- This is the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ that set a world record top speed of 304.77mph! There will be 30 customer cars to be built and who better to show us around than Andy Wallace, who piloted the car to its Vmax, breaking through the 300mph barrier for the first time in the process.
The Bugatti Chiron launched a number of years ago as the successor to the Veyron and it was always expected and hoped that a Super Sport version would follow that could attempt to break a new top speed record. With 300mph in their sights, Bugatti have created exactly that car and achieved the top speed of 304.77mph or 490.48km/h at the VW test facility in Ehra-Lessien.
Versus a regular Chiron, the new car features a power bump to 1,600hp (1,500hp in the Chiron) and significantly revised aerodynamics. From the front onwards the profile has changed, with new air curtains around the sides, openings to release air from the front wheel wells, and most significantly a tail that is elongated by 25cms. Challenges came on many fronts to make the run possible, from the contact to the ground with tyres to handle this speed, through to the precision and solidity of every component in the car.
While the run is not recognised as the "Guinness World Record" as it was not completed in both directions due to the nature of the track, that still stands with the Koenigsegg Agera RS at 277.9mph using a complete standard customer car. Also the first road car, and in this case a road legal car at that, to break the 300mph barrier is a modified 2006 Ford GT from M2K Motorsports that achieved 300.4mph in just a standing mile! However, the Chiron Super Sport 300+ has taken the crown for the highest speed and certainly cements Bugatti as the first manufacturer to break the 300mph mark. Not only that, but when customer cars are delivered, they should in every way be able to match the incredibly high top speeds too, and those will of course be road legal.

AWOL yeah, Drivetribe said it was 25cm longer than the regular Chiron and that makes it a lot more aerodynamic and of course it looks a lot sleeker.

Ford GT doing 300 mph dosen't count. Its a heavily modified sh*t and not a factory fresh. And Bugatti then confirming that the production car will have the exact same spec as this one, leaving the ford gt nowhere.
@@davel7037 Also consider that this car didn't average over 300 mph over two passes in opposite directions, it only did one. Bugatti thought the rubber wouldn't hold another pass, and so never completed one. I don't doubt the car can do 300 average, unless Bugatti were shady and had significant winds in their favour.

@@Selfreviweing they have said that in nevada where the conditions are in favour of top speed, it could have done 320 mph easily. Ehra lesin has almost no elavation difference so no doubt it can do average 300 mph with production model.

HazoINC I definitely believed them in that. They’ve got the engine, the shape of the car nailed down amazingly. It’s always the tires that is the problem.

It is sad that Bugatti will no longer chase the speed records anymore as it retires from speed records... but anyways it will be the most marvellous hypercar and remains to be the masterpiece car manufacturer.

@@A01009aaron I mean yea it's a pre-production car so they just made the body adjustments and the engine upgrade as fast as possible and since the gap would still not affect the performance they left it as it is...so I do think if the supersport poduction model won't have a spoiler they will make it one piece with no gaps...

However, I admire this stunning piece of a vehicle, it just looks incredible and is stupendously fast. It may soon overtake Koenigsegg’s production car speed record, but time can only tell. Since Koenigsegg Jesko and SSC Tuatara are surely gonna attempt to beat them shortly.

I delightfully surprised when Andy explained about the Zero-Zero aero balance, and the 2t lift vs 2t downforce - it's astonishing that the car is withstanding those massive forces when going through the air at Vmax! I am envious of the lucky 30 who will own them, hopefully the depth of engineering will be well appreciated by the buyers!

Sorry if I come across as rude for asking, but it would be super awesome if you got a really good quality camera. The picture quality of your videos isn't very good yet you review some amazing cars (as well as owning many amazing ones yourself). I'm poor yet I've got a GoPro Hero 7 Black that records in 4k, 2k and 1080, and even when I record in 1080, the video quality is noticeably clearer than your videos. I hate to moan but I do so to only enjoy your videos more lol!
Handycam is the best camera for audio, stability and picture quality. Nothing beats that. Many, many, many influencers use those camera. No GoPro could ever get the type of audio and stability like my camera has. The quality has nothing to do with the camera, but the way I render my files. I don't make them too big, else I can't get them uploaded when I am on the move. That has a slight impact on the quality of the picture, but unfortunately it is what it is. I am not going to increase my file size, else it will take ages to get them uploaded every single day.

I understand what you're saying, but almost all other car Yotubers are also on the move a lot if not most of the time and yet their videos quality is very good. Mr JWW, Seen Through Glass, Vehicle Virgins, Daily Driven Exotics, Salomondrin, The Stradman, and even smaller TH-camrs like Cars With Luke and Mondi all seem to have a far sharper quality on their videos than yours. I know that you're friends with some (if not all) of them so you could ask them how they manage. Sorry if I come across as patronizing but it would be awesome if your videos were sharper. After all, we all watch these videos largely for the aesthetics of seeing beautiful exotic sports, super and hypercars, and a lesser quality image takes away from this beauty. After all, 4k porn is much more enjoyable than 480p porn LOL!

Bugatti and Andy Wallace (McLaren F1 record driver!!! My favorite record!) have both done previous top speed records on that track in both directions. I hope that they go back and do the record runs again both ways when the production car comes out. If the SSC can break the land speed record and the sound Barrier in both directions on dirt... Bugatti can do it in both directions on their private test track. Having to do it both ways in short order has always kept things above board and is a tradition we should not turn away from. Love the accomplishment, the driver, the engineering, and the car... just wish they broke the old record instead of starting a new one.
