Truly one of the best concert moments on TH-cam. And his lone voice with the light refraction of the camera behind David is absolutely perfect cinematography
I would like to thank every single person who attended this majestic performance. You silence in appreciation of this band is what made this even more enjoyable.
I attended to a Gilmour's show in LA last march and it was the first concert I went where the crowd was quite, as if each one of us were living our own trip. Such a magical experience.
Gilmour stated in an interview that the bare stripped down version of this song is his heartfelt remembrance and tribute to Syd after his passing. You can really tell during this song during this tour that every single performance of this song is truly heartfelt from the first note struck on his old black strat to the last word "Shine" you can feel the pain, anguish, regret and sadness inside Mr. Gilmour. And that is why I love him, very few artists can convey what he can in musical expression.
The lonely voice of Gilmour singing this masterpiece accompanied only by his guitar gives me gossebumps. This is the greatest version of this song. It's marvelous.
Well, "Mr." Fallah. Maybe you should stop being the pseudo intellectual you want to seem to be and stop raining on other peoples OPINIONS !! Maybe you won't have to tie a pork chop to your neck so the dog would play with you.
well :) david is one of the best musicians in the last century ... but you can't say that he is the beethoven of our times. I mean Roger is the creator of most of pink floyd music. David is a great musician and I'd prefer him over Roger for a show. But without Roger i think David would be nothing. Anyway your reply is kind of pathetic :) I won't reply in the same way. just go listen to some kanye west maybe you will find people to argue with in the same way.
Uh..no...Roger wrote most of the lyrics, not the music...the music was almost completely Gilmour and Wright, with the occasional chord progression provided by Roger as a vehicle for his words. Roger was/is a great lyricist...but you only have to listen to The Final Cut to get a taste of Waters writing most of the music. You really think Roger Waters wrote the music to Great Gig In The Sky, or the solo to Comfortably Numb??
This is one of those performances that again shows the moment in every one of davids songs. He captures every bit of resonance from every instrument, never lets it die. The sound just echoes into the next note and amplifies.
I grew up on Pink Floyd since the age of 10 years old in Tehran, Iran. 4 decades later I’m still in love with their music... They broadcasted the sounds and words of another galaxy on earth 🙏❤️
i cant put into words my satisfaction of Gilmour playing in my country, and that every minute of concert was recorded, that now i can just put the DVD disc in ROM and fly away... thank you very much either.
I’ve had the great fortune to see Floyd and Gilmour live, on many occasions. Other than front row center, for the Pulse tour, this is by far, the concert, where all the stars aligned. Perfect in every way. A truly remarkable experience.
I've often thought about this song as representing someone who passed away as Syd essentially disappeared from the band only to return to "haunt" them looking like a macabre version of his former self. This particular quieter version of the song has an elegiac quality that makes it appropriate for a funeral/or memorial service. Such a wonderful tribute to their troubled friend.
If ever there was a song written from the heart from one friend to another with the maximum amount of compassion, this was it. This is my favourite version of this song for so many reasons, but the main one has to be it was Rick Wright's last live performance of this timeless classic. Beautiful song.
totally extraordinary, how much he is exposed alone, super amplified, against a stadium sized crowd, smallest move of finger on the strings, smallest vocal sound audible, this man just smashes it. never seen anything near this. a giant.
Simply stunning how these men can hold an audience this size. And the music well it speaks for itself, no words can describe how stirring and memorable this was. Thank you Sir David Gilmour
The culmination of a life’s work, for David, caught perfectly to its core by superbly talented audio and video artists in their own right. Absolutely magical with original saxophonist Dave Parry’s amazing double sax outro. This entire show is more than worth the time.
I recently had the privilege to see him live in Chicago not too long ago. It was just as silent. Everyone was in awe. By far the greatest concert I've ever witnessed
On the turning away, entre outras.
The intro is the ultimate eargasm put on the headphones and see for yourself. never get tired of watching this, especially with the wine glasses-even being played at diff. speeds the glasses are.
And also mine since I was 15. Now nearing my 65TH birthday and don't skip a day without playing some of their gems. You have great taste in REAL music.
for the beautiful syd barrett - such a bittersweet tribute. best blues gilmour trademark EVER. used over and over and over as a trademark riff - comfortably nummmmmmmmmb
reno, i was getting "comfortubly numb" reading your comments living "on an island" and listening to the "echoes" of the sea and "wish you were here" and if you were would we "remember that night" take care my brother!
Thanks mr. Gilmour and mr. Wright !
It's relatively easy to find because You Bloody Tube has removed some of the more fantastic versions of this to either 'comply with 'copywright' or make more adverts possible That said, this is one of the most moving versions I've ever heard. The acoustic instead of electric section is a huge departure from the original and others on here . and very touching.. Particularly in view of Endless River....
That wine glass street performer must of had the time of his life... Gillmore actually hired him from the street, amazing how Dave has the ear for music in everything...
Truly one of the best concert moments on TH-cam. And his lone voice with the light refraction of the camera behind David is absolutely perfect cinematography
I would like to thank every single person who attended this majestic performance. You silence in appreciation of this band is what made this even more enjoyable.

never thought about it ... major comment... Thanks
+Renô Vieira Fo. And of course, thank you for the upload :)
I attended to a Gilmour's show in LA last march and it was the first concert I went where the crowd was quite, as if each one of us were living our own trip. Such a magical experience.
Even at their 1972 concerts I was surprised they played and hypnotized us so much...you could barely hear a pin drop...awe and reverence.
Officially my favorite version of this song.
Mine also .. question is where is it to be found other than youtube?
For example here:
www.empik.com/live-in-gdansk-gilmour-david,prod3240039,muzyka-p
Or here:
play.google.com/store/music/album/David_Gilmour_Live_In_Gdansk?id=Bpczx7nr7yhg6kaowgvtc2enc6a
His whole entire Gdańsk concert is mesmerizing. Also his best Time and On am island performances
Me too. I love the contrast of David's whimsical vocals contrasted with the majesty of the melody. My favorite.
February 2024 time 115 pm iam 80.years old
I like everything they
Play fantastic guitarist 🎸 👏 😢🎉

Its the red strat mate...
@@brianvandernaald9790 Exactly what I was thinking LOL but he still made a great comment :D
The crows is SO silent. They understand the meaning of this song to David and Rick
Syd died the same year
The lonely voice of Gilmour singing this masterpiece accompanied only by his guitar gives me gossebumps. This is the greatest version of this song. It's marvelous.
To sing like that, with just you and your guitar, in front of God and everybody... I've never seen something so powerful.
It's almost like all the people fade away and it's just David and God....
cinderellsworth I assume by "God" you mean Rick
the power of the sound in that huge area ! People standing mesmerised
Mr Gilmour is the Beethoven of our times,
well he is not , most of pink floyd songs before momentary lapse were written and composed by roger waters
Well, "Mr." Fallah. Maybe you should stop being the pseudo intellectual you want to seem to be and stop raining on other peoples OPINIONS !! Maybe you won't have to tie a pork chop to your neck so the dog would play with you.
well :)

Bravo, Snow Rat. My opinion for 40 years.
I love how Mr. Wright's opening notes are so slow and deliberate. It has a certain level of emotion that the faster WYWH version lacks.
8:23 Goosebumps.Incredible voice
How in the f are there 35 people that could possibly dislike this performance?
10 people are definitely 100% tonedeaf. how can anyone dislike this complete masterpiece?
+Robert Kittilsen They're just butthurt that isn't them on stage
They thought it was the download button
Probably they killed themselves for that mistake, Esteban.
It's now 15, out of >262K views, and it's 0.8% of total ratings. By youtube standards, that's nothing short of a miracle.
a true set-in-time masterpiece. and this version of the song is so hard to find online too
David's voice was definitely at its peak during this tour.
This is one of those performances that again shows the moment in every one of davids songs. He captures every bit of resonance from every instrument, never lets it die. The sound just echoes into the next note and amplifies.
+Scott Shaffer Well said. So proud to call this uplifting music the music of my generation. True artistry.
+Scott Wolf Thank you scott hahah. You watch the darkside of oz? Or Metropolis wish you were here sync?
Best version of this story!
+Michael Menei It gives it such a greater melancholic character, no?
Or, of a more prestigious nature. Yes?
Have you heard the Royal Albert hall version? It's amazing, but this version has grown on me.
Syd passed away just 50 days before this was recorded
The glass harmonica at the beginning is fairytale-like. David's solo on his distorted Strat still leaves me speechless.
Shine on you crazy diamonds Syd and Rick! Rest in piece.
I grew up on Pink Floyd since the age of 10 years old in Tehran, Iran. 4 decades later I’m still in love with their music... They broadcasted the sounds and words of another galaxy on earth 🙏❤️
Salute hamvatan!
It's amazing what you can do with an old guitar and a bunch of wine glasses.
Wright looks like an angel in that lighting. It's eerie. A reminder of where he's at right now teaching the real angels about music!
this entire concert IMHO was the pinacle of perfection for mr gilmour and his band. not a note out of place or out of time
i cant put into words my satisfaction of Gilmour playing in my country, and that every minute of concert was recorded, that now i can just put the DVD disc in ROM and fly away...
thank you very much either.
pure musical genius. this is what it sounds like when you were born to create.
To me, this is one of the most beautiful, poignant songs ever made.
Kitty Vaughn thank you very much indeed
He is wringing the very soul out of that strat
I saw your comment, so I knew something was coming. I still got goosebumps. I have never heard Gilmour scream like that...
I’ve had the great fortune to see Floyd and Gilmour live, on many occasions. Other than front row center, for the Pulse tour, this is by far, the concert, where all the stars aligned. Perfect in every way. A truly remarkable experience.
That wasn't an easy sax switch, amazing solos and amazing song!
I was there with my Dad! We were so happy to hear "Echos" live. RIP Rick Wright!

This particular quieter version of the song has an elegiac quality that makes it appropriate for a funeral/or memorial service. Such a wonderful tribute to their troubled friend.
Can you imagine being there? I would die for everyone in this crowd. The collective respect for music is baffling
David Gilmour is, in my opinion, one of the greatest guitarists ever. His feel and tone and vibe and soul are so intense and amazing. Just killer.

Shine on you wine glasses
That was really amazing! A glass of has never sounded so good!
Miss you Richard Wright

Honestly incredible
I'm watching this on 26 August 2018, exactly 10 years!
Legendary masterpiece
8:00 You can feel David grabbing your soul from within. Absolutely lovely.
One of the best songs ever. Shine on SYD.
I recently had the privilege to see him live in Chicago not too long ago. It was just as silent. Everyone was in awe. By far the greatest concert I've ever witnessed
On the turning away, entre outras.

Who the hell would ever give this a thumbs down???
My friends in the 1970's called me a crazy diamond. Here's a big LOVE to all us "different", rebelious, one of a kind, guys.

Thank you for this masterpiece. I will indeed shine on.
Gilmour really just gets better with age.
That wine glass street performer must of had the time of his life... Gillmore actually hired him from the street, amazing how Dave has the ear for music in everything...
I have tears in my eyes
Great comment.. you shine, crazy diamond thomas !!
Cheers.
Rick is great.. he was always great - a pure engineer of pink floyd's sound.
