There´s more to this song in the lyrics than what you read. To understand the meaning of it you really have to listen to (or read) the last few verses of the song, these give the song a whole different meaning than just a girl being ugly.

Its impressive how many ppl covering this song in any types of music. ppl doing this as classic song, as shanty choir, or as folkmusic, this song has so many beautiful colors.

Love this one. I love the contrast between Till's voice on the verse and on the chorus. Hard grunt (? Sorry for my english) vs heavy melody. On my top 5.... of Reise Reise's album (with reise, reise , moskau, stein um stein and mein teil)
You should definitely react to the actual video of this live performance of morgenstern. Its in my opinion one of rammstein's best performance on a concert.

Great song. I love it. But the problem is that they never played Feuer und Wasser live. Same thing with Rosenrot. They only play benzin,mann gegen mann and zerstören live of the Rosenrot album.
They played Te Quiero Puta a couple of times aswell.. and Rosenrot, they have played 2x in Berlin in 2009. But I haven't seen any live footage of the last one, sadly :/

+Fiona B Rammstein's songs are not really dark though. I think Nine Inch Nail is much darker. Just listen to Quake soundtrack, you'll know what I mean.
For me dark it's not hard... sorry I'm French and my English is so bad to explain what I think 😂 It's just dark like... I don't know how to say... dirty... deep... it's not just playing hard riff and scream... I don't know if you understand 😉 but yes it's not the heavyest group I listen to

There are two morningstars (Venus, The star who brings the light / Lightbringer / The one who carries the light) mentioned in the bible, the one is Jesus Christ the other is Lucifer (the fallen Angel/ sometimes refered to as Satan which might be false, because Lucifer is the Lord over the Earth, while God is Lord of the Heaven and Satan is Lord over the hell.). If you call to a star in the twilight, you don't know who answers. The song is pointing out the pain and isolation (-> Depression) young adults might experience if they don't fit (beauty standards) into the superficial society. " Der Mensch ist doch ein Augentier, schöne Dinge wünsch ich mir, doch du, du bist nicht schön, Nein. .. Du bist häßlich... bist einfach häßlich" -> The "Human" is an animal of eyes, i wish for beautiful things, but you, you ain't beautiful, No. You are ugly .. you're simply ugly. Also he prays to the morningstar for his BELOVED girl to make her beautiful before her heart bursts. So he loves her but don't want to be with her because she's ugly, but when he prays for the morningstar to shine on her face, he (Jesus? Lucifer?) does, but instead of making her beautiful the star makes him see her beauty through his heart. It's basically a story about modern superficiality and how people sell their souls for beauty.
