    I have the shorter version from Sparrow's. I keep it with me, but haven't used it. The cutouts look like the old Slim Jim, that used to work on car door locks by sliding down the window glass & manipulating the door lock rod.

      I've looked at the mini version. I've never tested it on a car lock rod. Should try it at a car wrecking joint. 👍🤘🖖🍻

    Nice demo!
    Btw you can do the same thing with any x-ray plate by cutting the right angle and also work on automotive locks :D

      Thank you mate. Didn't know that x-ray plate works. 👍🤘🖖🍻

    This won't work on most outer doors or lockable office doors, because they have dead latches. There is a little square of metal right after the spring latch that when depressed prevents the spring latch from being retracted. Plus, even if the latch plate was misaligned and not depressing the dead latch then I'd still use a Traveller's Hook instead of this thing.

    • @DarkArtsLockPicking
      @DarkArtsLockPicking  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I have both a travelers hook and the jim. Also the use of a pump wedge helps to release the guard latch/ dead latch if used correctly. 👍🤘🖖🍺

      A Three Dog Night , it don't work near as easy as people on TH-cam make it look. It just don't fit past any of my doors to hook the latch.

    One of the tiny pocket-sized spray cans of WD-40 with the tiny plastic nozzle, and a couple of mls into the gap just above the latch first will really help that Jim to slide around the curve of the latch and push it in. It's actually the Newtonian reaction of the Jim up against the door jamb that applies the force that pushes the latch back. If the door jamb weren't there (try it on an open door) the Jim does nothing on its own. The frame/jamb is essential. Also, if the door opens the other way, then you use the half moon on the end and PUSH the Jim against the latch. That may necessitate slipping the Jim in behind the beading around the door frame, which the door closes onto. In that case, try a couple of drops of the WD-40 on the Jim itself, as you won't get it into the door gap.

      Cool I always have a tin of WD-40 or silicon spray. Will test it next time. Cheers mate 👍🤘🖖🍻

    Great review, I made something similar to the sparrows hall pass and carry it in my wallet, never know when it might come in handy! One tip I have is, when you are trying to slip the latch, I always jiggle the door to try and release some of the binding between the latch and the striker, works a dream!

    Sparrows makes some high quality stuff. I have a lot of it, but this is a high quality useless piece of junk in the US. I can slip a card in faster than this piece of metal, and can probably pick the dang lock faster than that. It just dont work for me.

      That they do mate. Yeah it does have its limitations on what it will work on and like all tools some people like it more then others. 👍🤘🖖🍻
