- A little late to the party but I finally got around to it and how I've missed CB solo speedrunning... This is my 1st sub 4min run within my 2nd day of trying and just thought I'd get something out there especially since this is currently the only no Focus and no Health Regen combination that is posted for console, so something different for those interested. Anyone that is familiar with speedrunning Ruiner will know this is a larger than average HP variant just by the amount of time it took to go down at the start plus it was also a big boy, so considering these RNG factors and I'm using original/old meta skills, I'm happy with this run.

Here I am watching your solo CB runs thinking I could see things that I do just to be greeted with really clean phial management and decision making. I play mostly based on instinct so it takes me a couple runs (fails) to see what attacks I can guard point and punish

Thx brother and damn if that ledge wasn’t there it would have connected and would have been an absolute clean + faster run. I haven’t spent much time on this run and if I jus grinded for a better HP variant and play my script, it would have been a niiicee. But I got nothing to prove and this run was so satisfying as it is 🍻

Thx brother and keep up the grind! If you didn’t know you can anticipate where he is going to land when he flies up. When he goes up on arm is higher than the other and that’s the side he’s going to slam. This helps A LOT when you understand this key mechanic.

This definitely looks like it's captured on PS4. I remember seeing runs captured on pc, there was an unfair advantage where the camera seems to zoom out way further thus can observe the monsters move much better.
Edit: just notice the buttons are xbox prompts. But judging from the camera distance, it still seems like it's captured from the console, not pc
Close, it’s Xbox but I guess part of the same console family. Can’t compete with PC but their runs are still quality even with their advantages 👌Looking forward to PS5 tho!!

Safi-Brachy has the highest EFR and is a big reason for the two top sub 3:30 times. you will need to add sharp6 to your shatterblade as well.
Trust me I know everything about that build 😂 That build works best when you start the fight with Nergy agitated and those times you’re talking about is on PC where after they spin Nergy 3 times, they get roared off practically infront of the right foot for a simple combo and trip. That can only ever happen with the smallest sized Nergy and it’s near impossible to grind on console where 99.9% of the time you get roared off under his chin and in that position there’s only one move you can rely on him doing to get that trip and he needs to have a small HP pool which is again near impossible. Because Nergy in their runs have the smallest HP pool, that build will only go into blue sharpness by the end. Where when I tried it, it was constantly in green and sometimes worst which is horrible dmg. Trust me, when I do runs, I test all possibilities which takes up most of my time on the first day of running. Pls don’t compare PC runs with console, plus I wasn’t looking to compete in this or else I would have grinded longer for a smaller HP and follow a similar script, which would have ended way before my shield was lost. My Nergy was a large version and a larger than average HP pool and based on my performance, I’m happy and have nothing else to prove 😉
@@SH3RMSY yea thats what i realised as well when i was trying out with the triple spin, seems like console gets roar off rather than completing at least a soften. It tends to make our nergy seem like more of a buff version, but well makes the fun frustrating at the start but i just went with it. your CB guide has helped me even tho i main CB for such a long time.
Glad you’re learning and valuing the guide! You can tenderise it’s face after 3 spins no problem (jus gotta be quick), but the point is PC speedruns have mods that forces the smallest Size monster, Smallest HP variant and guaranteed Booster food skill. So because they force the smallest size, their character cannot physically fit under its chin and when they get roared off, it places their hunter perfectly infront of the correct foot for a simple trip, where as anything bigger you get roared under its chin and it’s just not efficient enough to get that 1st trip down, even though you have a stronger build that @Cho was sharing. I hope you understand better ✌️
SH3RMSY, this is my opinion and I have tested this before I ever started using mods. For ruiner, PC players lock size at default (1), not small. Small nerg is not a good one due to the arm spike hitboxes getting messier to hit due to size shrinking and easier to cover up by wings and side of horns. After the spin, you delay the tenderize for a split second (until you see foot reposition) and roll to the right foot, the game even on pc doesnt just do the positioning for you, in fact it should be easier with bigger nerg because the roll can often overshoot by 2 steps. If you dont delay the tenderize you wont fall on your butt and the roar animation will freeze you.It should work on console and ive done it with variable size nergs before (I used to run ruiner without size locking). I think the sharpness concern is a good one Sherms, but imo, safi brachy for ruiner should still be viable. I have had slower low sub 5 runs with ruiner dead with blue sharpness, of course sub 4 runs which cover less hits and faster kills stay in blue and not green. If you drop to green it is still fine if you kill mon immediately, if not then time to reset lol. Could be rng where you took more guard hits that usual. Dropping to blue is also fine for the last phase of the fight, the set is so strong you are still 96% as strong as the white sharpness old teo sets vs ruiner.
why Guard lv5? from what I understand, charged shield gives +2, and then guard point that triggers offensive guard is +2. So with Guard 1, you can block all of Nerg's attacks with the minimal knockback.
To keep it simple: You're right on those two points but you can stack them on top of Guard 5 to reduce knockback even further, it doesn't stop at 5 just because that's the skill cap. I'm not sure about Temered Ruiner but you do need a virtual "guard 9" to be able to SAED out of guard points for some of (furious) Rajangs attacks.

You’re very right but the big slam he does requires Guard 5 (the one where I GP after charging my sword) and countering this, keeps the lock down combo momentum going and plus if I ran out of shield near the end, I can still guard point counter with minimum knockback. I think his roars can give medium knockback with guard 1 and because I’m using no focus, I can’t afford even a split second wasted with medium knockbacks. I always use Guard 5 with Nergy even on my casual hunts for comfy reasons too since you take a lot less blocked damage and can counter anything anytime 👌 Great question btw!

I think it's after the guard point. When you guard point you can do any combo to be the next attack, so that means you can do AED after guard point

How can you be so sure its thorns won't hit you when its doing dive bombs?
Great question but I’ve answered this in a couple replies, check them out! They are very predictable and let me know if you found the answer.
How did you guardpoint twice in a row at 1:40?
Insanely late to the party but after a gp it leaves you in a guarding state although I'm pretty sure you can still double guard point even in this state
at ruiners first roar instead of guard pointing which I think would have been more beneficial you side hopped. just pointing out a mistake I think you made in maximising your dps
Gr8 job trying to see where dps could be gained from, but unfortunately guard pointing that first roar would have made it more difficult to clutch claw it’s face and spin it one time to wall bang, which is more of a priority than squeezing 12s extra of offensive guard boost on very little dmg since the weapon is fully uncharged at that point.
How has the F did the AI ignore you with the dive spike launch, every time he does that to me i get hit by invisible hitbox of spikes or he side jumps from that on me.
Great question! When he goes for his dive bomb, one of his arms is higher than the other, the arm that is higher is the side he will slam to and push out his spikes from. So look for the lower side arm and position yourself that way. It’s one of the major battle mechanics that will greatly help this fight for any and every player. Watch the video again and see if you can anticipate which side he will drop down and my positioning is absolutely scripted with practically no RnG. He did do the big dive bomb and that was when I guard pointed after charging my sword where the spikes goes forward. Thus every dive bomb you see in this run is easily anticipated. Have fun practicing!!

how did you get 6 augment slots in your weapon? i also have a shatter shiled but only 3 augment slots
When you augment your Shattershield in the armoury, there should be the first option called Extra Slots available at the top. Just upgrade that to the max and requires Great Spirit Vein gems which you can get from from this exact quest.

If you wanted to make a casual build, you would swap out the Rex Chest for a Damascus chest and make sure you fit max focus and you would sacrifice agitator for health boost. Hope this helps!! I would never run no focus on my casual builds because I can’t anticipate every move which is when no focus is optimal. Offensive guard is higher up the priority list then agitator, so trade off agitator for health boost. Let me know if this helps!

I don't use SAED because Savage Axe is the meta for about 95% of the monsters. SAED is just satisfying as hell but not the optimum playstyle in Iceborne. Check out my guides for a better insight!
How have you layered the dante weapon on top of your shattershield?

Artillery only matters for impact file SAED gameplay
Like @RTT RTT was saying artillery is for SAED builds unless it’s free with the set. This build was focusing on as much attack damage with the axe and to hit crit as much as possible both in enrage and non-enraged states on his arms and head. No focus again was because it was scripted and as you can see I never struggled without a charge because I kept it maintained with every precision scripted hit.
