One reason I prefer Vespas over Hammerheads is that the tank is also better on the Cal drone lines. So you have more time to notice that the rats are starting to chew on your drones instead of focusing on the main hull.
Range control is important in these sites, so I set perches around the site and warp in from there. I can usually pick some portion of the structures, or a rock, to warp to in order to immediately get in to a close orbit on the battlecruisers. Once that's sorted, no other enemy can do sufficient damage to run down the DNI's shields. I'm happy using HAMs, however, Javelin-type missiles are also critical to hit the enemies that will kite at 30-40 km. It's been from all of your other videos that I have learned how to run the C3 sites, so please keep them coming!
I agree, sometimes HAM Javelin can be superior to Heavy Missiles. Maybe not raw dps output but applied damage that the enemy takes can be higher. The way I look at it is with HAM you can start fighting with Javelin then as the enemy gets closer swap over to Rage and watch the enemies melt before your eyes. I cant remember the last ship I ran heavies on for more than 1 fight to test, unless you count the RHML's I ran on my Rattlesnake.
God I want that ship... Missiles, drones and shields are my jam! That ship looks great, hopefully me and my drake can farm enough C3's to get the money for two! Never fly something you can't afford to loose.
I think what I’m excited about the most is that the new ships will be used by the null blocks in vast numbers. And blueprints will be farmed. Which means automatic content with insurgencies and it attracts the best farmers. A very good expansion that will be hard to beat.
One suggestion, this is a decent Omni tank (good for pvp and sleepers), but when fighting specific rats you should fit for the particular rats you are fighting, for example maximize kinetic tank vs Guristas or Thermal vs Serpentis, etc. I cant get into the game yet (slow internet and a 4GB update), but this ship is going to be a total beast. Put 2 deadspace Kinetic resistance modules on that, you'll have resists in the 90%+ range when fighting Guristas. As I posted below, I used to run passive regen tanks on the Gila and Rattlesnake but when I discovered how effective a high hp/resistance tank is I never looked back. BTW, so nice to see someone finally not fit tons of cap modules or a DCU II on a PVE shield tank ship. :P
Good job on explaining the choice of going with the Paint on the fit as I almost commented on the benefits of using the guidance computer instead haha. Admittedly, I kinda hate using a paint as the damage time delay from drones and missiles can make it a bit of a pain to always keep it active on the target that is being damaged, especially if you are splitting damage.
The Sleepers will attack with an energy beam dealing EM and Thermal damage and firing light, heavy or cruise missiles (depending on the class of the Sleeper ship), dealing Explosive and Kinetic damage. You should fit to tank all four types of damage (a so-called 'omnitank'). You can translate this to sleepers doing omni damage.
It is NOT Omni damage since different anomalies have different compositions where some are more missiles or turrets, and the Sleeper weapons affect different ships differently. And yes, that's why the Alligator here has fairly balanced resists.
@@captainbenzie The wiki.eveuniversity site specifically qualifies sleeper damage as omni damage. Everyone else qualifies sleeper damage as omni damage. The fact that some of the damage types do a % less than others doesnt mean it does not qualify as omni damage anymore. It does.

As someone who lives in Wormholes, there are some ships I can fly with very low EM/Thermal resist since they simply do not get hit by the turrets in the sites.

I could also see that this ship is capable to do comfortably some of the L4 Anomic Base missions as well with this kind of DMG and passive Tank capailities. Maybe even one hull for all of them with only some fitting adjustments. That would be really handy because right now I need a different ship for each anomic base mission... annoying.
I don't understand the passive shield fit on this & the Drake. Wouldn't an active fit provide more EHP & a more active playstyle? It'd also mean you can fly less blingy mods & have a cheaper killmail. Is it something to do with capacitor usage or stability?
Exactly that. Capacitor usage. With passive, you're guaranteed that recharge. With active, you're fucked if you run out of capacitor (and shield active is heavy on capacity)
I've run a buffer fit (high ehp/resists) on my Gilas and Rattlesnakes for ages, I imagine on the Gator it will be just as insane. Buffer fit might not have the raw regen a passive tank has but when the EHP is double or triple that of the passive fit you have the advantage of raw HP. Remember, resistances also effect regen as it compares to incoming DPS. If you have 90% resists and a regen of 10 hp/s that equates to 100 dps that needs to be done to you to cause any loss of hp. When you get over 90% resists in your rat specific damage type you pretty much unlock 'easy mode'.
im interested to see just what the Aralez med drone is as it looks like a place holder at the moment with the stats of t2 vespa but nice video i can see with hydra or nivana implants this ship will be a great all round highsec event ship

I'm still new to the game, and I've only run a couple wormholes (in my Probe) so I might be wrong, but isn't wormhole space a free-for-all basically? I was in a Probe with a bit over 80mil in my cargo, and still kept pinging my d-scan every few seconds in paranoia that someone would jump me. How can you stay so chill, flying a 1.7bil fit, and staying in a combat site until you're down to 40% hull? also, I gotta say I agree on the short-range thing being more fun. I was running abyss comfortably in my missile Talwar, but it was also boring, so I switched to rockets and now every fight is exciting. I'm barely keeping up with those things, even with my mwd avtive, but I've done a few dozens of em without losing the ship once.
you cant do anything when someone jumps you anyways even small ships will most likely bring friends to kill you. Check D-Scan and leave as soon a name pops up in it and fly to your safe spot and hide. log out when NPC Timer runs off. Wormhole is a little bit more safe than low/null for me, since nobody can see names in local unless u decide to chat for some reasons...
I stay calm because I'm used to it. I have corpmates nearby with eyes on connecting holes, I'm D-Scanning frequently, and I've learned not to panic. You just react when you see the issue - kinda like how a fire drill is supposed to help you calmly evacuate. I've done it so many times now that even getting actively jumped is a calm response 😅 Agreed with the Talwar thing, I love the more exciting actually flying around and brawling!!
you know CCP could of gone stingy with making people use omega clones im really glad they allowed faction ships to be piloted by Alpha clones so the free 2 play people can still be competitive with T2 ships
Pasif shield aswell,... Olso if shield below 25% there is a chance for dmg to bypass your shield and hit armor (not talking about actif shield) let a mate shoot you to 25% shield and time how long it takes to get to 40% olso take the time from 85 to 100
@@captainbenzie Shield regen does this as well. The max regen is at 30% just like capacitor. I have had many fights in my passive shield tank ships where I was hovering around 30% or so for a while, I've only been flying passive shield tank ships since way before the drake was nerfed.
Have you looked at the Khizriel? It doesn't really look anything like ships we've seen before! I believe this is just a reskinned Drake because it fits with the lore of the Guristas, none of their ships look different that your standard ships outside of being a slightly different color! Outside of that new ships will slowly get added as they always have.
i wish it was a gurista ferox instead. i want missiles and drones on a ferox hull so badly. i also think the gursita destroyer and battlecruiser should of just had 1 extra drone. so 3 instead of 2.
@@captainbenzie i think its more because of the bonuses and loadout, people use it because its good, rather than people liking that things looks. guitarists always do the opposite of what the navy does.. Hence the missile Moa and Scorpion hulls. The battlecruiser SHOULD HAVE BEEN a ferox hull, and the destroyer should have been the cormorant hull. if we ever got a guristas raven it should have been railguns, and the rokh should have been missiles.
just a note, it makes absolutely no sense for the Gallente bonus to be to missiles? Gallente bonus should be to something Gallente, like drones. /shrug

And there's plenty of gallente-themed stuff they could apply. I dont really see the reason for an alligator. The drake navy is just as strong but with more missile damage and less drone damage. And it also can use rapit light and mjolnir/nova
yes i didnt had 2 things in mind. the alligator has 4% resistence per skill the dni not (the normal drake has it). and for dps it was the same for me because of skills. my caldari bc is 5 my gallente only 3. and the shield ammount is the same but the alligator has 5 more passive regeneration(base value). so as usual in eve its like 4-5x price and 10-20% better@@captainbenzie
@@daveisnothere not more powerful for sure. Tengu doesn't hit the same DPS as the Gator can, has lower tank too. I love the Tengu, and it's a valid option for C3 ratting - but it's all personal preference 😊

You can run a drake solo in c3 it takes pretty good tank and very high tank and is slow

Very different. Alligator is a damage powerhouse but not as tanky as the Nighthawk.

That's how it is on all of the Guristas ships. I think it's due to the hardpoints being originally of Gallente design

Drake Navy doesn't have the same shield or as much potential DPS.

My alligator got 300 hp/s passif with 500dps an 75k ehp not able to do that with drake or dni (its basically a bigger ishktar)
