I love how Sydney talked about giving thanks to the doctors, themselves, etc, when something good happens instead of God. I've started doing that with my family. They don't know I've deconstructed, but I'm so tired of them relying on God for everything.
First time I really did it, my sister's family was really struggling financially, and they were approved for a pilot program in CA that sets their pg&e bill at a low, flat rate for the next 4yrs. Super helpful! My mom started thanking and praising God, and started looking up who started the program (subtly pointing out that it's a leftist policy😂) and mentioning how we should appreciate who put those kinds of policies in place and remember when we vote in the future so we can protect those kind of programs...I said it's great to be grateful for the good fortune that they were selected for the program, but also pointed out that the help didn't just materialize, it came from policy choices. Their reaction was very awkward but they couldn't argue.
I really think the religious habit is thanking God for everything has contributed to low self esteem, at least within my family. Praying and waiting for God to fix things, then only giving him credit when they finally do take action and fix things themselves, has really skewed their view of what they're capable of.

@@LM-ur7hp People have authority over each other all the time. The Judge in a courtroom has authority over every in the court room. A boss has authority over employees.
If you mean a man shouldn't have authority over a woman because he is a man, and a woman shouldn't have authority over a man because she is a woman I agree, but to say a person should never have authority over someone else because they have the wrong genders is wrong.

How petty of god to demand, “Believe I died for you or else . . . “

    • @kriss3d
      @kriss3d 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Well. He died Friday afternoon and was gone Sunday morning so. It's more like a little over a day he sacrificed. It's not like he died or anything. Just the body of him.
Not much of a sacrifice really.
Theists loves to paint it as if he did something great - even assuming the Bible was true.

@@kriss3d Yes, you and I are right on the same page here. I usually refer to it as a 48 hr. not so very sacrifice.
Further, I ask whether it was simply his human avatar that was crucified, in which case there was no god sacrifice, not even a mere 48 hr one.
If, on the other hand, it was Jesus as god who was crucified and died, then he's not immortal, so why call him a god?

Like Paul wasn’t a misogynist. There’s enough in his letters to show he was a spiteful, bitter, vindictive little troll. Women weren’t good for much in his estimation, but their money was good enough for his “greatest hits” tour.

Great questions, I'll share my thoughts.
I think that when Paul paul Adam was not deceived, he meant not fooled by the devil, an outsider. Adam trusted his wife, a familiar. Eve, on the other hand, trusted a complete stranger.
    2. Paul was definitely sexist. As it was the norm back them. I don't think every one of his opinions ought to be taken as fact.
That being said, I'm unaware of he said these things as a interpreter of God or if he was just sharing his opinion. Thats what it depends on.

That trashy mouthed guy at (19:00) is kinda right in the sense that we’re all gods….with the massive caveat that this god people are referring to, is basically their own subconscious. This is why this god always seems to acknowledge your needs (like passing an exam, or doing better in athletics)….and this is why you somehow miraculously know what this god wants of you.
But what puzzles me is how this people (especially the ones who have cancer, lost limbs etc) ask this god for the obvious request yet no limbs get regrown, or the ones with cancer, it never seems to go away.
If I had to worship a god, it would be the sun. Everything depends on our Sol.
