I've been using Doctors Best Benfotiamine 150mg 4 xday for several months, plus I take 1500mg of ReMag (best magnesium I've ever used -highly bioavailable). I took it hoping it would help with cellular energy (atp cycle) and gut motility, and neuropathy. I think it has helped some with the neuropathy, but haven't noticed improvement in the other issues. I'm also taking riboflavin, molybdenum, niacin and others for about 4 months. I could be the dose (600mg /day) is insufficient. I may take a break from all supplements for a few weeks, except for electrolytes, to see what happens. My RBC and WBC have been low for awhile and actually worsened at my last blood test. I eat mostly a carnivore diet with mostly beef. Niacin really does lower BP. I had to back off because I was getting dizzy.

Six months to a year after a thyroid lobectomy for papillary thyroid carcinoma and subsequently becoming hypothyroid (2 major stresses!), I began having what appeared to be a host of unrelated symptoms, including severe fatigue, gastric reflux that did not correlate with stomach contents and persistent muscle cramping in the feet and toes. The cramping lasted for up to 40 minutes at a time, did not respond to efforts to increase electrolytes, and was followed by some numbness. My internist discovered a low plasma thiamine level and recommended 100 mg Thiamine HCl/day. I followed directions, but thanks to your videos, also ordered a bottle of TTFD and have switched to this. I'm happy to report a complete cessation of those terrible cramps--they never returned--and a lessening of both the GERD and the fatigue. Thank goodness I've been on a low carb (ketogenic) diet, or it might have even been worse! Will continue to use this product for at least a year and wish to express my deep gratitude for this education.

Hello Elliot, did you already make a video presentation about neuropsychiatric disorders and thiamine deficiency? You talked about it in this video but O can’t seem to find it yet. You are amazing, the way you educate us is beyond anything. So thank you so much!

This is very informative I have had these symptoms for about 20 years and have been diagnosed with idiopathic peripheral neuropathy in my feet. Or should I say misdiagnosed, dr,s don’t look outside the box so to speak but what I have found is most conditions can be related to insufficient dietary intake and supplements. I have already benefited from this supplementation and restoring sensation in my feet that have been numb and painful for approval 20 years. Thanks for the information it’s been a godsend. Dave
A lot of us have the triple threat of Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos, which brings Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome. They bring pain, fatigue, and neurological issues, among other things. Many of us are adrenergic. Thiamine sounds potentially huge for us.

Great presentation Elliot. The take home message is, EAT YOUR BACON. On a keto or keto carnivore diet the RDI requirements of thiamine are half compared to someone on a glycolytic diet. Matrix metalloproteinases 9 is inhibited and regulated by retinol, the animal form of vitamin A.
WOW! Again it becomes so clear WHY Low Carb/Zero Carb - High FAT/Protein is crucial to keep your body healthy. Unfortunately in my case: Cannot do bacon nor bone broth due to histamine intolerance (possible MCAS) - but hoping to correct this, by a higher intake of thiamine. MCAS/Fibro/CFS - very similar symptoms like Thiamine Deficiency...

This video just seemed to connect all the dots for me. From my MS to digestive issues and everything in between! Wow how do I get my doctor to watch this and learn something themselves?
I was thinking the same. I have been diagnosed with MS but I have a very mild form so far that is two relapses in 3.5 years which did not even leave me with long term impairments and now I am approaching my 4th diagnosis birthday and I have been wondering quite some time whether it is really MS what might be my problem from time to time. Do they only want to label you with something where they can push drugs onto you, maybe for the rest of your life, while still always saying they do not even know what causes "MS". I often think they do know but want to make it sound mysterious and complex. But maybe it is just correcting some deficiencies and applying some lifestyle changes. Which I do. They still try to persuade into a longterm therapy but I am doing very good without it and might look further into thiamine next.

She lost a lot of weight in hospital from 100 lbs to currently@ 80lbs if been feeding her non stop and she loves to eat that I'm thankful for. In fact she eats more now than before this happened. Elliot thank you again for ur Wisdom I'm also treating my husband severe diarrhea caused him to lose between 45 lbs in a short amount of time hospital couldn't find a reason for it I'm convinced now it all has to do with the vagus nerve stress and the vitamin b1 deficiency which in his case was brought on by a achalasia diagnosis many years ago. Now in the last several months we walked through his blood pressure dropping and him passing out and again I'm thoroughly convinced this is part of the vagel nerve and vitamin b1 deficiency. Elliot any thoughts I would greatly embrace ... I want to give him potassium as I suggest but not sure bcuz of blood pressure...

I' ve also heard that Allithiamine and Lipothiamine or even Benfothiamine will do a better job of crossing blood brain barrier to quickly get thiamine to a brain starved of thiamine.
Guuseh Benfotiamine does not cross the blood brain barrier. Read “Thiamine Deficiency, Dysautonomia, and High-Calorie Malnutrition” by Lonsdale and Marrs
Sulbutiamine and Thiamine tetrahydrofurfyl cross the blood brain barrier. Dr Lonsdale has treated children on the spectrum with thiamine with great success.

Elliot thank you for another wonderful informative video. I've had so much value and benefit from what you have written and said and am so glad I found you. What dosage of Thiamine supplements do you recommend for deficiency symptoms? Do you think a nose-to-tail carnivore diet contains enough Thiamine to correct a deficiency or are supplements required and for how long?
An ordinary mind without any vitamin deficiencies would find it challenging to comprehend this lecture. The technical terms are difficult to grasp and absorb, making this lecture more suitable for medical students.
I disagree. You need to take responsibility for freely shared information like this. You can pause the video and look up what you don’t understand. Some of the information (like the Oxidative Stress pathway) was quite involved, yet his main points are understandable. You can also slow down the video to have more time to absorb. Try harder.
A few years back I had some strange symptoms. For about 18 months I had horrible constipation, to the point where I could be in the bathroom for 2 hours at a time. The doctors were useless and didn't help me. Apart from a general malaise, my left eye would sometimes go into a spasm and I had a weird tingling at the ends of my fingers. I would also feel restless and would have horrible phases of intense vomiting. In addition to this I was extremely irritable, and had angular cheilitis quite badly. When I bought a very high-strength B-complex liquid that was particularly high in thiamine, the symptoms eased off within 2 weeks and have never returned! (I have been using it since). I know 100% that there had to had been a deficiency. It cannot be coincidental that things resolved after I started supplementing! One thing I really remember is how all the "fast talk" / small print read out at the end of adverts on the radio used to make me so furious! The only issue I have these days is dry eyes, so I am going to look at potential thiamine dosing to see if this makes a difference there.
I hope you're doing better & possibly taking thiamine. Which liquid b complex did you buy? I need a good one & I'm going to get Elliot's ttfd...I bought Benfotiamine but it's not enough. Thank you.

Actually removing grains eliminates a cause of thiamine deficiency! I fell asleep in this video last night so im not all sure what it entailed.. But I have learned the cleaner you eat, the less you need. A standard diet required so much because a lot is wasted, or it's crappy ingrediwnts people cant use well..vit d2 vs d3 for example. I need to try this and have been curious since seeing a lady talk about taking b50 supplement on high intensity health podcast.. Maybe her name is sandra. I can find it for you...
This is wonderful news. 🥓 🥓
Please don’t spread this message as a be-all, end-all/applies to everyone sort of thing. Those of us with the APOE4 gene should NOT consume large amounts of meat, if any at all. It greatly increases our risk of heart disease, Alzheimer’s, dementia and other diseases.

I understand food comes first for bioavailability, but what is the best Thiamin supplement available?
Thank you.

Are you eating a plant based diet - oxalates? Or any carbs? You need to stop that too.
I also have these symptoms and had lived in mold for decades... But these symptoms mostly became pronounced after using adaptogenic herbs and bioidentical HRT (estrogens) all of the sudden.
