Renaissance are the pioneers of " New Age Music". Music, Melody and Annie makes this musical group way ahead of their time. Soothing, relaxing are just some words to describe Renaissance. The "Novella" album is still my all time favorite as well as this wonder group
I ran a spotlight for one of her concerts with Renaissance back in 1977. Had never heard of them but they had my attention from the first note that she sang. Tiny lady with a HUGE voice!
Theres plenty of applause thru my Sennheisers. Annie- the Medieval Babe in 1977 and still was in 1990. These musicians are doing her justice though. Her Renaissance 2015 touring now are superb - you'll beleive its an orchestra.
Something gone within her voice....most subdued performance of this song I have heard. At least we know now listening even to the performances from last year that it was just a phase.
I didn't mean to say she is disappointing here in an absolute sense (that's almost impossible for her). But I have heard much better performances of this song, especially the one at Keswick Theater in 2011 which made it to DVD.
That is where I first heard the song too! At the time I had only one Renaissance album, "Novella" and hadn't heard their earlier music. The Blackmore's Night album came out around 1997 and I picked it up without hearing any of the music or even knowing the genre. I was pleasantly surprised. Even more surprising was picking up the Renaissance album with Ocean Gypsy and finding it to be even better sung by Annie.
Brubry12: I guess you're right, although I would have missed it if you hadn't pointed it out, and I sing professionally too. I wouldn't call it a clunker though. Those are the notes that just take you out of the zone. This one didn't seem like a big deal. I think Ms. Haslam has earned the right to an occasional missed note.
Raphael Rudd, look him up and enjoy what you come up with. Admittedly, he was a very expressive player, but there was nothing phony about him at all. He was a goofball off the stage too.
Annie Haslam, greatest female singer ever. End of story. Tina Turner is a close second though! Love Annie she is not a SINGER she is a TRUE MUSICIAN. ABsolutely BRILLIANT.
One of the most underrated and under appreciated singers of all time......Annie is amazing and mesmerizing!!
Five bars in - and already a chill is running down my spine...
And it happens again when she sings those "Ahs" in the instrumental.

È fantastica, come canta e dal vivo . Che musica, altro che quella di adesso. ❤
This song is just so beautiful and what an incredible voice
This song was on a cassette I picked up for $0.99 at a record store in the late 1970's. I fell in love immediately, and it's never waned.
Annie is the VOICE from HEAVEN
They say beauty is only skin deep, but here we have pure beauty from the inside out.
That's what I have said the past 40 years , the most versatile instrument but in Annie's case a god given gift
A beautiful lady with a poetry fantastic. Sublime and a wonderful group. Thank you for the opportunity to meet with you here. Delicious? Pena Gil
Delicious poet. Excellent for being a sublime song. Thank you. You are great and a star near God. I saw you at London. Fantastic. Pena Gil.
I adore this woman.
One of my favorite Renaissance songs! I have always loved this one. Thank you for sharing!
What a great voice. She was never marketed for all her worth.
voice from heaven
A voice like driven snow.

Oh, man. I thought Annie was incredible back in the 70s with Renaissance. She's only gotten better!
The lyricist, Betty Thatcher, who wrote all the lyrics for Renaissance and Haslams solo work, died on September 01, 2011 aged 67.
Sad loss.
Mysterious Squirrel She rode the Carpet Of The Sun. Bless her beautiful soul.
Rest In Peace
I did not know this. Now, Ms. Thatcher's lyrics are for The Ages to savor.
Thank you for the nice file! God bless you!

sorry to hear about Betty. She co-wrote so many beautiful songs with Michael Dunford and earlier with Jim McCarty for Renaissance
Magnífico é pouco para expressar a beleza desta música!
Dude, they just had their minds blown, they're slowly returning to reality. But I know what you mean.
Fantastic....i hoop to see the band in Holland, there are so many fans here from the band
But when????????
How dare u find any fault w this band. They are a living miracle! 8:15
I saw her at the Club Bene and in Montclair, Nj years ago.
great voice

To me, it's another excellent performance. It's hard to be disappointed when she sings.

I only knew this through Blackmore's Night :o

the piano guy sounds like the original recording key for key wow!
severaly underrated
The bright side... this way you can listen to the music jaja
I think I saw the show at the Bottom Line in NYC, I was wondering if there was anything else from that show in full concert form? Please let me know.
Stevie Nicks with a better voice! omg!!!

Anybody know the rest of the band?
What is the deal with the lack of applause from the crowd? Did the chef put sedatives in their food? That's appalling.
I love Annie Haslam and Renaissance, but is it me or does she hit a clunker at 2:13 on the word "gypsy".
Nice harmonies from the guitar player. But that pianist seems to think it's all about him. What a poser.
Raphael Rudd, look him up and enjoy what you come up with.
Admittedly, he was a very expressive player, but there was nothing phony about him at all.
He was a goofball off the stage too.
Wow, forgot how bad hair styles were back then.
Yes, I would hate to press my face against that horrible hair (he says, sarcastically).
Sluggish_ Agonizing to endure (possibly for Haslam and the players, az well). One of THE GREATEST rock balladz, "BUTCHERED", here. Saddening.
