I am a Mormon and I have joined with my local RCIA. I really agree with Stephen on the need to focus on Historical Christianity in order to see the problems in the LDS faith while also moving into the Catholic Church. That's exactly what my experience was, and Pints With Aquinas has been a huge help to me on my journey. Thanks for all that you guys do!
I’m a former SDA and I see lots a similarly with the LDS faith! It’s really crazy and interesting… I’m now an Orthodox Christian but coming the learn historical Christianity is what opened my heart to the SDA heretical beliefs- and I would agree completely: know your Christian history! 😊
I praise God every day that in November of 2023, I finally left the Mormon Church and came back home to my Catholic faith after being away for over 35 years, who welcomed me back with open arms!!! Thank you, Lord!!!
I was raised South Baptist. I have 4 generations of grandpas that are/were pastors. My husband and I have had a conviction and was pulled to the Catholic faith. The more research we do, the more everything is starting to make sense. We will be starting the RCIA soon! We are so excited for our journey into the Catholic community. God is good and so is this podcast!! Thank you!
I was raised Mormon, had a lot of doubts theology wise off and on. Became very devout, was in a Bishopric, temple worker, etc. Then I went through an uber Mormon phase where I did a deep dive on Mormon history and flirted with Mormon fundamentalism. This caused me to realize it isn't what it claims to be (restored ancient Christianity). I left and was a very convinced protestant for a number of years before reading myself into the Catholic Church (Latin Mass) about 15 years ago. Thank you ECF, Hilaire Belloc, and Bishop Sheen!
Hello. This is Stephen from the episode. I would be very interesting in hearing more about your story and possibly collaborating on a book project I am working on. If your interested we can exchange contact info. Let me know. God bless.
Thank you so much for this wonderful exchange-my husband and I learned so much! After 20 years as Mormon converts, we are now practicing Catholics. We are really excited to see part two!
Same bro. My stint in atheism/agnostic was very brief and just due to feeling lonely after years of feeling rejected in multiple wards, both family and YSA. Ironically it was online meme groups that inspired me to humble myself and find truth within the true church.
@@georgerafa5041 The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is God's and Jesus Christ one and only true church here on earth. _" just due to feeling lonely after years of feeling rejected in multiple wards, both family and YSA"_ The natural man is an enemy to God and always has been and that includes depression and the like. I am really looking forward to seeing part two! My husband and I became Catholic in our 50s, so after we had raised our children. Our son married a Mormon girl, and they have seven children. Our granddaughter, (their oldest) is going on a mission in about two weeks. She has had ups and downs with her faith but after a semester at BYU, she decided to go on a mission. She confided to me a couple of days ago that she was still struggling and actually wondering if God was real. She told me she had not said anything to anyone else about this. I passionately told her that I fully believe and know that God is real and also that Jesus is real. I told her many many people much smarter than I believe in God and Christ. It is so hard to know what to say. I have never tried to convert my grandchildren as I am quite certain their mother would restrict my presence in their lives. I couldn’t blame her as she is a 100% devout Mormon. My granddaughter told me what I said helped her. Of course I don’t want to help her into going on a mission, but I certainly want her to believe in God and Christ! Please pray for her.
Dear @Happycatholic389, seems to me you did just right! Staying in your granddaughter's life is more important than trying to fill her head with the Truth of the Catholic faith it seems to me. I did not always feel this way. I have made plenty of mistakes, trying to be the one who converts others, when God Himself is the One -- the only One -- Who grants the grace of conversion. The best we can do is to accompany those we love and be there when they are open to hearing our words. And what we who are farther away will do is to pray for you and your family!
I am praying she stays … I will pray and fast for her safety…. She must focus on Jesus’ red letters. Give her a Gideon New Testament to tuck in her sack. Dedicate it to her inside the cover.. she will turn to the word in times of trouble or suffering…when not if..🙏🏻🤫
Lest you wait until they are adults to drip on their empty faith, away from mom, or lose them all. This video is a great start. Most protestant religions are the same hollow, easy way to believe, definitely not the narrow path Jesus described.
Speaking as a Catholic Christian, thank you Stephen for this interview. And for all of our LDS Brothers and Sisters watching this who are discerning the Catholic Faith, I am praying for you. The ancients had a saying and it still holds true today - “All roads lead to Rome.” Mother Church will be waiting for you, no matter how long it takes for you to get there. God Bless and keep you.
I know this was meant to be a kind comment, and dont get me wrong, it was. But we should be careful with our language. Mormons are not separated brethren, they arent Christian.
They with ears to hear, let them hear: Through the Holy Spirit, God has put it on me to preach to those lost in the devil's deceit! Hear me when I say, ye that are Catholic have been deceived and know not God. Ye worship Mary, praying to her; when God tells his to worship none other than him. It is idolatry. Catholicism has its own Bible and teachings, which are blasphemous to the word of God: the Holy Bible. As ye follow the teachings of man and not God; ye hear the pope, but not Jesus, yet ye claim to be his disciples! These are but a few things I named ye dwell within; there are many more. I tell you now to repent of your sins, accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and you'll receive the gift of the Holy Spirit upon asking the Father! There are *NO* sub-divisions of Christianity. You're either a disciple of Christ or not. A Christian is someone who follows God's word, not a religion. Who obey the Father and follow his will; not man's nor their own heart's. Unless you keep Jesus' commandments, think not the Holy Spirit will dwell within you! They who heed this message and did what was stated with an open heart to God... Read the Holy Bible (KJV) daily and every time before you read, pray to the Father and ask: "Lord I ask that you give me understanding of your word, that I interpret it the way you want me to, and none of my own. I ask you in Jesus' name, amen." Revelation 22:8-9 KJV 8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. 9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God. Acts 2:38 KJV 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Luke 11:13 KJV 13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9 *Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.* 10 *In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God,* neither he that loveth not his brother.
@@Call_Upon_YAHI have to tell you the Catholic mass PRE DATES THE BIBLE. The apostolic fathers had the mass before the Gospels were even in existence. You have to know this. Early Catholic Bishops and priests in council with early Christian communities decided on the actual CANON OF the Bible. And we do NOT worship saints or Mary we venerate them- there is a difference
The kindness shown towards Mormons in this comment section is unlike anything I've ever seen before on a religious podcast. Matt definitely has one of the best audiences. I can also say that among the makers and viewers of Mormon youtube channels there is a strong positive sentiment toward the Catholic faith (and Matt Fradd in particular). Many of the younger, dedicated LDS (myself included) are seeking content relevant to a more orthodox version of their religion, and channels like these certainly inspire them to pursue truth in a good philosophical manner.
While I appreciate that sentiment, I also think it is inconsistent with believing that our faith is an abomination. I am very discouraged by how two-faced Mormonism is on this matter.
@@benabaxter I think there is a difference in believing that some of the doctrines of the faith are an abomination v. the faith as a whole (including the believers). Mormonism does not posit that the entire faith is an abomination, but rather the creeds and some doctrine as ratified by early councils. I would say that every religion or denomination thinks that the teachings of others are abominable, or else we would not have the differences. Other organizations may just use softer language in describing the difference. I'm sorry if you ever felt hated or like an abomination from my religion. You are not, nor are the rest of the faithful Christians out there. If our desire to understand and work with other faiths seems two-faced, then I'll take that smear any day and still work with you so long as neither of us succumb to the captivity of secular leftist evil.
I've never been told as a Catholic "you shouldn't ask that question" by a priest, family member or any other fellow Catholic. That was one of many things that helped me stay Catholic in a time of doubt when I wasn't well educated on the faith yet. Catholics never seemed afraid of questions and in-fact encouraged them. Any doubts in my youth, and there were plenty, were always met with positive praise.
Yes but intellectual sins exist. Curiosity for it’s own sake, especially with matters against faith and morals, is a sin even if it’s just learning about it. Similarly, spending your time trying to understand complex theology when you haven’t read the catechism or don’t have a daily prayer routine could be a sin.
@@imjustheretogrill9260 I'm not sure what point you're trying to make so I'll just clarify and maybe we agree. True curiosity for it's own sake, devoid of motives and objective reasoning is something only the mind of perhaps a toddler might achieve and therefor not a sin. If curiosity is tied to motivations that deliberately go against faith and morals then it would by definition not be for "it's own sake" and therefor sinful. Learning how to cause harm with a malintent is of course as sin. Learning how harm is caused to avoid it or to protect those in harms way is not a sin. The second part gets back to intent and motive. People are lead to God in different ways. Many atheists and protestants start with higher form theology long before getting near the catechism or developing a daily prayer or scripture routine. This is not sinful. However, if someone is learning how to defeat a high level theological argument without the desire to grow closer to God, or to will the good of the other, then yes this is probably sinful behavior.
On the other hand: “Am I not able to write to you about heavenly things? Yet I am afraid to do so lest, being infants, I should harm you. Yet allow me this, as otherwise you might choke, being unable to swallow. For even I, whilst in bondage and able to understand heavenly matters, the disposition of the angels and the hierarchies of the rulers, visible and invisible, am not yet a disciple.” (Ignatius, ca. 110, To the Trallians 5.1-2, in Popular Patristics 49.59)
My aunt and her kids are Mormon. My aunt specifically converted from Catholicism to Mormonism through her husband. They are wonderful people and have even encouraged me to visit the temple in my town. I've been wanting to understand their religion better in order to dialogue with them, so I'm greatly appreciative of this interview. I continue to pray for their conversion to Catholicism.
I know it's off topic, but it confuses me - is YT behind this or what, but I don't see "show more" under your comment just three dots and it seems your post in not really finished after "to pray for their..." - or is it?
Wonderful discussion! Stephen is very articulate and explained everything that I couldn’t explain well back in 2005. I was a Mormon convert from 17-20 yrs old, left when I met my now husband. Which we later converted to Catholicism in 2018 with my husband and daughter. Thank you all for taking the time to cover this.

My best friend growing up was Mormon. We always respected and slightly understood each other’s faiths because in the South there weren’t many of us (Mormons and Catholics) and each of our faiths compared to the southern baptists or mega church Protestants around us were “strict” comparatively. She recently has left the Mormon faith and is in her “agnostic” period- I’m praying one day she opens up to Catholicism. ❤
Really appreciate his gentle handling of exposing the roots of Mormonism. Most people would carry a bitter cynicism after such an experience and there is none of that within him. Very admirable.
I was LDS for years . . . served in the Bishopric, on the Stake High Council, etc. Studying the history of the LDS Faith, outside of the whitewashed, sunday school version, opened my eyes. My wife and I left the Church in 2008 and started attending a local Protestant Church. We began studying the history of Christianity and made our way through Orthodoxy and into the Catholic Church. We could not be happier.
@@dboan6847 so the crusades, the church's role in the enslavement of native Americans, Christians' role in using the Bible as a justification for slavery and racism, witch trials, etc don't make you rethink that belief? How are you not engaging in special pleading?
The difference is the key word I used . . . "Foundation". It is the claims the LDS Church makes regarding its foundation of the Mormon Church that cause me to believe that it is false.
Wow! This comment section is filled with so many kind words towards the LDS faith. I am LDS but have a massive respect for the Catholic faith and love having inter faith dialogue. I was born and raised a faithful practicing LDS member, then softly fell away in college to be a 'spiritual not religious' and later I found the Catholic church in 2014 and was so excited for my baptism Easter Vigil 2015. It was when my new life in Christ began. Selfishly, I am going to bookmark this episode to share, because sometimes I never get to express my Catholic faith because the person I am with is so interested in finally getting their 'Mormon questions' answered. Sometimes I will say "I grew up in a different denomination" so I can skip the inquisition. So THANK YOU Stephen, and I will be using your words to save mine 😂 This didn't get touched on until the Q+A section, but I absolutely cannot overstate the necessity of presenting and sharing early Church History. The entire LDS faith system rides on the Great Apostasy, and the years between the Apostles and Joseph Smith are relegated to 1-2 sentences in Sunday School lessons. *This* is a GREAT place for interesting, engaged, and edifying conversation! Lastly, I just want to note what an impact your military service had. My husband is a medic in the Army and (by the grace and good humor of God) I work for the Archdiocese for the Military Services as a Missionary Discipleship Trainer (hilarious as I am the only child of 7 who did not serve an LDS mission). Jesus draws many hearts to Him from those who are serving their nation. And lastly for real - if there are any Mormons reading this, especially those in the military, who want to talk about the spiritual movements they are working through - I would love to listen and pray together.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is God's and Jesus Christ one and only true church here on earth. _"and the years between the Apostles and Joseph Smith are relegated to 1-2 sentences in Sunday School lessons."_ Would you like me to explain it to you with more than a couple of sentences? Because the Great Apostasy can very easily be proven and shown. It can also be shown by history that the Catholic authority claims are false. _"The entire LDS faith system rides on the Great Apostasy"_ LOL That is false. We "ride" on the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, the prophets since Joseph Smith and those doctrines and our fruits.
While LDS are great people, and I have only had good experiences with them, they are not Christians as they don't follow the Nicene Creed and don't really believe in the Trinity (alongside their acknowledgement of multiple Gods and God the father being contingent).

I spent 27 years as a member of the LDS Church. I served in Bishoprics, Stake High Councils and many other leadership callings, and additioinally served as a primary teacher, scout leader and more. This show and others with similar content, played a role in me venturing out of the "mormon bubble" and its peculiar view of Christianity and investigating the rich and sound traditions found in the Catholic Church (the church of my birth and upbringing). This investigation led to a very strong desire to be in communion with the Catholic church and receive the Holy Eucharist. I am back home now and loving this familiar story and praying for those who have a suspician that something is not quite right with the truth claims of the LDS faith. Peace be with you all.

@dylanwilliams2202 as an ex Mormon who found the True Church that Jesus Christ Himself founded and promised the gates of hell wouldn't prevail against it. The one that was passed down by the apostles, and where we can trace back every Bishop of Rome (pope) to Peter. I recommend The Fathers Know Best by Jimmy Akin to see hundreds, if not thousands of Church Fathers and Bishops statements, thoughts, and declarations of faith. You will quickly find that Mormonism is a mish mash of different heresies that have no grounding in the early church. The Theology makes no sense and can't claim to be original Christianity. There's a 2000 year paper trail you can search and find anything you want about the True Church founded by Christ, built on Peter and passed down to us, the body of Christ.
@@NatePewsAndQs Luckily I saw this because I did not get a notification for it lol _"as an ex Mormon who found the True Church that Jesus Christ Himself founded and promised the gates of hell wouldn't prevail against it."_ You are completely misquoting Matthew 16:18. That is saying that the gates of hell wouldn't prevail against the rock who is Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 10:4), not the Church. This has shown to have been the case because 1 Peter 3:19 tells of Christ going in and teaching to spirits in prison that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. (1 Peter 4:6) and that preaching is still happening today because every knee will bow and confess Jesus is Lord (Philippians 2:10-11) on judgment day. The gates of hell did not prevail because Jesus Christ broke through the bands of death and hell and his gospel went into hell like a rock smashing through a gate. The gates of hell are *gates* not a person or entity and those *gates* did not prevail against Christ. Even if I were to entertain the idea of it talking of the Church then it still would hold true because the gates of hell didn't prevail against the Church because the Church came back. _"The one that was passed down by the apostles, and where we can trace back every Bishop of Rome (pope) to Peter."_ Your line of succession is false and has no legitimacy. Peter wasn’t a bishop, he was an apostle and leader of the church during this time. There is no evidence of Peter being the bishop in church in Rome. In fact, Iranaeus says “The blessed apostles, then, *having founded and built up the Church, committed into the hands of Linus the office of the episcopate.”* (Against Heresies 3 chapter 3) Or after the apostles set up the Church area, the first Bishop was Linus, not Peter. So where do you get that Peter was the Bishop of Rome? Where does it say that Linus or even the Bishop of Rome was supposed to secede Peter as leader? Linus was bishop of Rome from 67 AD until his death in 76 AD and John the apostle is said to have died between 89 - 120 AD, why would the leadership not have fallen to one of Jesus’s apostles? Andrew and Thomas are said to have been alive as well during that time. Also, Peter is also supposed to have founded the Church at Antioch and Corinth, so why does the Bishop of Rome get to be the leader when 2 other Churches have the same claim of authority? And the Church at Antioch was founded in 34 AD while Rome was founded in 42 AD so it doesn’t even have an seniority position which makes the claim of Rome even weaker. _"You will quickly find that Mormonism is a mish mash of different heresies"_ This is just an ambiguous statement. I could say the same thing about Catholics and if left at that you would be wondering "what do you mean". So I will be more specific and say that your blatant worship of Mary and the saints, your worship of another idol being the cross, the indulgences, calling your religious leaders "father" and you baptizing babies as heresies against God and Jesus Christ. And to put it bluntly, the gospel the Catholic Church teaches is a watered down version of what God's and Jesus Christ's true gospel really is. _"The Theology makes no sense"_ It makes perfect sense to anyone who actually knows it. What part doesn't make sense? _"There's a 2000 year paper trail you can search and find anything you want about the True Church founded by Christ, built on Peter and passed down to us, the body of Christ."_ No, there isn't. Also, To say that the Church was built on Peter is to say that the Catholic Church is Peter’s Church and not Jesus Christs. The closest you can get to Matthew 16:18 to meaning Peter would be his faith in Christ that was the rock, and on this rock or Peter’s faith in Christ will He establish his Church. Peter himself uses the same imagery in his first epistle saying the church is built of numerous small petros “living stones” (1 Peter 2:5) who, like Peter, confess that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and those confessions of faith are the bedrock of the church. Which is also how the Early Church Fathers took Matthew 16:18 to mean. Origen said “And if we too have said like Peter, ‘Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God,’ not as if flesh and blood had revealed it unto us, but by the light from the Father in heaven having shone in our heart, we become a Peter, and to us there might be said by the Word, ‘Thou art Peter,’ etc. *For a rock is every disciple of Christ of whom those drank who drank of the spiritual rock which followed them,* and upon every such rock is built every word of the Church, and the polity in accordance with it; for in each of the perfect, who have the combination of words and deeds and thoughts which fill up the blessedness, is the church built by God. *But if you suppose that upon the one Peter only the whole church is built by God, what would you say about John the son of thunder or each one of the Apostles? Shall we otherwise dare to say, that against Peter in particular the gates of Hades shall not prevail, but that they shall prevail against the other Apostles and the perfect? Does not the saying previously made, ‘The gates of Hades shall not prevail against it,’ hold in regard to all and in the case of each of them?* And also the saying, ‘Upon this rock I will build My Church?’ Are the keys of the kingdom of heaven given by the Lord to Peter only, and will no other of the blessed receive them? But if this promise, ‘I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven,’ be common to others, how shall not all things previously spoken of, and the things which are subjoined as having been addressed to Peter, be common to them? ‘Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.’ If any one says this to Him…he will obtain the things that were spoken according to the letter of the Gospel to that Peter, but, as the spirit of the Gospel teaches to every one who becomes such as that Peter was. *For all bear the surname ‘rock’ who are the imitators of Christ,* that is, of the spiritual rock which followed those who are being saved, that they may drink from it the spiritual draught. But these bear the surname of rock just as Christ does. But also as members of Christ deriving their surname from Him they are called Christians, and from the rock, Peters…And to all such the saying of the Savior might be spoken, ‘Thou art Peter’ etc., down to the words, ‘prevail against it.’ But what is the it? Is it the rock upon which Christ builds the Church, or is it the Church? For the phrase is ambiguous. Or is it as if the rock and the Church were one and the same? This I think to be true; for neither against the rock on which Christ builds His Church, nor against the Church will the gates of Hades prevail. Now, if the gates of Hades prevail against any one, such one cannot be a rock upon which the Christ builds the Church, nor the Church built by Jesus upon the rock (Allan Menzies, Ante-Nicene Fathers (Grand Rapids: Eerdmans, 1951), Origen, Commentary on Matthew, Chapters 10-11). From Augustine “And I tell you…‘You are Peter, Rocky, and on this rock I shall build my Church, and the gates of the underworld will not conquer her. To you shall I give the keys of the kingdom. Whatever you bind on earth shall also be bound in heaven; whatever you loose on earth shall also be loosed in heaven’ (Mt 16:15-19). In Peter, Rocky, we see our attention drawn to the rock. Now the apostle Paul says about the former people, ‘They drank from the spiritual rock that was following them; but the rock was Christ’ (1 Cor 10:4). *So this disciple is called Rocky from the rock, like Christian from Christ…* Why have I wanted to make this little introduction? In order to suggest to you that in Peter the Church is to be recognized. *Christ, you see, built his Church not on a man but on Peter’s confession. What is Peter’s confession? ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.’ There’s the rock for you, there’s the foundation, there’s where the Church has been built, which the gates of the underworld cannot conquer”* (John Rotelle, Ed., The Works of Saint Augustine (New Rochelle: New City Press, 1993), Sermons, Vol. 6, Sermon 229P.1, p. 327). The current Catholic interpretation of Matthew 16:18 is not shared by the Early Church Fathers and is a later interpretation to try and justify the false Catholic claim of being true. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is God's and Jesus Christ one and only true church here on earth. The Catholics are just the first apostate Church to come about since Christ.

Stephen seems like a great guy and I wish him the best. There were also so many points in the interview where I wanted to jump in and give a response to so many things he said about the church. His view of things is not the only reasonable one. Would be nice someday to hear a conversation between Matt and a similarly articulate member of my faith.
I am also a practicing member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and while I appreciate how respectful Matt, Stephen, and most of the people in the comments are toward our faith, I would LOVE to hear a conversation between Matt and someone who believes in our doctrine and understands the nuances of our history.
From LDS to Atheist to Catholic. Admirable search for Truth. Sad to admit there is too much of being raised Catholic, but only going to weddings and baptisms etc. Catholicism not being anything meaningful or part of our lives in the hispanic community. It is just part of the culture, but poorly formed. 🙁
Havent you head of Padre Luis Torro ? He has 1.5 million subs and has debated possibly hundreds of anti Catholic Pastors ,literally all Latinos . Thru his Ministry ,many Catholics who have become Evangelicals have already returned to the faith. Some of them were pastors .
I agree many on the Hispanic community are not exercising their religion and are causing conflicts and confusion on what it means to live and be part of their faith. It needs to be addressed if not many will turn to non Christian reasonings for life.
I hear you ! Daughter of Hispanic immigrants being 1st generation American , my parents were living the American dream . Providing us a life they never had but didn’t prioritize our souls & hearts to Christ’s Church. Now as adults , we must decide to be Catholic or not . Personally, I floated around from religion to another one. I know Catholicism is true✝️& have been back home from doing my own research as well as God touching my heart . I have a family of my own now and I have committed to make a difference with my own children . It all starts at home . Every Sundays , every Catholic holiday is always an effort to make it fun , special and meaningful in Christ . God’s always first , sports , activities , etc are last. Who has opened my eyes is Padre Jose Arturo Lopez Cornejo. His YT channel is amazing ! God bless !
@@truthhurtsalways4u Padre Toro is AMAZING!!! I’m blown away by how he knows scripture inside and out ! The way he explains & breaks it down is brilliant! He’s a fierce Catholic 🔥 may God continue to bless his work & talents.
"love the idea of having a debate ...... "???? LOLOLOL Peter wasn't the first Pope. Jesus Christ does not tell Peter that he'll be the Rock that Jesus Christ's Church will be built on in Matthew 16 : 19 because Jesus Christ is the Rock and the "Gates of Hell' is the "entrance" to the Spirit World aka the "grave". The word "Pope" never appears in the "Biblical " text as a type of Church office/calling in Jesus Christ's Church. In fact Jesus told the Apostles NOT to allow themselves to be called "father". The 3 in 1 trinity was stolen from the pagan nations that surrounded the Israelites and the Kingdom of Judah. Constantine was a Mithras ( Sun ....) worshipper and after his death.... He was worshipped like the Roman Emperors that proceeded him. Inquisition????Theft is Aztec, Incan and Mayan, etc. treasures????? Mass graves of infants discovered near Catholic foster facilities???????
The Baltimore Catechism was a simple and easy way to understand the Catholic Faith, similar to what he mentioned about Mormonism being easy to follow. After seeing it as an adult revert to Catholicism, I wish I would have been catechized with it as a child
I had a similar experience, my now wife handed me the Bmore catechism on our third date and I wish my Catholic school growing up had just adhered to that little book.
My dear friend through middle school & highschool is a devout Mormon. Went to their dances/functions & stuff & her family/community were such beautiful people. I honestly have a special place in my heart for the LDS people. I have always been meant with nothing but kindess & joy. Honestly- converse with any LDS you know about your joy in your Catholic religion. I lost touch with that friend, but I found through social media that my dear old LDS friend celebrated the immaculate conception of Mary cause her 'dear Catholic friend from HS told [her] about miraculous that day' Seeds will be planted..
Come on, Matt! Have someone else pick up you wife. This is possibly the best interview you’ve ever had and Stephen is one of the best story tellers I’ve heard in a long while. Im happy to pitch in for a cab for the missus. 😅
I will come into full communion with the RCC end of November. As a former Mormon it does hurt me to see how the doctrine sound logical until you not look over the edge of the plate. I love the LDS church, it’s leaders, the members and the community, I even preferred the communities over my experience with Catholics but unfortunately I can believe is true and believe the Catholic Church is the one true church
Your comment about Catholic community is so sad but so true. Especially in America/ The West. I have such admiration for Mormon families and communities
Wow this was quite interesting. I felt like I was back in college in a philosophy/ religion class. I’ m a fallen away Irish(.75) American Catholic. My family through our history were very devoted as was I until my children were to make their confirmation and the bishop was arrested for molestation ! 😵💫At the time in the mid 1990s Catholic clergy were being called out every day. So I left the faith. I tried a few churches Methodist was the first then Baptist because my daughter went to PBAU. Liked both and enjoyed the ministers being considered almost on the same level as parishioners rather than worshiped like priests. Then we joined the United Methodist Church and realized that there were the same issues there. Closing their eyes to child abuse. At the same time we were having a family crisis. During which my faith in Christ became stronger. I was praying and exploring the meaning of it all and wondering why? Very sad but felt closer to Christ carrying this cross of trouble, being abandoned, lied to, vilified, mentally tortured telling the truth. In my head and heart I felt like I was being drawn back to the Catholic faith. I didn’t know whether it was melancholy because I was wishing for an earlier time when things were easier more peaceful or what. But it was intense. I started studying everything about Jesus’s early life , Mary Joseph, the gospel of John and Fatima and Lourdes. During a move I found a box of religious artifacts that my Nana gave me. A cross, a miraculous metal, a booklet about Our Lady of Fatima and a Rosary. I started praying the rosary at least once a day. And things started to change for the good, angels arrived to help my family it truly was a miracle. As Stephen said I was called God was giving me a clear message to go back to my origins. I watched/ listened this program as I cleaned. It didnt even seem like 3 hours it was so interesting. I want to watch in next episode now but it may be tomorrow. I feel an evolution coming in religion at least within my family and friends. As I look around more talk about religion , religious movies, Asbury Church miracle amazing grace from God. I loved this today and thank you for reaffirming my move back to my heritage and the Catholic church. Praise God. ❤️🙏❤️
Ahhhhhh! I've been waiting for this since I was about 17 (I'm 42) and am thrilled that you're doing the story justice with a part II, but also....ahhhh, I have to wait some more. Intellectual LDS to Catholic conversion stories are rare treasures. I joke with my husband that I'll drop everything and move to Utah if the Catholic outreach to college students he works for opens a chapter out there. I have such a deep thirst for bringing the beauty, truth and FREEDOM of the Gospel to the LDS people who appear so close and are yet so far. Looking forward to part II!
I also want to add, that this is the first LDS conversion conversation I've heard that is balanced and intentionally honest about strengths, weaknesses, and "things that sound weird to outsiders" as regards both LDS and Catholic beliefs. Beautifully navigated Matt and Stephen!
University of Utah Newman center is led by wonderful Dominicans. They need prayer. Utah is a very, very difficult mission field. I hope God does indeed lead you there.
My husband and I have some very dear LDS friends. They are some of the most kind, genuine, and loyal people we know. If we ever need something they are the first to volunteer their help. We pray for them often, as I’m sure they do for us. We know that we do have disagreements on doctrine, but we just mutually charitable on those things, but are very open with each other in talking about those differences, and answering questions about those things. I do believe that there are some things that the LDS community get absolutely right. They are all about family closeness, working hard, being honorable, and responsible with your blessings. They truly live those values, and the world would be so much better off if we all lived that way.
When I raised my kids, in the 80's & 90's one of our neighbors was a Mormon family with 3 boys. They were all very neighborly, respectful and appeared to live exemplary lives. I had dinner with them once and the father prayed a beautiful, prayer before we ate that was fully compatible with my Christian faith. I was aware that the Mormon doctrine was deeply flawed but I was happy to see that there were at least some tenets of Christianity, apparently. The oldest son departed for a mission to Africa after HS. Then, somehow the mother discovered the truth of what had been going on for years between the father and their three sexually abused boys. The mother immediately left with the 2 younger boys and the marriage dissolved. I believe the father served time. So..... things can look good on the surface, but behind closed doors can be a whole other story.
I was raised Mormon, then left the church and became Baptized Christian when I married a Christian, and we moved to California. I took the same route as Stephan except it’s was reversed. My wife encouraged me and would go to sacrament meeting with me, but she later told me after I converted that she would have never had children with me had I still been Mormon and was actively preventing that. She is a wonderful woman and prayed for me constantly, always encouraging me to look deeper at t the scriptures and never being afraid to challenge my beliefs no matter how upset I got that she just couldn’t see what I saw. . I was baptized a Christian 1 1/2 years into our marriage and the day before my 22nd birthday. praise the Lord! We now have three children, all baptized and being raised Christians and encouraged to know intimately the one true God.
God bless Stephen and his clear concise way of explaining Mormonism and the next time someone comes to my door I will pray with them for them that the spirit of our Lord open their eyes. Thank you Matt and Pints w/ Aquinas for always great content God bless❤
I am glad Stephen did not stay atheist! Too many people leave their faith because of error or issues in the church they grew up in and don't find their way back to christ. Matt, this was a good episode and didn't fell like it had a combative spirit keep up the good work.
GREAT episodes. Stephan speaks so casually about being a member of what many consider the most unsung/unrecognized military unit with the most difficult training, and most dangerous missions, is a testimony to his high character.
Thank you for all your help in my conversion Pints With Aquinas! Was baptized as a baby, first confession and first communion. Left for years, became a hedonist and eventually a protestant Christian after an experience of Jesus Christ forgiving me. Now I’m getting to go home!!
I was Mormon during my college years - phased out when I got home from college (BYU) - and have drifted for the last 50 years. I do have strong faith in God and Jesus Christ but never found a "church" that drew me. This was a fascinating interview! I rarely hang on for an interview longer than an hour - but I was riveted to this one. Stephen is quite intelligent and well spoken. I really enjoyed this. Thank you!
We need a part 2. I love Matt's understanding and charity. He truly tries to look at the good in other faiths and actively avoids using straw-man arguments.
Stephan is very misleading. He doesn't know his church history or who Joseph Smith really was, but if he finds peace in the Catholic church all the power to him.
I almost became Mormon. When I was a kid, Mum and I became good friends with a bunch of Mormon missionaries. Mum told them we weren't interested in converting but they were happy to just stay friends and hang out. Being a kid from a small Aussie town when the ninja turtles were exploding on the scene, I thought they were the coolest guys in the world, but they moved away and we eventually lost touch. Years later, not long after coming back to my Catholic faith, my grandma randomly showed up on my doorstep with a little book on Mormonism written by a Catholic priest. No joke, a few days later, 2 Mormon missionaries just so happened to move into the apartment next door to me. I was so new to my faith and the missionaries were so kind, and enthusiastic, and brought back some fond memories, that after a while I seriously considered joining the LDS Church. They went through all the sessions with me and asked if I felt the Holy Spirit moving., They invited me to a couple church services and even took me to their local president's house where I found myself poorly trying to defend the Real Presence and other doctrines. If it wasn't for that book I may have been convinced of their claims to be the true and restored Church. At one point of desperation, I prayed for an answer and flipped open the Bible randomly to Mt 15:13-14 "Every plant which my Heavenly Father has not planted will be rooted up...Do not worry about them, they are blind leaders of the blind..." In the end, when it became clear that I wasn't going to convert, our discussion got heated and one of the missionaries ended up yelling at me and kept saying, 'Your Church is the Church of Satan!' 'By their fruits you shall no them!' and 'The LDS Church will only keep growing and one day you'll know the truth!' It's been many years and while I haven't been convinced to this day, I still think Mormons are kind and honourable people who could teach a lot of Catholics a thing or two.
@@clearstonewindows it’s actually an interesting concept if taken as a work of 19th century fiction. I just didn’t find its historical claims to be credible
One of the biggest compliments I could pay someone is to be able to say, “Wow, this is clearly a wonderful human being and I’m glad to have encountered them,” within three hours of ever hearing of their existence. Stephen is that kind of guy.
Matt, around the 21 minute mark you call for your viewers to be charitable. Seeing the love of Christ in those moments is what is helping me as a Protestant begin to lean towards Catholicism. Your show is the best.
Seriously? Did you see the episode where he let his guest slander Lutherans, saying that Luther wanted to abolish the commandments? That's hardly charity.
We are trying to move to Steubenville. We just need a buyer. I know God will send one in time. Please anyone who reads this pray we have peace while we wait.
This was absolutely a great discussion. I loved it… we have had many Mormon friends in the military. They are very kind, generous and loving. I am a Catholic and went to Catholic schools for 12 years. We studied the Baltimore Catechism. They need to teach our kids again from it. It has the basics for our children to learn more about our faith. I was amazed at how intelligent Stephen talked and f he really was able to articulate everything so well! Thank you and I can’t wait for part two. God Bless you for having him on.
Stephen is an embodiment of the St. Autustine quote: "The truth is like a lion; you don't have to defend it. Let it loose; it will defend itself." We are so lucky to have a member of the Catholic Church with deep insight and the ability to transfer it in such a logical and concise manner. His armour is faith and ratio. I don't agree with the burning part of the opposition literature because this kind of content challenges our faith, and through patient logical argumentation we can deconstruct every teaching of such sort (not me, but guys like Matt and Stephen for sure). Thank you, lads. God bless!
That’s a myth actually. I think a couple Mormon apostles speculated such during the height of polygamy 150 years back, but the was never taught or sustained by the church. Latter-day Saint doctrine is very clear that God the Father is monogamously married to Heavenly Mother.
Don't Catholics believe nuns are the brides of Christ? St. Terese plans her wedding to Christ and calls him her groom. I'm Catholic, but I guess I'm confused how we don't also believe this, at least on some level.
I am so glad to have watched this episode! Thank you for sharing the intro to your testimony, Stephen. Very well done, it was enlightening and inspiring. I cannot wait to watch part two! Will be sharing with family.
Amazing interview! I have a background as a Christian but have come to realize all organized religion has been manipulated by man including Catholicism. I've been to Mormon church, Catholic church and many protestant churches. I saw a lot of rituals in the Catholic church that go back to paganism. The eye opener for me was church is on Sundays, which is not the sabbath (Saturday). This is directly breaking the 4th commandment. This was changed by the Catholic church to bring in the sun worshipers on SUN-day. I've been to the Vatican and was blown away by the wealth and power. I did not have a good feeling. The Catholic church also created Halloween and removed the idea of reincarnation from Christianity that even Jesus discuses several times in the new testament.
What on earth are you talking about? Man is an essential element of religion, obviously. The marks of men will be all over it just as the marks of Isaiah are all over his writing. Have you not heard of divine and human cooperation? The Holy Spirit works in and through men and creation. Truth exists in paganism to one degree or another. Haven't you read any Plato or Aristotle? Paul himself quotes a pagan poet in Acts. Does that discredit Paul? The Church began meeting together for fellowship in the word and the breaking of bread on the first day of the week i.e. Sunday. Sunday is the day of the resurrection, the day of the New Creation. It is fitting that we gather, celebrate, and worship God on that day since all things are made new in Christ. At the Vatican you saw nearly 2000 years of growth, endurance, and devotion to God. It should have been awe-inspiring not suspicious. Quit trying to make Christianity fit into your new-age box. It's not going to work.
@@SJohnson529 Not new age brother :) Just after truth. The more I research the more I think Gnosticism may be the closest to the truth? I would recommend you look into that if you haven't yet. I believe that is the closest to Christ's teachings? Christ does discuss reincarnation and that was a strong belief in Christianity for many centuries until a Roman Emperor (possibly his wife) decided to take it out of the Church to give more power to the Emperor. (During the Second Council of Constantinople in 553 AD, Justinian pressured attendees to ban reincarnation from the Christian church. The banishment statement read, "If anyone asserts the fabulous pre-existence of souls, and shall assert the monstrous restoration which follows from it: let him be anathema". ) I have read the Bible, Plato, Aristotle, the book of Enoch and other lost books. I have traveled to Ephesus where Paul wrote 1 and 2 Corinthians, island of Patmos where he was exiled, Istanbul with lots of history there. The more I research the more questions I have and the closer to God I become. I have had incredible experiences with the Holy Spirit, life changing. We are all on our own journey. I understand the defensiveness you have, I felt the same way as my paradigm began to shift. Love to you brother!
Thanks for sharing your story with us. It was so coherent and on point, I never lost interest or struggled to understand what you were saying. Very interesting talk, I really hope you come back and finish it!
What a fascinating discussion with a very impressive and earnest young man. Thank God for his conversion and thank Thursday for all the work on the links following this video.
Exceptional. I really feel some kind of call to convert Mormons to the faith because I enjoy them so much while bemoaning that they have been separated from Christ in such a uniquely difficult way to overcome. This has been immensely helpful.
I’m a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints. Unfortunately, the only thing I saw that was clipped was you saying Joseph was demonically inspired. I think the LDS reaction to that on TH-cam is uninformed because this video is REMARKABLY charitable and I appreciate that so much. I hope you can organize a debate with an LDS scholar. Kudos!
Inactive LDS here. I’m struggling with much of what Stephen described struggling with in this video. And through this struggle, I’ve felt my relationship with the Father grow much closer than when I was an active member. I’ve come to the conclusion that if I were to leave the LDS faith, it would be for either Catholicism or Eastern Orthodoxy. My biggest hurdle keeping me from making the leap is the trinity. I’ve spent quite a bit of time trying to make it make sense, and I just can’t. Any book recommendations or apologist videos would be greatly appreciated. God bless ✌🏼
Stephen, from the episode here. I am glad to hear that you are open to Catholicism. I understand how complex and muddled the trinity can seem coming from an LDS perspective, which is very comprehendible and simple. I would be happy to speak with you about the doctrine and explain it in the terms which helped me to understand. As far as book recommendations go, I would suggest St. Augustines "On the Trinity." Frank Sheed also has a great and accessible book called "Theology and Sanity." Both would be great.
“Theology for Beginners” by Frank Sheed, and “Theology and Sanity” also by Frank Sheed. Also, the Patrick Madrid Show (on Relevant Radio) is a great show worth listening to.
As an active Latter-day Saint, what is it you’re struggling with? I would suggest this playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLW_W0q2IV3ZGtnDHmUtSQhdKwGfWrTN-U.html The videos in that playlist offer an abridged but still comprehensive compilation of the complete case for Mormonism from many different angles, structured like the presentation of a court case.
3 Nephi 11:27 And after this manner shall you baptize in my name: behold verily I say to you, that the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost are ONE; and I am in the Father, and the Father in me, and the Father and me are one. 2 Nephi 31:21 ...and now behold, this is the doctrine of Christ, and the only and true doctrine of the Father, and the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is ONE God, without end amen. Alma 11:44 ...and shall be brought and arraigned before the bar of Christ the Son, and God the Father, and the Holy Spirit, which is ONE ETERNAL GOD, Doctrine and Covenants 20:28 Which Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are ONE God, infinite and eternal, without end. Amen. According to the doctrine of the Trinity there are three persons in one God. The verses cited from Mormon Scriptures support the doctrine of the Trinity. Apparently Mormon doctrine has changed with time. According to Moroni 8:18, Moroni 9:9, and Malachi 3:6 KJV God is unchangeable. If God is unchangeable how can His doctrine Change?
Wonderful conversation! Thank you!! Matt, you strike the perfect balance of having a conversation while also letting your guests speak without riding over them. Awesome job. Can't wait for Part 2.
God bless you! Im so appreciative of the way you lay the foundation for a respectful dialogue.... I’m just 20 minutes in! But it helps me feel at peace in listening 🤗
I’m a Catholic who lives in a heavily Mormon town in AZ. This episode is fascinating to me because while the Mormon theology differs from ours by leaps and bounds, I still find myself having brief, but pleasant interactions with those guys on bicycles. Still will have my catholic community first and foremost, it makes for a nice little town on the outer edges of a big city like Phoenix
Lemme guess, east valley somewhere. Jk don’t give it away. I live in one of the most heavily LDS towns in AZ as well. And I was also LDS. It was really hard because I felt like I did not have anyone to talk to about my faith when I left. because it was rejected. Luckily my parents are very very very loving people and didn’t mind it. But it’s so heavily influenced in my town. And my little amount of Christian friends were very left out and weren’t exactly treated the same.
I would still love to hear the interview with you and the woman who unfortunately had to cancel due to family matters regarding this same topic. It's very interesting considering some of my best friends are LDS
I am not Catholic nor Mormon. I do have a daughter in love that’s Mormon. I am a believer in Yeshua. Catholics have a horrific history of violence against Jews. Jesus was a Jew. His name was never Jesus. I grew up with a Pentecostal mother and Catholic father. My prayer was always that I didn’t want to be one that in the day of judgement, standing before Him, and He saying to me “get away from me worker of iniquity I never knew you.“ I didn’t want to cry out but I cast out demons, healed the sick in Your name, so I cried out to Him to teach me the truth about His word. He led me to His Word in Hebrew. Line upon line, precept upon precept. He tells us to search out the things hidden. I praise Him for showing me His Truth. Read the Torah He shows us His Son all through scripture. The Words of Yeshua are all over Torah. Be blessed beloveds as He is knocking at the door.
@@michaelcarroll1532 All of Joseph Smith’s subsequent spiritual experiences had several witnesses and physical evidence. And other people also had visions of the same angel independent of Joseph. So it’s not “just trust me bro.”
I have known many Mormons who have left their church but sadly only to replace it with modern progressivism/ feminism. I guess it’s not that unusual from other religious kids who abandon their faith but it seems a little sadder to me when it happens to Mormons. They’re usually so nice and caring and the world just… changes them in horrible ways.
Just an observation about the great, truly great things the LDS have achieved; first, building a community. I know no other organization so positively able to build and sustain a community. Second, sending young men to evangelize. What a right of passage! As well as focusing them while they are most vulnerable and in need of exploring the world. We need this! Every community needs this.
Mormons used to be unbeatable in that but as they've caved to mainstream political and cultural pressure they have lost A TON of their "it's us against the world and we support each other no matter what" culture that they used to have. I left Mormonism last year and never felt accepted even after decades of trying and getting nowhere
LDS's greatest achievement was the Mountain Meadows Massacre, reaching the highest echelons of the organization. It's hard to believe that Brigham Young wasn't involved in instigating this horrific event.
@@StevieD1x the failures of individuals even in leadership are ultimately irrelevant. Mormonism is wrong because it is false. the actions (positive or negative) of it's practitioners is irrelevant.
God bless you, brother. It isn't easy, but it's worth it. God bless the Catholic Church
I’m a former SDA and I see lots a similarly with the LDS faith! It’s really crazy and interesting… I’m now an Orthodox Christian but coming the learn historical Christianity is what opened my heart to the SDA heretical beliefs- and I would agree completely: know your Christian history! 😊
I’m praying for you! God bless 😊

Deep in history deep in Christ

Thank you so much for this wonderful exchange-my husband and I learned so much! After 20 years as Mormon converts, we are now practicing Catholics. We are really excited to see part two!
From mormon to atheist to catholic that is my exact journey over the last decade
Same bro. My stint in atheism/agnostic was very brief and just due to feeling lonely after years of feeling rejected in multiple wards, both family and YSA. Ironically it was online meme groups that inspired me to humble myself and find truth within the true church.
So neither of you got saved?
Have you guys read the book of Mormon?

@@susand3668 Thank you so much! So many who leave the LDS church seem to wind up as atheists. I certainly don’t want that for her.
I put a note on my message text to pray for her...I will...❤

Speaking as a Catholic Christian, thank you Stephen for this interview. And for all of our LDS Brothers and Sisters watching this who are discerning the Catholic Faith, I am praying for you. The ancients had a saying and it still holds true today - “All roads lead to Rome.” Mother Church will be waiting for you, no matter how long it takes for you to get there. God Bless and keep you.
When you say brothers and sisters do you mean fellow Christian’s or just in the general sense
I know this was meant to be a kind comment, and dont get me wrong, it was. But we should be careful with our language. Mormons are not separated brethren, they arent Christian.
They with ears to hear, let them hear:
Through the Holy Spirit, God has put it on me to preach to those lost in the devil's deceit!
Read the Holy Bible (KJV) daily and every time before you read, pray to the Father and ask:
"Lord I ask that you give me understanding of your word, that I interpret it the way you want me to, and none of my own. I ask you in Jesus' name, amen."
Revelation 22:8-9 KJV
8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.

23 Jesus answered and said unto him, *If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.*
24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and *the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.*

1 John 3:6-10 KJV
6 *Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.*
7 Little children, let no man deceive you: *he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.*
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9 *Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.*
10 *In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God,* neither he that loveth not his brother.

Thank You for going on Stephen! I am a recent BYU grad in RCIA right now. It’s so wonderful to hear a story that so closely resembles mine.
This is wonderful to hear. This is Stephen from the episode. I would love to hear about how you made transition.
EXCELLENT point and hardly ever acknowledged- but 💯 true!
FYI from what I've experienced, protestants (me, included), are also very open to discussion, even when we lack answers to difficult questions.

This didn't get touched on until the Q+A section, but I absolutely cannot overstate the necessity of presenting and sharing early Church History.
@@NatePewsAndQs Luckily I saw this because I did not get a notification for it lol
_"as an ex Mormon who found the True Church that Jesus Christ Himself founded and promised the gates of hell wouldn't prevail against it."_ You are completely misquoting Matthew 16:18.

Catholic convert from Mormonism here. I flipping (that’s a popular Mormon cuss word) love the idea of having a debate with a Mormon apologist.
I bought one at a thrift store for my kids.
I lost touch with that friend, but I found through social media that my dear old LDS friend celebrated the immaculate conception of Mary cause her 'dear Catholic friend from HS told [her] about miraculous that day'
Seeds will be planted..
I feel the same way. Lovely people.

May God bless you with peace and joy as you enter the Church. Praise God for your courage to know Him
Your comment about Catholic community is so sad but so true.
This interview was amazing! So excited for part 2.
God bless Stephen and his clear concise way of explaining Mormonism and the next time someone comes to my door I will pray with them for them that the spirit of our Lord open their eyes. Thank you Matt and Pints w/ Aquinas for always great content God bless❤

Absolutely wonderful interview. I will be awaiting part 2. Stephen was very articulate and also very kind in his responses. Blessings!
We're glad you're going to have a part 2 follow up to this. We're all supportive!
Wow! What a great interview! Stephen is so knowledgable, well spoken, and pleasant to listen to. God blesses him for sure! Keep the faith!
Thank you!
Prayers for you to come to know the Catholic Church!
The problem is Stephan doesn't understand church history. Very misleading.
Likewise! Very fascinating! I too belong to no religion. My church is Jesus Christ the king.
Please have Stephen Johnson back on!!! This is a FASCINATING episode
This is one of my favourite conversations, what a truly beautiful soul
We need a part 2. I love Matt's understanding and charity. He truly tries to look at the good in other faiths and actively avoids using straw-man arguments.

I was raised Mormon and this interview is so wonderful and respectful, I truly appreciate hearing this conversation. Thank you ❤️
Thank you Stephen Johnson and Matt. THis interview will bring some Mormons to the true Light I have no doubt. God Bless you both!
Stephan is very misleading. He doesn't know his church history or who Joseph Smith really was, but if he finds peace in the Catholic church all the power to him.
This was indeed a great interview. Very informative , ready for part 2 . Thank you so much for what you do brother ! God Bless . 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Aren’t grandmas great that way?? God is so good to have moved her to bring you that book..
You didn't like the book of Mormon?
They took much of their system and values from the Church that's why
Do you remember the name of the book?
@@clearstonewindows it’s actually an interesting concept if taken as a work of 19th century fiction. I just didn’t find its historical claims to be credible
This was EXCELLENT! Yes, please have part 2!
One of the biggest compliments I could pay someone is to be able to say, “Wow, this is clearly a wonderful human being and I’m glad to have encountered them,” within three hours of ever hearing of their existence.

Thank the Lord he was protected. Praying for healing in all areas from his time in service to our country.
God bless!
God has many wives according to their doctrine. Im a prior Mormon, now Catholic for 12 years.
That’s not their doctrine.

I could listen tp this guy all evening--and I did! Fascinating.
Exceptional. I really feel some kind of call to convert Mormons to the faith because I enjoy them so much while bemoaning that they have been separated from Christ in such a uniquely difficult way to overcome. This has been immensely helpful.
props to the voice over guy for making sure we know catholics never endorsed pedophilia haha I was listening and thinking, “Oh crap, Matt.”😂
Kudos!
Thank you very much. It was never our objective to belittle, mock, or ridicule. God bless
God less you. I pray sincerely , that you would come home to the Catholic Church.
“Theology for Beginners” by Frank Sheed, and “Theology and Sanity” also by Frank Sheed.
Also, the Patrick Madrid Show (on Relevant Radio) is a great show worth listening to.
As an active Latter-day Saint, what is it you’re struggling with?
I would suggest this playlist:
th-cam.com/play/PLW_W0q2IV3ZGtnDHmUtSQhdKwGfWrTN-U.html
The videos in that playlist offer an abridged but still comprehensive compilation of the complete case for Mormonism from many different angles, structured like the presentation of a court case.
Alma 11:44 ...and shall be brought and arraigned before the bar of Christ the Son, and God the Father, and the Holy Spirit, which is ONE ETERNAL GOD,
Doctrine and Covenants 20:28 Which Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are ONE God, infinite and eternal, without end.

I have said it before and I will say in again, the foundation of Mormonism sounds very similar to the foundation of Islam.
Yup. Mormonism is about as Christian as Islam
The similarities are very surface level. Both were started by a prophet taught by an angel, and that’s about it.
@@KnuttyEntertainment but thats exactly it. How did these religion start? "God revealed this to me, trust me bro"

I am a Mormon currently in RCIA. Easter can't come soon enough.
