cable when usung underwater to avoid pulling it out while diving. Thanks for confirming. Can’t wait to have one
This was fun! The technical jargon rolls right over my head, but it's still interesting!
Love your background at the end! Some beautiful stuff and wide varieties! Very cool!
I do love the tone of this detector, thanks for video
It is a round ball it might not just be a musket ball..32, 40,45,50,-60 size ball for each size of barrels ..I might not listed all
This is true…..
Wish they would make a black and yellow one lol
The Garret Vortex blue colored detctor matches my 2010 Royal Blue Pearl Honda Fit, and my blue eyes. L.O.L.
It’s a beautiful color for sure!
Blue and Green are my two favorite colors.
Nice looking machine, does it come in a Black? I'm not a fan of bright coloered machines, bright colors are a kid magnets in parks.
Afraid not. I personally am tired of the same black/grey machines that every company uses. It’s nice to see something different.
Since you asked, the color looks cheap and dated. It should have been colored in the gray scale, like the Axiom. In the presentation today, it was stated that “It’s not a toy.”, yet it is the color of a toy.
Oh man I couldn’t disagree more. I love the blue. It would be cool to have a limited addition series in the future blacked out or camo though.
Most importantly, what's the price point? I never go diving, but it looks pretty easy to use it on land. Can't wait to see you using it in Virginia
There are 3 series of the detectors ranging from $4-600 range
Well, I’m happy to see. They finally updated their technology to multi frequency.
It’s awesome 😎
Its about time Garrett came out with something more advanced. I’m not against their machines at all. They are great, but they have some catching up to do. I hope they keep on till they are top tier. I am running Minelab and XP, but I would rather spend my money here in the U.S.A. I use their pinpointer already. Great Video brother!
For the price point on this machine it’s a beast.
When I first seen the Vortex I did not care for the blue color, but now that I watched your video i like it, I like the Pod design it reminds me of my Axiom, I am kind of on the fence on this one, have the Legend which is a good detector or was a good detector until the 1.11 version was introduced and my Legend has not been the same since I installed the 1.11 so this new Vortex I may be picking one up when they become available
I think you’ll be surprised how much you’ll like it.
so is the spring water cool? with the heat in the south, cool water to swim in sounds great!
I have to pull out my old white detector and look around my home to see if I can find anything.
great video, happy hunting history!
It’s freezing haha
seems like to me that the Garrett at Max is just as good, or maybe even better because you can bring back up batteries, and separation doesn't matter when it's best to dig all signals, the color is nice though. and salt water capability is also nice
Honestly recovery speed is faster than an Atmax. Don’t get me wrong I love my Max but the Vortex will be my new goto!
I'm going to get one of these.
Yes @ 2:48 it's a Horse Bit. Going into the set you use/used would be great. thanks
Cool, thanks
No VCO pinpointing?
Keep up the great hunts
Half of sniffle bit.
I'm looking for treasures, is it good in depth?
Sure seems to be!
@@adventurearchaeology thank you
Great video! I've hunted and collected bottles for 30 years off and on and I also hunt artifacts. Arrowheads and anything ancient. But I have a buddy that is into metal detecting and likes finding artifacts also. But I can't stay with the detector because I'm looking at the ground for artifacts too often. Anyway I'm definitely gonna give it a shot again. But I'm really interested in the thing floating above you when you are diving.? I'm assuming it's a breathing apparatus? If so it looks very cool! Runs off batteries? How long can you stay down? And I'm curious what it cost? Ballpark? Thanks for all of your videos! I have seen them all and always look forward to the new one's! This didn't disappoint!
The thing floating above him is a BLU3 Nomad. It allows you to hunt up to 15 feet for an hour each battery if my memory is correct.
Mr.Technical is correct on brand this hookah dive unit unit is around $1200 currently
Neat metal detector
Looks like my equinox except blue
And American made with different features 😎
I love the blue.
I kept saying metal detectors have moved in to technology through software. I kept saying they could do it all with software. It is a continuation of White's Spectra V3i. This may be my next metal detector. I have noticed through recent years metal detectors dominating with the technology of software writers. I never doubted Garrett for a minute. American made! Good quality workmanship. This might be the first software writers that totally changed the metal detector? I will wait and make an informed decision. To have the best metal detector is to have the best software writers? For the past few years there has been one leader in the metal detecting field that is the leader with software writers, and customer relationsI Together with being attentive and responsive. To have the best software writers simply advertise for software writers and willing to pay top salary. I subscribed. Thanks for the video.
You are right. Software is the future of detecting and how machines “morph”
@@adventurearchaeology This is what White's Spectra V3i owners kept wanting in the V3i. Waterproof! New technology. Lithium-ion battery! I never did count Garrett out! And the ability to update a metal detector from one version of the metal detector to a completely different model is awesome. Garrett has raised the bar and it will be a hard act to follow. Thanks for the video.
Nice 👍👍
SO Good👍
Is the stem carbon fiber, aluminum, or plastic?
It looks to be all plastic and thank god. It was recently discovered that carbon fiber is conductive and very sensitive to micro movements.
Not to mention cost savings to the end user over a couple of ozs of weight…….
Garrett should have used carbon fiber for the shaft, but I got that covered..
Carbon fiber can be conductive also an added cost to the end user for only saving a couple of ozs of weight.
@@adventurearchaeology , never had an issue with carbon fiber on the Legend, and I am sure someone will come out with a carbon fiber shaft. I am just glad I can come home to Garrett, been waiting for them to come out with this. I have the AT Max and Legend and alternate them on sites.
I’d love to dive that spring. I understand if you don’t want to share it though.
This was a private property situation or I’d share it gladly.
@@adventurearchaeology thanks for the reply!
What coils will be available?
Garretts video they released with all of the details is pinned and in the video description where they explain the coil selection.
Is the shaft carbon fiber?
No and thank god it’s not! Added cost to save a couple ozs never made sense to me.
Coin air test Please!🎉🎉🎉🎉
I was waiting to see a video now I’ve seen the video. Got some questions. Can you charge it with your truck charger? From what I understand of this video you have to upgrade the machine to go in salt water. If that’s the case that is a very disappointing Garrett. I might be wrong, but that’s what I got out of this video. Yes I’m Alabama. to because I want to buy a new unit and I was waiting for this unit to come out and this is the first video saying I want to get so I need more information
Upgrading is much better than buying a whole different machine. The upgrade is super cheap. Downloadable upgrades will be the future of Metal Detecting. Just like how video games have dlc expansion packs.
@@adventurearchaeology the upgrades suck and are just a money grab from garrett. VX5 doesn't even have a beach setting.
A money grab would be designing 3 machines that do the same thing and charging outrageous pricing. Some people do not have $600 to spend on a detector but they do have $400. Instead of buying an entire new machine they can pay the small upgrade fee when they have the money and save theirselves the hassle of learning a new machine and its capabilities. People need to be more open minded as the future is here and it’s now. It’s no different than buying DLC packs for video games and millions of people have been doing that for years 🤷♂️
@@adventurearchaeology Garrett sucks! I would never buy a Garrett.
🥰🥰
What brand and kind of hooka system is that?
BLU3 Nomad it looks like
Nailed it
Holy hell, look at the arms on that woman! She's built!
My wife is pretty upset I put that clip up not sure why the camera made her look like that haha
@@adventurearchaeology I meant it in a good way, sorry if I came across as rude. She looks great.
@@adventurearchaeologyShe shouldn’t be upset.
How much?
$4-600
I like the blue color. I truly like it can be used in all environments!!
I love the blue, it looks like its gonna be a great detector
