@Pints With Aquinas, don't take for granted what Dr Harrelson is saying about southeastern Ky. He's dead on. Theres a protestant church on every corner... but Catholic churches are few and far between. I too live in southeastern Kentucky... and I'm in the process of trying to cut myself a path to the Catholic Church. It has been difficult. There's one Catholic church in my area, and I want to start RCIA as quickly as possible. I've devoured basically everything Catholic I can find on youtube, and I thank God for channels like this, people like Dr Taylor Marshall, and also Exorcist priests I've found on youtube like Fr Carlos Martins, Bishop James Long, Fr Vince Lampert, Msgr. Stephen Rossetti, Fr Dan Reehil, etc. Unfortunately I don't quite have the support Dr Harrelson does, , I'm kind of more on my own. Like Dr Harrelson I grew up in the Church of God. Unlike him, I ended up becoming disillusioned with it, because unlike most, I actually started to study the scriptures. What I found in them, didn't really fit with much of what I was hearing from behind Church of God pulpits. I too wanted more... and when I began to find all these Catholics on youtube, I QUICKLY began to understand that all of the horrible things I had heard about Catholicism all my life, was all WRONG, and all came from a place of fear and ignorance. Sadly, WILLFULL ignorance. I don't mean that in a disrespectful sense... but rather from the literal sense... They just don't know what they don't know. My mother has lost her mind after I told her I wanted to become Catholic. Her exact words were "You are WAY out in left field now"... My response was, No Mom, I think maybe the problem is that you guys have been way out in left field for far too long. As I began to learn about the Catholic church from actual Catholics, they knocked down every single thing that the Protestantism had taught us about Catholicism, one by one, and things suddenly began to make SO much sense. I thank God for people like Matt... Who is bringing the truth of the church to those of us who never had the opportunity to learn it. So, Thank you kind sir! :)

@PintsWithAquinas About an hour and 20 minutes into the podcast Alan is dead right. Back in April I watched your interview with Steve McCaig, and after hearing his treaty of the Marian Dogmas I decided to join the Catholic Church. I'm starting OCIA this September. I credit St Benedict, Steve McCaig, Ethan Dolan, and you Matt for bringing me into the Church, and so many have come to the Church from your ministry.

My grandparents owned a bakery in a village in Germany. In the 1950ies, the people living there were still living like in the 19th century. My grandmother told me that she would meet kinds of people that you just don't meet today anymore.
One particular customer she told me about was an old man that had lost all of his teeth but one. On that tooth, he would hang his pipe with a thread and so every time he talked, the pipe would bounce up and down. I was reminded of this anecdote while listening to the stream.

Years later they still do not prefer it, but they understand that I want to follow Christ and hopefully see a man who is true Christ and his convictions. Prayers for you and your family.

The conversations about slowing down and spending time in contemplation, combined with what Thursday said on yesterday's stream about the inner monolog being replaced by other people; it got me to realize that my severe ADD is a great blessing in many ways I never expected. My own inner monolog and its ability to send me into deep thought regardless of the external events, I once felt was a curse in the classical school setting. Now I realize that it has contributed to creativity and an ability to continue to think for myself uninterrupted. Good show and good guest.
