Looking good Neil, you've got those shallow end RnR, just need the commitment to stay on. Anyone remember / skate the Hemel skatepark (with pool, halfpipe and moguls) that was on this site back in the 70's? Very protective locals I recall lol
Thanks, *spolier*: I have actually got a couple of rock n rolls since, you're right though, as ever it was mostly commitment and you have to do it all a lot faster because of how tight it is. I wasn't around for what was there before as i came from much further south about 20 years ago and only started skating again 7 years ago after over 25 years off the board.
@@NeilHesterSkateboarding Yes, knew you were too young which is why I asked if 'anyone' remembered. On the site there was a skate-park, then the ski dryslope expanded (I learned to snowboard on it, but had to argue with the manager to let me on the slope!) Hoped there might be some old timers still out there! lol
Grind over the steps! That big bucket list trick on so many radars! That's a lovely one there. Has decent transition around it. It probably feels whippier than it looks, though. Great video, Neil!! 🔥
Thanks 👍🏻👊🏼 it’s a nice one to learn on, it’s super steep and pretty much vert in about 3.5 to 4ft depth so dropping in is a real whip/whoosh but you get used to it and the steps aren’t too intimidating. There’s a decent boards width above them to give you enough space to roll through if you are not grinding so overall it’s a good training ground.
The shallow end is about 4.5ft with a nice transition, the deep end is about 7 or 8 ft and a little bit of vert so it feels big and you need to go really fast so the two ends aren't very well matched in my humble opinion. I dont really ride it as I like the pool so much, sometimes i ride the shallow end like a miniramp for a bit, theres also a nice super wide mini ramp like the one at Pitt St in Portsmouth if you know the one i mean. Overall its well worth a visit but time it well because it can get quite infested with scooter kids, luckily they aren't allowed in the pool :)
@ I am at Pitt Street quite often. Great park with my favourite curb for board slides. Thinking about going to XC next Monday if the weather is wet. Fingers crossed for a quiet one!
that place looks awesome!
👍I think its going to be a pretty good winter refuge, last year i didn't get much pool skating in over the winter but maybe i will this year.

What’s the other bowl like? This place looks great. A 2 hour drive from Southampton. Very doable 👊🛹❤️

@ cool 👍🏻 Tuesday night is skateboards only and there’s a decent crew of older guys riding the pool. Sunday mornings is good for a pool session too.
