    This video is what I needed! Just began laying large format plank over terrazzo, so my subfloor is smooth. The kitchen is mostly done and as I walk I can feel a few small deviations but mostly without shoes. As I begin the expansive living room I am sure I'll be having 'sliding in your socks' competitions with my pipsqueak and I sure don't wanna see any booboos. This will surely help maintain a flat and uniform job when completed! Every moment of this video was informative and educational. Unfortunately since TH-cam has disabled 'dislikes' you are about the 15th video I had to watch in entirety wasting a LOT of time. You singlehandedly made all that time worth it!!! This video should be the standard for anyone embarking on a tile job.

      The system works for any tiles but they do come in different sizes for different tiles so do your research’s. How small is the tile?

    Biggest tip you forgot is to use a margin trowel to clean away about an inch of thinset around the perimeter of the tile. That will prevent thinset from oozing out between your grout joints when using the clips.

    Hi, we’ve been using this system in the uk and thought it was a great idea however it doesn’t seem to work very well as the tiles started moving around as the pliers were being clicked. I’m wondering whether it might be because of the amount of adhesive used but any ideas would be much appreciated.

    • @DIYwithMAX
      @DIYwithMAX  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for reaching out I hope I’m not too late with this advice. It sounds like the issue with your tile leveling system might be due to a few factors. Make sure you're applying the right amount of adhesive too much can cause the tiles to float and move, while too little won't hold them in place. You will find that info on the bag included the size of trowel to use. Allow the adhesive to set slightly before using the leveling system to prevent the tiles from shifting by laying few tiles and going back and adding the wedges. Apply consistent pressure with the pliers to avoid moving the tiles. I hope this helps. Please let me know how it turns out.

    Great video! One question that's been nagging me. When you stop tiling one day and resume the next, are there any problems with the levelness of the outer edge of the last row you laid down? In my mind, since you didn't level the outer edge of those tiles against adjacent tiles before the thinset cured, it seems like they could be slightly out of level and have no way to adjust vertically once you lay fresh tiles next to them and use the wedges. Or is that not the case?

    • @DIYwithMAX
      @DIYwithMAX  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Great question the tile gets leveled by all three sides from the tile to the left top and bottom. Then we insert the spacer on the right for the tile next day making sure it’s seated flush with the tile and clean up any access mortar to make sure we don’t have problems laying the next row. And that’s it works really well. As you can see in the finished product there were no issues with leveling for us. And we have done this same process in other parts of the house with the same rate of success. I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any other follow up questions. Always happy to help.

    • @TroyWarr1980
      @TroyWarr1980 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@DIYwithMAX Ohhh, OK! I think it just clicked. I guess it's just basic geometry - if the tile is leveled in 3 points using the adjacent tiles, then it has to be level to the last adjacent tile you'll lay later. I remember now from high school geometry that 3 points in space are all that's needed to define a plane. Glad I wasn't asleep that day! 😂 Anyways, thanks so much for your quick reply and willingness to help. I really appreciate it!

    • @DIYwithMAX

      Yes you could by then the leveling portion of the system would not work because the clip will get pulled out.

      @DIYwithMAX no it won't, I am actually doing a job right now with this method. It's only 1.5mm gap it won't be able to escape but lifting one side up. It's good practice to do it this way too because you dnt want the clip to mess with your dried tiles adhesive.

    Can I ask why there is a white divide between both sides of kitchen? We have a similar layout and only one half of the room is tiled, so we was going to tile the other side with no divide in between.

    • @DIYwithMAX
      @DIYwithMAX  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah sure I plan to cover this in a future video but I will let you in on the secret🤫. Those are the transitions we chose that work well with both tile and wood floors that we installed. Also those transition peaces sit a bit higher than the tile which prevents water from leaking out on to the wood floor if pot of water is dropped and spilled. But it’s mostly esthetics.
